In an awful incident yesterday 73 year old British Geoff Kitchen - from Britain - died and several others were injured after their Singapore Airlines flight from London was hit by severe turbulence.
According to flight tracking data, the plane dropped a mile in a matter of minutes...

Carole Malone on Vine this morning straight for the off button
It didn't drop 6000 feet. I feel like people cannot read graphs/plots and notice how the gradient for the climb/ascent on the left is the same at the descending gradient on the right.
I downloaded the data from flight radar and there is a small brief bump in altitude at around 07:49 UTC with a very high rate ascent and descent, giving rise to a change in height of ~300ft. This is about 10 minutes prior to a pleasant and gradual descent by 6-7000 feet over several minutes. There was no sudden drop by 6-7000 feet, that would be a nose dive at high velocity. Honestly, please double check with an actual expert or pilot familiar with how heavier-than-air flight works.
I dont know why people are scared of flying 🤔
Its crashing that scares me.
Never been on a plane...
1. It might drop in the middle of the ocean.
2. It might crash into the side of a mountain.
3. 9/11 type of thing.
4. I could be sitting next to someone like Piers Morgan for 15 hours.
5. Could get on the wrong plane like Kevin McAllister in Home Alone 2 and meet Donald Trump.
