I actually really appreciate the complete transparency on this one. One of my biggest pet peeves of all the rebuilds on youtube is nobody ever actually gets into the nitty gritty of the cost. It's always just a video of throwing parts at something till its done, then they give a ballpark number at the end that is most likely way lower than they actually sunk into it. I will definitely be watching this one till the end.

A tractor I think would be fun for you to have a look at would be a Field Marshall, shotgun shell start! (But you have to try starting it by hand, saltpetre is allowed!)

My opinion from the states is skip the rare birds. I found your channel on Ford 3000s and what I would call the mundane reality if enjoying these bits of yard art. I cant buy a field marshall sure I'd love to run a hot bulb diesel in a neutral idle. But. . Its not a tractor that exists in the world like ford Ferguson Massey's white brown etc.

Like a true tractor guy, time never enters the equation. Good on y'all for fixing her up. I'll be intrigued with the progress. Honestly, I would have parted it out, with rarity comes scarce and exponentially pricey parts. But I heartily understand "I've always wanted one". To quote an ambitious US citizen "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!".
Thanks Muck, best regards from Indiana, USA.

really pleased your going to give the 175 a chance, these sort of projects you do cause you want to and to a point the money isn't a factor as such. the amount of stone wall faces i get when people ask how much i spent on my diamond t and i tell them about 40K when i stopped bothering to keep a count lol but i did it because i wanted to and it will be a truck for life. hard to make money out of restoring vehicles to then sell on if not impossible in most cases any way i think.

I have always liked 'process', i.e. know where you start and set out the steps to get you where you are going. Vitally importantly, identify the break points that will stop you achieving your end point. Your discussion clearly set that out, with good, best estimate ballpark figures. I agree, on over estimating costs and times on the way in so, you end up with pleasant, not terrible exit surprises is the way to go.

Good to see you're going to do the 175 , very rewarding to bring something back from being scrapped. When you have that engineering empathy , money isn't the reason, it's just about saving what once was a fairly decent tractor. All the best to you mulord.

i had never thought about the 175 being rare, but yes your right thinking about it , we ran 165’s ,and others ran 185’s around us, and then they went 168’s. and 188’s , i cant recall seeing any 175’s around and in those days it was all mf and fords around where we farmed so i would have seen them ,certainly don’t recall seeing any at the mf dealer we used in downham market where we bought all our mf’s from , nice to see all the thought process in the final decisions as well ,cheers guys . another old girl saved .

Back about half a lifetime ago, my dad had a 1928 John Deere "B" model. Have you seen one of those on your side of the pond? With a 2 cylinder engine, it wasn't the fastest thing around, but it would out pull most similar sized tractors in the late '60's. I haven't seen one around these parts in years now. Loved the breakdown of costs. I would have guessed it would have cost quite a bit more.

Thanks for the video . Glad you are doing the 175, I was thinking there can't be many about after the export and years of abuse. I was at 6 - 7 K on a bad day to do that with parts, tires and paint. I guess you guys have a trade account with somebody like Bepco, that really helps keep costs sensible if you are well connected like that.
In Canada it's hard to get those accounts even with a repair business like mine ,The other repair shops can keep me out because the suppliers ask them when I apply for an account if they mind "can you say protectionist racket". To be honest I don't know a tractor I'd like to see I've seen most of them over the years. Now a digger I'd say a real nice last year proper grey cab 3cx Sitemaster before the plastic ones came out.

A bit random but I used to pass every week a MF 175 @ at roundabout at queens ferry, Deeside back in 1996, with a sandwich board trailer advert hooked to it. Full cast wheels all-round it looked the biss from 60 yards. Always wanted to call in & try & buy it. But with just getting a house for first time, no chance, 24 yrs on got a man cave & 3 tractors. one is a blackhole for money & still not finished. This is the right way to go mucka break it down in to cost, how can you give a cost if your sponsored. watch them parts as well, wheat & chaff. Good vid as always informative no bull.

Right on, Good to see others who can't say no to another project even when you're still working on to meny projects all ready. 👍
Be good to see a Series 2 Field Marshall, you can't beat the sight and sound of them at ticking over.

Lioness, it is based on a fw, I worked on one about 10 years ago in Oxfordshire and a fella brought it in Lincolnshire fantastic bit of kit alison gearbox, just really big fun to drive.

I love watching your videos because you always do real world work so many channels do set up or staged videos while entertaining give people false information or impressions of what is really involved when doing projects I wish I could spend a couple months working with you on some of these projects the knowledge gained would be invaluable

A tractor that would be very interesting to have a look around if you can find one is a Dutra D4K. Was always intrigued with them but no nothing about them

Any one of these not so common tractors would be interesting - MF 9240, Fiat Versatile articulated, Deutz Fahr Intrac, MB Trac.

International T20 crawler. My dad resurrected one when I was a child, but unfortunately it got scrapped. So would be great to see one in action

Looking forward to seeing the progress on the 175. How about looking at a county tractor

Glad to see the 175 will be restored, where my late father worked they had two on 1965 C plates, both with Winsam cabs, one with Multi Power and one without. I didn't know that they were rare now? Another vote for a Muir Hill from me.

I think an old Fiat 1380 dt
We had one on the farm years ago very slow on the road but there was nothing going to stop that old girl and I love my fords but I’ve got to admit the old fiat would pull the TW backwards all day long
