Haswell is very viable today, especially with the cheap price of DDR3 making it very viable, sure it's not as good value as 1155, but its easy to find both new and used. Great Video Man! Especially loving those orchestral greenmarks.
Budget-Builds Official looked up 8 gb stick ddr3 sodimm on best buy's website ( electronics retailer) and I got this price. www.bestbuy.com/site/pny-8gb-1-6-ghz-pc3-12800-ddr3-sodimm-laptop-memory/4680400.p?skuId=4680400 It is 90 bucks. It used to be 40
Every time a green ham gaming video comes out, it really is an occasion to sit down and get a drink. Although he doesn't release videos very often, when he does, it's always quality content. The production quality that goes into his videos are amazing, and they're always very entertaining. I love watching, and I'm waiting for the next video!
Something about this guys camera skills and editing just blows most other content creators away (An they are professionals doing this full time). Did you ever have any formal training or is it just talent?
i think its a combination of talent, artistic direction and a drive for perfection in quality. could justify why periods between uploads are so long (also not a fulltime youtuber). i wouldnt be surprised if hes the kind guy to finish an entire video, making a detailed script and all, only to scrap it after watching the final product because its not up to his standards
My 12 year old HP 8000 Elite with a Core 2 Quad Q8300, GT1030, Samsung SSD, 250GB HDD and 8GB RAM is still hella fast to this very day. It has costed me a total of 92$. I love the flip-up style of the PSU and the 5.25/floppy bay. Anyways, great video as always!
My favorite channel on the entirety of youtube. There is just a certain atmosphere to these videos that I cannot find anywhere else, I'm constantly looking forward to the next video. Cheers from the other side of the world!
I did the same thing with my gaming rig. Bought a prebuilt hp (8300 elite SFF) and slapped a GT1030 in it. It has a i5 3470, 8gb of ram, 500 GB hard drive, and a GT1030. (also a proprietary power supply that is 240 watts, ugh). it even came with a win 10 pro license. the PC itself cost 200 dollars, and the GPU was 80 dollars. (US currency). 280 bucks, decent DOOM 4 Machine with low settings at 720p and 60 fps 99% of the time. (doesn't drop below 50). Not bad for me, huh?
Not at all! In the future you could probably go up to a GTX 1050 ti or when Volta comes out maybe there will be a new low wattage GPU equivilent to a GTX 1060 that you could use! But for now the GT 1030 is a great budget low power GPU.
That is by far one of the best used deals on the market today. Its the best way to introduce an unsure gamer into the PCMR! Also the quality and camera work in your videos has increased dramatically! Keep up the great work!
Awesome video! You motivated myself to try doing a budget build. I spent 340 on the whole system including windows 10 in the total price. The PC had an older generation i5 that is an ivy bridge that suppports the socket H2 type/ i5-3470. My GPU is a Radeon 6850 with 1GB of memory size that did pretty well and supported DirectX11. I picked up a bronze 520 watt PSU. I then picked up a board online that supported the ivy bridge processors/ H2 type. The downsides to the system is the 4GB of memory that has a lower frequency at 1333MHz and the HDD is an older mechanical drive but I will switch it out eventually. I am making a video on it now as something fun to do. Once again great job with your videos man!
OC your Q6600! If your motherboard doesn't support OCing, do a BSEL (tape) mod to instantly OC the Q6600 to over 3 ghz! Upgrade the RAM too and you can extend your PC's life a little more.
i remember during my high school years the computer lab had these pc's. Seeing how this PC performs, I'm honestly impressed at how every high school manages to make those computers extremely slow
Glad to see a new video. This channel has always had some of the best production value of any technology Channel. You can see the soul and effort put into every video and you are kept intrigued until the end.
Goodness dood, watching your videos is like a guilty pleasure of mine. You haven't posted in awhile right? This is the perfect way to end the night. Plus your b roll on the intro was perfect.
I could say that about one of my GPUs (while at 100% use), but that's because I like sub-zero overclocking. Its hard to sweat when your max load temp is cold enough to condense air moisture into ice on the back of the card.
Man, often time his videos do not apply to me, I just watch because he is a great film maker. Good with music, visuals, and it's always entertaining! Keep it up. I don't mind a wait for a few minutes of absolute bliss.
In this case with problems with the motherboard, they can use only external GPU with the external power supply to help GPU work. :/ Anyway 1030 is still great chose but, we can see they don't give medium settings in more demanding games.
I’ve had this idea except a Radeon GPU another great idea and video. Your videos always has that extra relaxing and pleasant experience. Another great episode!!!
Your "Incredible i5 Dell" video convinced me to buy a Sandy Bridge system and I didn't regret it one bit. It came out to be a HP 8200 Elite, not a Dell unit, but still perfectly viable with a 1050 Ti and a slightly faster i5-2500 at 1080p with the newest titles. And it runs off of it's OEM PSU just fine, though since it's a CMT model, it has a 320W unit.
This old HP has much more power to be utilized. Although those odd connectors really hold it back. Great job working with what you had and the production quality has improved tremendously.
My first handful of PCs were Elite 8000 series SFF machines. The PSU situation is actually really simple, you can just snip off the stock power connectors and terminate the loose ends with ATX pins and jam 'em into your 24-Pin for the new PSU. All the cables are preeeety much the standardised colour codes for ATX, like, black is ground, yellow is +12v, blue is -12v, and green is the power check. If I recall there was something finicky about the red and white wire on connector labelled "P2", something about it drawing power off the board to run the fan in the PSU, cant remember what it was but pretty sure you can just disregard them in a PSU replacement and everything works out fine. First proper "gaming" PC was an Elite 8000 with a Q9505 and a GTX 560, had to Dremel dirty great holes in the side for the PSU and GPU to poke out of but it worked like a charm for years.
