      @@Angie2343 Yep. Its actually a pretty cool little story. It starts as micky dreams of the Disney stories that we know, but then the villain's come in and turn it into a "nightmare fantasmic", then mickey starts to dream of heroes fighting the villain's, ending with maleficent doing a "I'll do it myself moment". Then when all looks lost, Mickey stands up as its his dream, and conducts water to put out the dragon fire (In Florida Mickey dreams of the sword in the stone so he can pull it and shoot a firework at maleficent).

    I retired from the DFD (Disneyland Fire Dept) in 2010. I was a Fire Captain in charge of Disney’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) . I can only speak of the fire protection that was on site when I worked there. With all the financial strain on Disney since COVID I’m sure there have been many personnel cuts, maybe even effecting their Fire Protection. Each night there are about 10 Firefighters stationed around the Park to protect the property from Pyro ( fireworks fall out ) . There was 3 fire trucks on property and 1 fire boat. During the Fantasmic show there is a firefighter stationed inside the cabin behind the Dragon. He has access to two fire hoses and fuel shut off. There is also a ERT crew of 4 firefighters in the Park from 6am - 11:30pm sometimes later depending if there is a additional Pyro show. They have access to the fire boat that can reach the island. From what I can see from this video there was a attempt to shoot water on the fire but that was very brief as the fire stream disappeared in about 1 minute. I did not see the Fire Boat deployed. Fire Fighters can reach the island via the barges. I did not see any barges but they could reach the island from the other side of the island. Anaheim Fire Department (AFD )should have been called but who knows if they know how to get to the island unless a DFD firefighter shows them how. Once AFD is on property they will take over the incident.

      That’s exactly what I thought when I saw it.-budget cuts. (Grew up there, have seen this show many times. Know all about Disney safety. )
      Many people have blinders on but Disney is actually in major financial trouble. They have been for some time. Budget cuts and endless price increases have also brought about layoffs. This type of thing scares me because it means that safety checks and maintenance may be being overlooked. Rides are breaking down ALL THE TIME now. Just waiting for the other shoe to drop and to here about a ride malfunction causing a bunch of people to get killed. (As in the case of thunder mountain railroad) it’s only a matter of time.

      Or maybe Mickey had too powerful of an attack and that set the fire in the first place.
      I actually knew the real reason why the fire started:
      So the animatronic shot the first round of fire and as the next was coming up the mouth stopped moving and it’s head caught fire.

    This video is important. It can be used to investigate what caused it.
    If you look closely, the dragon was supposed to let out the fire fully, but it did not, it let out only some fire, with smoke.
    So maybe something got stuck that prevent the gas from flowing out fully. Maybe the valve inside the dragon’s mouth did not open properly.
    The fire was ignited, but the gas was not fully let out, and it accumulated inside the head.

      Yeah, it probably all just built up in the head, haven’t seen the show in a while but if I remember a charge is supposed to fire off from the head after Mickey defeats her, it looks like that lit the excess gas and caused the initial fire.

    • @Tomsonic41
      @Tomsonic41 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you look closely at 0:50 you can see some kind of fluid dripping from the dragon's mouth. I reckon this was the gasoline for the fire-breathing effect. Obviously some connector or pipe broke and caused it to empty into the head, then when the igniter tried to go off again it caused the fire to start.

My husband and I were there when it caught fire but we were on the train in new Orleans square and saw the initial flaming fuel falling down on the belly of the dragon and knew it wasn't normal. By the time the train reached the rivers of America side we could see the smoke billowing over the trees and when we got to tomorrowland we tried to run across the park to take a look but by then they were not allowing anyone in there. Pretty crazy. RIP Maleficent April 22nd 2023.

    Happened at 11 PM, an hour before St. Georges Day (who killed the dragon), but in this plot it was MIckey who killed the dragon. There are probably lots of disgruntled employees who were or are about to be laid off. It seems odd that an animatronic made of such fire resistant material would burn completely and so fast. It has lasted for many decades so far. I like how the comical frontierland music kicked in immediately after, just like a comedy sketch. Frank Drebin would say, "Move Along, Nothing To See Here!"

    Unfortunately, with pyrotechnics that shoot from the mouth, whether it's fire or the sparks/fireworks that go off...all it takes is one misfire for it to all go wrong. With the advancements Disney has made in image mapping effects, they could easily make it look like she's being electrocuted without using pyrotechnics (the new Indiana Jones effects on Mara) ...it's a very expensive and emotional loss. Finally someone smart enough to show the footage before the fire so I could see what happen. I know what caused it now. You can see fluid (possible hydraulic fluid or butane) pouring out of the mouth of the dragon before the fire starts. The fluid is very flammable. The pyro sets the flammable fluid on fire inside of the mouth first and it spreads upwards to the top of the head. All the flames you see dripping down is fluid on fire. I'm wonder why they did not have a sensor to shut down the show if the fluid pressure was dropping. With that size of a leak, the pressure had to be dropping big time so how come there was not a E shut off for the flammable fluid? If there would of been then only the head would of got toasted.
