Mick Taylor was the star of this Stones era! The best live version of this song.
Where is he?
1:12
The Best ..Brian doesn't come close
@@lucypotato8793I don’t know where he is now, but in this video he’s standing right behind Mick Jagger.
Keith was always the life blood of the band. I don't think Mick's style suited them at all as great a guitarist as he was.
I think we could all agree on the fact that 1969-1974 the Stones were the best band in this world. Mick Taylor was the best lead guitatist I ever heard.
yes,of course
Yeah, that’s true. But the catch is that the stones before and after Mick T didn’t want a “lead” guitarist, they wanted two guitarists blurring the lines between rhythm and lead. Not to detract anything from Mick Taylor- he’s great. It’s more about pinpointing the tastes of the band.
The Stones best era was the 70's with Mick Taylor
Sublime. Stones at their zenith, The Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World.
I believe this is the Stones at their best.
Donald Campbell agree
The Rolling Stones are always the BEST. No argument needed.
you're right!
Let It Bleed, Beggars Banquet, Sticky Fingers and most of Exile are peak years, but they were great before and up to Tattoo You which has legitimate classics on it. Three decades is more than most bands who have a few great albums and tail off, they did it live without wanking or hiding in the studio.
Beggars is as close as a bunch of white boys came to legit blues and country.
I think that was mostly Keith's record. Perfect time for Mick Taylor to add his bluesy rock shredding to the fold.
The Marquee Club. An intimate setting.
For me the Mick Taylor era is the Stones at their best , with the southern sound bringing out the best in their performances..
Then you never listened to the Brian Jones era
@@user-xt8ij4wb5i brian jones was my fav stones
You are absolutely right. They were at their peak.
It absolutely was their best era with Mick Taylor!
Mick is a better guitarist than Ronny. but Ronny is a very, very good guitarist and is more of a showman on stage.
God damn, mick taylor is so underrated on how he contributed to the stones. His lead work is pure perfection in my opinion.
The Stones were great before and after his tenure, but he was the best musician who ever played in the band for my money.
Everybody crazy for Mick Taylor while Bill Wyman plays one of the best bass lines ever
In studio Keef plays the bass
Bill Wyman😂😂😂 nobody cares about this guy. 0 charisma. He is a pedophile too. The Worst Stone.
@@stevenamato6289No Bill played this one in the studio
its not a competition . but you are correct.
Somehow I'm not able to isolate the bass sound....
Mick Taylor just shredding it as usual!!!!!
Wonderful 😊 musician Mick Taylor. Mooi❤
Agreed! He kills it!
The quality of this recording is extraordinary. And Keith's giggling like, dude, I'm fucked up right now.
2:33 There's something magical about Mick's playing, as if the guitar tells you that everything is alright. Lifts up the whole song.
Love the smile Keith does when Mick sings about the needle and spoon. It's a quick shot. I pushed back a few seconds to catch it again.
Never spotted that before. Good eyes! Haha.
Holy shit. Mick Taylor is a genius with a guitar.
The Stones at their absolute best with Mick Taylor! They never again created music of this caliber after his departure.
🥀RocK LiVeS!🥀
Totally agree with you sir !
@@patrick6662 🤘🏻👅🤘🏻
The best guitarist they ever had!
@@thepittsburghkid39 🤘🏻
What i love about the Stones is Keith kept everything simple in the fundamental construction of song. But then with the added musicality of Mick Taylor between 69 to 74 combined with Keith's love for country infused bluesy rock and roll it was all so perect. From 68 to 74 really. But i loved everything up to 81 as well. And all the hits between 64-68 were pretty great in their own incohesive way too.
Mick Taylor years the best Stones era!
Bill Wyman years for me.
The Stones at their sarcastic best. Mick & Keith having fun behind the mic, Mick Taylor sublime guitar and Bill & Charlie effortlessly providing the heartbeat to the song
Its perfection.
@@crisprtalk6963 so true !!!!! 🥰🥰👃✌️
Rolling Stones.....enough said.!!😉🎵🎶
Very twangy, interspersed with some really sarcastic lyrics. You’re so right. ✌️🎸
@@michaelbirke6050 far away eyes is funny sarcasticc twangy as well
One of the best country songs ever….I get a lump in my throat every time I hear it thinking about some people we lost drugs
Yes, so, so true. And the drugaddicts are sick, they realy need HELP!!!!!!!
