Alright WotC. What's the next thing I want? I started thinking about Spell Jammer and (on a podcast) you revealed some Spell Jammer stuff. I decided to start a campaign using Eberron YESTERDAY, and you released this without me even realizing it had been announced. So... are you going to finalize the Mystic and Artificer next because I'm thinking about those now, or have I broken this strange coincidence by mentioning it.
Really hope that there's going to be a physical book, I'm not really a fan of PDFs.
I would imagine even if there isn't, that there will eventually be a print-on-demand version available from the Dungeons Masters Guild, since they seem to be adding the print-on-demand option for a lot of their products. They did it with the Elemental Evil Player’s Companion, I can't see why they wouldn't do that for this book.
My belief, and what I took from the website, is that is a playtest document under a different name. The offical announcment includes the line, "The first step is the Wayfinder’s Guide to Eberron, a digital release in the Dungeon Masters Guild online marketplace, which will serve to collect feedback on..." Which tells me that this isn't the final release.

This is the first time I've ever been interested in a non forgotten realms setting.
I talked to Keith, and he said that this is a "living" document right now. They are still making revisions and additions. Wizards has implied (but not outright stated) that when the document is finalized a print version will be created. (And what I got out of it is that the PDF will be updated to the final form and we won't have to buy it again, but I'm not 100% on that.)
I'm buying this asap! I've heard what's in it, and it'll save me months of work! I wish it had symbiont examples, but the dragon marked racial traits are a cool solution, and it's nice to know we have updated eberron races. Excellent surprise! 🍺💨

That really sucks, I'd have to have it on my phone as I don't have a tablet or a laptop, and I was really hoping to put the book on my shelf next to the 4th Edition Eberron book.
3rd Edition: Full support for Eberron
4th Edition: Fewer Eberron books
5th Edition: a PDF module and only on the DM's guild, not printed
6th Edition: they might acknowledge the existence of a setting that started with E
They've already stated that this is just the beginning and have every intention for a full release. I get being iffy about buying playtest material but it's also a living document that will be updated.
"Just the beginning" after little short of 4 years after initial release of 5e... and it's a pdf...
It's logical that they want to playtest it. And if people don't like it, then they will make fewer books.

I got hiped about Eberron to 5e, and don't get me wrong, The moments they release a proper Eberron book I will buy it. But I was sad discovering that all its content is nonofficial and it is just a playtest. I still have my 3.5 books of Eberron for the lore I just wanted more classes (Artifice), and feats for 5e in a setting I love. Sorry but I am passing it!
So excited to see this but disappointed it's not hardcover and there's no psionics.
Been using all my 3.5 Eberron for 5th for a bit, really all the source stuff will likely be the same except for some of the mechanics. I’d like to see new artificer though.... also the abilities of the Dragon-marked.
Kelly Parish - the Artificer has been in Unearthed Arcana for quite a while. It's a type of Wizard, and it's actually quite fun. I've been playing one for a few months. My favorite class was always 3.5 Artificer, and while this is different I still feel similar fun when playing now

There's definitely things I always disliked about the Eberron setting. But the basic concept of taking into account the societal effects of widespread, reliable, low-level magic was a real game-changer for D&D.

Is there some reason the camera isn't zoomed out just a bit and the focus not so narrow? The quarter inch between the tip of his nose and his eyes is in focus, but the brim of his hat and his ears are not. Why?
The one setting that has never really grabbed my attention, perhaps I should give it a chance..
How shallow was the lens they used on him? His face is in focus but the back of his hat is out of focus.

Unless if there is a pdf or physical book, my interest is not there. The app is fine, but not really essential in my games.
How similar can two D&D worlds be in concept and not be considered as the same? What is your opinion?
It would be on a case by case basis. They aren't the same unless the place names are the same, but if thematically, practically, and environmentally they're similar enough to be considered ripped from the other, you would have to look at each instance.
It’s great that they’ve moved out of just doing the Forgotten Realms setting but from my understanding this is not an official published book (electronic PDF instead), is still unofficial but is getting continuous updates for free when purchased, and isn’t allowed in adventures league meaning those people aren’t allowed to do anything Eberron related until that changes. By all means it’s great to see the content coming especially for those who don’t know much about Eberron and are interested especially since much of the content is being well received. But at the same time, I can’t help but feel the Magic of The Gathering tie-in book Guildmaster’s guide to Ravnica is making this book more of a “here you go” at the moment. On the flip-side though, considering WOTC are pushing out 3 published books this year there’s a definite time crunch probably and by being digital, Wayfinder’s Path To Eberron can have said issues be sorted out easily in the future. Heck they’ve already stated the Artificer class will be coming for it and Adventure’s League have stated that they want to make campaigns based on it. Also it may get printed after it’s all finalized after play testing so that’s also a thing. By all means I’m glad Eberron is here in some way, shape, or form but it currently to me it seems to be a suppressed product with a promise of eventually being a full book. (PDF payers may likely end up with a full PDF version?) Either way, sorry this post is very long but I just wanted to get my thoughts/opinions out about this.

So Eberron and Toril are like different planets or something?
Yes, they are different planets, but take it a step further and recognize that they exist as planets in separate universes/realities too. Check up on the D&D multiverse concept, which is what explains how there are various settings like Forgotten Realms, Eberron, Greyhawk, Dark Sun, etc. all within Dungeons and Dragons.

A surprising lack of content honestly. No artwork and the content there is limited. The only reason this is a purchase that I would value is because I would hope for 5e Eberron modules etc, not just some reskins.

Hard pass until the hardcover comes out. Hard pass on everything in 2018 so far. Tired of Forgotten realms, keep MtG out, and I'm not paying $20 for a pdf playtest. I play D&D so I don't have to look at a digital screen. Either give us a new and interesting setting (Ravnica is not new) or give a classic setting the proper treatment. Who are you marketing to this year?

Larz The Nerdy Norseman no, this is all playtest content. They had the races in ua, but they’re all different from their ua versions. This also includes lore and magic items.
