- Weeks worth of rubbish has piled up in east London after binmen went on a two-week strike over pay.
Mounds of boxes, bin bags and crates have been discarded at the roadside and remain uncollected amid the walkout.
Lord Alan Sugar, who is from east London, said on Monday the "stock pile of garbage" was shocking.
In a post on Twitter, he said: "I am riding through Bethnal Green Road in Hackney, my old Manor. I am shocked at the stock pile of garbage that is all over the pavements. It is not days of stuff it looks like weeks. What is going on?"
It comes after more than 200 council workers started striking on September 18 when Unite members rejected the national local government pay increase offer of £1,925, which the union said was below the rate of inflation.

It’s disgusting. For the price of council tax they charge Londoners streets should shine! What if people start piling rubbish in front of councils or councillors houses, would they leave it like that?!

The majority of Tower Hamlets now have white middle class/wealthy people moving in. It's the running of the council that is corrupt. They don't know how to spend the council tax/rent money. All Lutfer Rahman does is spend it on cheap decorators. In this last case, the job was not done brilliantly.

Hold on. I pay over £1400 council tax plus extra £150 a year for bins to be cleaned once every 4 weeks. Why is there a strike? I can use this money to dump my own bags at recycling centre then

Reminds me a bit of being a courier on a bike or van. The executives are educated the facilities are often modern the computerisation is first class from sorting and sifting to transporting material aborad. The fleet is current and no expense too much and the education is costly to get everywhere as , well we all now know to recycle and the organisation of councils and private companies and driving agencies is a perfect and again expensive matter.
Yet..... at the end of this tragic pyramid is the humbel driver and runner in a cab from 3 am onwards in all conditions with still.... rusty bins with broken wheel's on as ALWAYS the lowest wage throughout this entire process