Never thought I'd say this, but at this moment Keith Richards is the countriest thing on Planet Earth.
Bill’s deadpan expression while just ripping it up on bass is classic Stones to me. Some people don’t like his on stage demeanor, and for sure you couldn’t have the whole band play that way. But having that one guy play that way while everyone else is jumping and jiving is the essence of the Stones.
Charlie and Mick Taylor aren’t very animated either.
@@yragj6556 true. All three of them are pretty deadpan. I can see why Keith likes having Ronnie to clown around with, but I’ll take this level of musicianship no matter what it looks like.
I saw the Stones live four times while Bill Wyman was their bassist and I would find myself just watching him casually laying down some of the best bass lines ever!
Mick is wonderful at the level he gave to the Stones, Keith seems like a rabid cat screaming. Luck gives life.
A band at the top of its game. Mick Taylor's lead fills are the icing on the cake.
God i wish i was older so i coulda seen them in their prime im 28 but my soul is old according to my great grandma
Mick Taylor deserves a special thank you for playing such cool guitar in this version. Charlie, Bill, Mick Jagger, and Keith also deserve thanks. Excellent performance by each member in this version. Excellent work by Rolling Stones.
Funny aint it? I never liked Mick Taylor, don't get me wrong, he's a brilliant musician, I just never thought he was a Rolling Stone. They wanted Stevie Ray Vaughan to join, but he had his own plans. Then Ronnie Wood, oh yes, now we have it, a charismatically ugly rythum guitarist, English band again, and straight back to the way it should be.
@@cunobelinusX31 No. Everyone has their own preferences. To me, Rolling Stones were at their best in MT years. Even it can be argued that MT was at his peak when he was a part of Rolling Stones. I am not a particular fan of the early era of Rolling Stones. Likewise, in 1980s and onwards RS deteriorated just like everyone else did.
@@sh230968 They were like great athletes in their prime. Ronnie Wood is a helluva guitarist, but has never really Let It Loose pun intended, like with The Faces.
Over busy. A hundred notes where ten-fifteen will do.
@@steveconn Exactly. But you know what Mick Taylor is never excessive with his display of skill. Very decent as a person and a hugely skillful guitarist.
Mick Taylor: Never flashy, always tasteful, seriously underrated and sadly overlooked
He was truly one, if not the best, player of his generation. His talents were overshadowed by Mick and Keith, but his melodic, blistering leads made the Stones the greatest music show on earth.
+jbstonesfan I COMPLETELY AGREE!!!!
+John McSorley He's not overlooked by true Stone's fans: we idolize him!
+John McSorley The best thing that ever came the Stones way...
+John McSorley I saw them in '72 and saw Taylor on the club circuit (Max Middleton on piano) several times after. Always loud and clear, never sloppy, no blurred or missed notes. MT easily my favorite Stones period. Period.
they all look so completely delicious what a precious moment in time
The best version of Dead Flowers I've heard, really exceptional, cool as fck and the Taylor solo is absolutely perfect, no need for loads of overdrive etc.
Take a listen to the Mick Jagger & Jerry Lee Lewis version it's stellar! A real rockin' tune!
Live 72 version is the best
I think the 72 in Texas was better. Keith vocals were amazing there.
Take a look - th-cam.com/video/RS_yyRk_dj8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=s5pvro2Os4WQbEBj
Mick Taylor is amazing. Great song from Jagger and Richards, but Taylor makes it memorable. Thank you
So good to see Charlie Watts and Mick Taylor...😎🎸💯
The original group, Mick Taylor, Bill Wyman, Keith Richards, Mick Jagger and Charlie Watts! Damn Good 👍
Now only two originals left….
I'm 70 now. Listened to the Stones from the Sixties all these years. Others can have the Beatles [they didn't last!] but the Stones have kept Rollin' On. Dead Flowers will do me, don't want no roses when you've got the Stones playing at your wedding and at your grave!!!
Mick Taylor is fucking rocking that SG in this.
I love it when the Stones play country music. The lyrics are unbelievable (also in German). God bless the Rolling Stones.
The look Keith gives to Mick when the verse in my basement room with a needle and a spoon is classic!
This is the best version of this song imo.
Yes, maybe. Mick is utterly British here, much more than in the studio version.
No doubt I hear ya
Mick Taylor is smoking here, what guitar work in this song, the best version of it with out a doubt
The Stones at their Absolute Finest
😎💯
This is THE lineup. The Stones at their best.
