    Stop talking about all of this like it's a good thing. The native English culture has been destroyed. There is nothing binding the people of Tower Hamlets together, apart from bland materialism and consumerism. People living 'side by side' does not mean they interact at all, so stop singing the praises like its a good thing.

    There are now only 31% white English living there. Must be a lot of tension there with all those different nationalities with different beliefs and cultures. People tend to prefer to be with their own kind. I wouldn't feel safe walking around there during the day, let alone at night. Horrible housing as well. High rise slums.

      There was a bit of tenison's between the far right white people and some bengali 20 years ago but now it's just fine and there's no racial tension or violence in tower hamlets

    Interesting to hear the various opinions on crime this i think reflects the ''diversity'' To some people rape ,vandalism ,stealing is not a crime while for others who are of a different culture it is.Feel sorry for the scots ex-soldier he as wasted 25 years of his life fighting for the right to expire in such surroundings.

    Lived here for three years, loved it. Gets an undeserved bad reputation. Most of the people are lovely, no worse than anywhere else. Shame the same
    can't be said for our former disgraced mayor

      I am planning to move to Tower Hamlets but a bit concerned about the safety because of all this news and drug misuse. What do you think based on your experience

    • @djaikniffsta
      @djaikniffsta 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@urwashahid9210 you'll be fine if you're sensible i.e. avoid the drug dealers, don't walk alone at night etc. It's not the prettiest to look at, but most people are friendly and it's more run down than dangerous, and a lot of money has been pumped into regeneration schemes etc. so it's not even as run down as it once was. I lived there three years and the worst thing that happened to me was that some local kids set a motorbike on fire close to our flat block, so make of that what you will. There are defo worse places to live out there, it's cheap for its location (still expensive though) and plenty going on both locally and in the city, which you won't be far from at all. I loved it and wouldn't think twice about moving back if I got a job in London.

    Why is diversity seen as a good thing ?

    • @urwashahid9210
      @urwashahid9210 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because you get to learn from different groups and they get learn from you. It's good to mingle and accept each other and not feel privileged over someone else because of your race.

    It's historically inaccurate to state that Bengalis came to Tower Hamlets in the 1970s as there are police records that go back to 1700s that identify Bengalis living in the Brick Lane area. The community was small then, it grew rapidly in 1940-60s due to work being availble in the shiping industry. During this time most of the larger mosques sprung up as converted flats. During the 70s and early 80s the seamen laskers brought over their wives and families to live in the UK. This is where your documentary cuts our whole history to. Your forgiven because its Islam channel, cant expect much.

      In the 1700s "Bangladesh" did not exist, nor such a thing as "Bengali nationalist" exist.
