    Would be great if you could do a video on how to get the clutch pedal out. I am going to replace my clutch master cylinder and slave next week because I am off for March break. The leaking from the master cylinder rusted by clutch arm. I want to sand off all the rust and repaint it while I do the master cylinder and slave. Love your content by the way. Thanks for the great content.

    John, New viewer and I really appreciate your helpful videos and Insite for the S2K. I see that the Honda TCT is a problem, do you recommend a better aftermarket option?

    • @LHTPerformance
      @LHTPerformance  ปีที่แล้ว

      Over the last 15+ years, the only issues we see with the OEM TCT is from lack of frequent oil changes. The oil doesn’t circulate very well in this area and is evident when disassembled. The oil is thick and smelly inside it. We don’t see many problems among our customers that are more involved with regular oil changes, even our track guys.

    I take it you believe the ap1 retainers fail from normal use? I always understood that the AP1 retainer cracking and failure is caused when the motor is mechanically over rev'd. No? Seems like that motor may have been mechanically over rev'd causing all the damage you see.

    • @LHTPerformance
      @LHTPerformance  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t have a 100% definitive answer. Over the last 20 years we’ve noticed the AP1 wear more , especially on the very outer edge that the spring contacts. Over rev will for sure increase the failure rate, but even 200k+ mile AP2 retainers don’t seem to fail.

    • @robgerety
      @robgerety 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LHTPerformance Honestly, I think ap1 retainers will last forever as long as the engine is not mechanically over rev'd. I've never heard of a retainer failure without an over rev. Sure looks to me like that motor you worked on was mechanically over rev'd.

    • @LHTPerformance
      @LHTPerformance  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robgerety We’ve seen 20 + motors with cracking retainers. Even changing them as preventative we see them very thin on the edges. Over the past 20 years we’ve changed around 100 sets and on the non cracked retainers, we do see them wear and very thin that would increase the chances of cracking. I’ve never seen AP2 retainers have issues so I think it’s definitely peace of mind when watching the tach hit higher rpm’s. Many S2000s do get over rev’d , a failed retainers will usually destroy a motor. It’s a terrible thing to see.

    • @LHTPerformance
      @LHTPerformance  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @LHTPerformance