Mick Taylor just fucking shredding it, without even raising a sweat.
Absolutely INCREDIBLE
easily the best stones era... best tunes, best lineup
major D pentatonic scale ...
Who is mick taylor?
Guitarist
This live version is something special😍 Those were the days...
It sounds as good as the LP version, if not better.
3:53 of rock n roll perfection
@@tmaziar4116 yup, ya nailed it.... 🤘🤘🥰🇨🇦
This specific performance is the best! I listen to the film all the time. Easy song performance is better than any other live recording and better than the studio recording. Exceptional!
This “golden” period corresponds exactly with my teen years and they are etched on my memory. Never gets old.
THIS is the Rolling Stones band I fell in love with. Mick Taylor is just fantastic here.
Yeah I agree The Stones between 68 and 74 were amazing Bad Ass to the bone. Great shows with great songs. Love this stuff. Glenn Augustyn
So's the cocaine.
The first time hearing Midnight Rambler on Ya Ya's blew me away at the ripe age of 14.
Mick Taylor may be the most underrated guitar player. Watch his hands
And he was only20
Listening to this after I bumped into Mick Taylor in a supermarket yesterday, totally unexpected! An experience I will never forget as a lifelong Stones fan.
In London?
@@SargonofQueens No in a small Dutch village.
Cool
That would be so amazing. He's out shopping like us mere mortals.
Estilo Rolling Stones Rokabilly ONLY ONE.
Mick Taylor is a criminally underrated member of the band. His guitar defined the signature sound of the Stones' best era.
He should be,he served his apprenticeship with John mayall and the blues breakers.
Did not know that. Apprenticeship huh?@ianstewart119
Had to go blond for 72 tour..
State Federal or internatioal Criminal? Ridiculous!
@@JeffreyWilliams-dr7qehe wore a giant white affro wig sometimes in concert!
Beautiful solo by Mick Taylor... My favourite Dead Flowers version
The harmony vocals make this whole song
Keith's great, too 😍💯👅💋🎶 I've been on three concerts with these wonderful guys, and they were fantastic!!! THANKS, Rolling Stones!
Keith & Mick, nothing better.
Love it too, thanks!
One of my favorites. Sweet Virginia is another.
I have been blessed with a very long life and have listened to this great band since "Satisfaction" was broadcast to the west coast in 'S 1965 . I believe I may listen to something new by them in 2025. . . that would be 60 great years on top of my/our musical world 🎶🌎🎵Thanks guys!
Honestly the Rolling Stones are my favorite country band.
Dead Flowers, Sweet Virginia, Far Away Eyes, how could they not be?
Mick Taylor's guitar solo Is everywhere in the song
To solo like that in a song n keep up !
THE BEST ALBUMS WERE WITH MICK
On ever record he's on, his runs & slides are fucking awesome!!!!
all over the place quality
@@MrDickycampilongo Once Taylor left the Band the Stones lost their soul.
I’m digging Keith’s vocals
Underrated!
I am digging EVERYTHING!!!! What a band!
I'd forgotten what he originally looked like!
Keith’s vocals make any song better
He's probably better singer than Mick, but well being a front man is not as easy as it looks , i mean it must be hard to keep the same concentration on each song in a concert
On one of the best albums ever made.
I love those days❤
The Stones at their best
RIP Charlie Watts ❤️
The Mick Taylor years were the absolute best!
This song ❤️ 🎵 💕 is definitely bad ass,it's a country song 🎵 talking about addiction 🎉🎉. Mick and Keith are the songwriting geniuses 🎉🎉. They both have amazing talent 🎉🎉. That's what separates them from everyone else 🎉🎉
You can’t beat The Stones when Mick Taylor was in the band!!!!! What great lead guitar player!!!!
Dead Flowers is the perfect song to showcase Mick Taylor's playing - as lyrical and flowing as Duane Allman and Dicky Betts at their best.
Sky Dog!
nobody ain’t touching allman
He overplays a bit imo, but yeah some nice licks
This was the era of effortless greatness for the Stones.
They even did Americana as well as the Grateful Dead, the songwriting was top notch.
Marquee 1971 was one of the best performances they ever had. Keith once said that they have always been a small club band. You can hear that here.
Keith looked like an absolute nightmare god I love him
the quality of this video is nothing short of genius forethought
Mick Taylor is an absolute beast
He was a phenom JUST amazing
He was really the only Stone who knew how to do it and knew the scales. Absolutely splendid.
