  • In this video you will learn how to make the ripple stitch. This stitch can be made using any size hook and weight yarn. You just need to ensure that the hook is appropriate for the yarn weight. It can be made in a solid colors or you can change colors choosing your favorites. It is also a good way to use up some bigger scraps of yarn. This stitch can work to make scarfs, blankets, throws, etc. It works up very fast and looks very nice. You will need to be able to do a double crochet, chain and double crochet decrease for this tutorial.
I hope you enjoy this tutorial.
Remember, this coming Sunday 01/12/14 I will be available to meet folks that live in the Anaheim, California area. I will be attending the Crafts and Hobby Association (CHA) mega show at the Anaheim Convention center which is located across the street from Disneyland. This even is NOT open to the public but if you will be attending CHA I would love to meet you. If you will not be attending and live in the area perhaps you can come down to the Convention Center and we can meet in front or if there is enough interest at a local restaurant.

I am not quite sure where all this negativity is coming from. I have been crocheting for about 4 years now and I learned completely from watching TH-cam. Yolanda is one of my absolute favorites. I did not feel that there was any confusion with this project for me. This isn't a video on learning crochet stiches as much as it is learning a specific stitch. It is understood, at least to me that you already know the basics. I am excited about doing this as a baby blanket. I have never done this stitch before and I am so happy to have access to Yolanda to help me branch out with my craft.

I crochet for therapy for myself and to keep my hands busy. My mom and grandmother tried to teach me as a pre-teen and while in nursing school and it was awful. Thanks to your videos, I now can crochet and even came up with a couple of little patterns myself. Every time someone asks me to teach them I refer them to you and even write your name down form to find you, that's how much you have helped me. Thanks so much, Yolanda! My mom is now asking me to reteach her and my grandmother would be so proud.

I have not crocheted in about 10 years and I was never more than a beginner so when I decided I wanted to make a baby afghan I struggled for 2 days with a pattern I did not understand. Then I found this video and YOU made everything so simple . I have a good start on this afghan now. Thank You!

So many people complaing about the decrease. There are literally hundreds of videos explaining how to do this. Be grateful that someone has taken the time to show this pattern. She doesn't get paid for it so is giving her time freely. And if you watch until 24 mins you can clearly see a decrease anyway.

I'm new to crochet and I had watched countless videos to learn how to do the chevron stitch. In the end I was always frustrated because I just wasn't getting it, until I watched your tutorial... because of you I was able to make my cousin a beautiful baby blanket for her first child! Thanks so much, god bless -Rachael.

I'm not sure why some people didn't get it.
I honestly thought it was well explained and well shown. For people who didn't understand how to do the dc decrease I would suggest looking it up before starting this pattern. It's not a big deal.
Anyway, thanks for taking your time to show us Yolanda! I'm going to try it out now! ;)

If you want your blanket to be smooth on the back side go thru both loops of the yarn every second row, then you only have the ripple effect on one side of the blanket and the other side of the blanket will be smooth ... Hope you understand what I mean, I'm from Denmark so english is NOT my native language. Love your tutorial by the way.

Hi, love the teapot and the cozy setting, as well as the demo - nicely paced. I'm not sure about the jazzy synthesizer music in the background - maybe a bit distracting? Ideas: no music; or music that equates with the cozy home feeling e.g. slower paced and softer like folk or light classical or spa. Thanks for the help! I can now finish my project.