Brought such feel and soul
Yep .... and he was only 22 here ....! Hard to believe ....
Not to mention Pete Beast
Mick Taylor was one of the best all around guitarists ever .
Absolutely! One of three all time greatest!
Agreed! My favorite Stones eras were both with Brian Jones and Mick Taylor. You can keep Ronnie Wood. He took the Stones in a different direction. For me, it was downhill.

Best version of this song on TH-cam. The 'Stones did great country music.
Better than most country artists.
Actually the 1972 version is better IMHO
This era of The Rolling Stones was their peak, because Wyman and Taylor were literally filling in every gap that Richards couldn’t fill. The band was red hot and tight !! Long live the Stones … RIP Mr Watts 🥁🔥
Yep
Best Rolling Stones concert of all time. It must have been amazing for those people able to attend in person.
His timing and choice of riffs were impeccable.
*Mick Taylor,* a superb musician. Thanks to him, the Stones became the best rock'n'roll band of the planet.
Cheers and Flowers for you !
Mick Taylor is a genius.thnks Mick..u go boyyyy...
some of the best video showing the stones & the true chemistry between mick & Keith and the underrated skills of mick Taylor...best stones lineup....hands down
Mick Taylor's playing is just incredible here; those ultra-smooth runs and licks. Awesome.
Oldmotherhell Yes, he absolutely stuns me.
Oldmotherhell Always thought he blows away Keith.
dnatz58 I wouldn't say he blows his away as they are such different styles. That iswhy I loved the way they worked so well together...so unique.
Oldmotherhell Unusually for a guitarist, he's using ampeg bass amps putting out 300watts of tone. Combine this with vintage Gibson guitars and immaculate touch and you get that divine creamy tone.
haggai samuelson That's incredible...bass amp, huh? Great anecdote to remember.
The Stones were untouchable at that time. Greatest band in the world during the Mick Taylor years.
Mick Taylor is smooth as glass.
I'm not so sure it isn't the great Bill Wyman who steals the show on this little jewel....Good Lord, what a rock and roll band they were at their prime...and what a legacy they leave...won't nobody be filling those shoes for long time if ever! Thanks for the joy that you've given me!
Agreed! Bill’s tone and timing on this number is so great. Great performance by all of course but dang, Bill punched it up made this one roll.
Bill played a fine bass !!!!
Wish I could zoom in on the bass playing.
Fuck the bass.

Sounding like they sound here, it's amazing they even cut a record
I don’t know why but this song makes me cry….
What joy Mick Taylor's guitar work brings to my heart....smiling from ear to ear!
Wow, Mick Taylor just steals the show throughout the whole song, amazing virtuoso. Was lucky to see him live in early 90s
Just passing by and reminding you this is the best Rolling Stones you are ever going to get! There was just no one rocking and rolling like these guys, especially with Mick T
I’ve always loved this song. And then when I saw the video? Omg. Took on a whole new meaning and I love it. My brother was in the Air Force until he died at 40 urs old. So it really really hits hard? But the message is great. And I do love him as always here or gone.
Mick doesn’t miss a note! That’s how great he was and is…
You Gotta Love The Rolling Stones...
@The Fountainhead how can anyone not love The Rolling Stones whoever doesn’t love The Rolling Stones they don’t don’t like music then they hate Rock Music
Mick, best guitarist in the history of the Rolling Stones.🎶
The Rolling Stones in their peak years. Best rock & roll band ever. Richards & Taylor playing together is fabulous!
Mick Taylor!!!!! Amazing!
At there peak, stunning.
RIP Charlie
RIP Charlie . Rock & Roll won’t be the same without you .
This is such a historic monstrosity of a video! Never - Ever will there be another Mick jagger or another rolling stones! Truly the greatest rock n roll band of all time! For those who can't comprehend that statement ..... Simply said - I truly feel sorry for you! RIP ~ Charlie!
Thank you for a 1/2 century of great Rick n roll! See you on the other side my friend!
Great song !!!!
This song is over 50 years old and remains forever one of the best of the Stones. How young they were all those years ago 🤨... and in 2022 they are still playing 💪
They have accompanied me throughout my life, without them I would miss a lot
Who’d figure a British band would put together one of the greatest country western songs of all time
Mick Taylor was amazing. Really wish he would've stuck around for a few more albums, but I'm very thankful for what we got.
Mick Taylor is so smooth and great.