Absolutely fantastic cinematography on this episode. Cool to see the i5-4590 appear in your videos as well, the computers at my school use that exact chip.
Inspired by your videos, I bought a $240 AUD, Lenovo ThinkCentre with an i7 2600; an old Nvidia Quadro; 1TBs of storage; Windows 10 Pro and 16GBs of DDR3 RAM. I ended up returning it because it kept constantly crashing for unclear reasons and because I felt DDR3 and Sandy Bridge weren't future proof. They seemed kinda risky having around due to Spectre and Meltdown. The RAM is valued up to $200 AUD in retail, and for the other $40, the rest of the PC is pretty good. However, since I no longer had any need for another PC with aging components, especially since I also ended up building another PC with a Ryzen 1600. I ultimately decided that I'm happier refunding it.
Until 2017, my school had some Core2's optiplexes with some strange gpu, now they are changing to Skylake/Kabylake machines, a huge jump in performance, but I wish they had those Haswell in mine
Love you videos. Your videos give me back the classic vibes of the 90s. The video itself and the content are always much more unique than other TH-camrs. Great work man. You should upload more. Cheers 👍👍👍👍
well damn, i just put a 4570 in my gaming PC as an upgrade from a Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition. I'm just in the process of sourcing a GTX 770 4GB for it as well. Good times :D
Jodeth oh of course! My best mate had an A8 6600K and he bought a 4790K. He originally had a GTX 750 Ti and now eventually has a GTX 1070 xD. But yeah, i upgraded my PC cos he bought Ark Survival Evolved, i played it and then wanted it. So i upgraded my system and he bought the game for me. Now i just need that GTX 770. Just out of curiosity, how did you find you old 940 Black?
That's cool, man! My old 940 got the job done well back then. Handled everything I was currently playing at the time (L4D2, Crysis 2, BioShock, Just Cause 2, Killing Floor, etc.), until newer games started recommending a beefier CPU, so I upgraded to the i5 for The Evil Within and Dying Light. Now I have an i7 4790 (just got it last week) and it's freaking fast! No game I own makes it sweat, except for BF1 (multiplayer) on Ultra settings, but that's okay because High settings still look incredible. My friend actually had (or still has) a GTX 770. It was a damn good gpu for its time. I remember being at his house years ago seeing his frame rates sky high in a few modern games. Envious I was... Haha. Jk. I had a 660 Ti that I was very happy with.
LGA 1150 just so happens to be my 4670K's home.. I feel like it will go down as another forgotten 1 year but also amazing platform that will continue hold up over time, only really held back by raw core count and faster newer generation memory, Paired with my GTX 970 It still slays.. Excellent video as always.
Being on a very tight and limiting budget this is my pc, I7 2600k Gtx 550 Ti 8gb Ddr3 240gb ssd (I got it as a gift) 500gb hdd 1400x900 monitor I’ve never had a problem running these titles at lower resolutions (1366x768) at medium to low settings.
Hold onto that i7, that is still a beast of a CPU, dare I say it, high end. In the future you definitely have a GPU upgrade path. An overclocked 2600k won't even bottleneck a GTX 1080.
We got these to replace the Xp machines at my High School and I must say steam runs pretty darn well. It could be because we're using the lab models but I am not sure. Don't remember specifics. Ours did have SSDs I know that and they had a lot more local storage on the network drive compared to some of the 7 machines.
I've been using one of these for the last year and a half as my HTPC. Gifting it to a friend for Christmas and building a bit of an upgrade for myself.
You make a good point on budget PC pricing if you're aiming for a higher end experience. I've got a Dell Precision T3500 that cost me about 450. $240 on GTX 1060 6 GB $210 for base system and another 1TB HDD. All in all it's running 12 GB RAM, i7 980x, 3x 1TB HDD, GTX 1060 6GB I've had PCs that barely run games at 720p on lowest settings and you can find those for dirt cheap, but if you find them deals you can run a high-end budget system under 500.
I see a lot of people commenting saying that the 1050 Ti will not work. Either due to a limitation of power being delivered to the PCIe slot or because the PSU can't reliably supply enough power. I have one of these a decided to see if that was the case. It works just fine. The PCIe slot is not being limited on power. The GPU ramps up to the full boost and memory clocks. As for the PSU, while it is only rated a 240 watts, even while encoding a Blu Ray to max the CPU and benchmarking the GPU in Heaven, the entire system was pulling 125 watts max from the outlet. I have the i3 4360 in it, even with an i5 4690 it will pull around 200 watts max. I tested it out, playing some games, for a couple of hours without any issues.
If have enough views/subscribers you get access to scheduled publish which allows you to keep a video unlisted until a planned date/time where it will appear as if it was uploaded at that time. That allows videos to be instantly live without YT having to process and viewers having to watch at 480p etc. At least that's what my best guess is.
Ahh , i remember when i first built my very first computer based on hasswell, g3258 and a gtx750 , ahhh great times , i even sent you a photo and got into one of your videos !
Caboose i have tried, the school board member who takes care of all of that (who happens to be my grandmother's friend) said she would get me one, but she never has gotten me anything, its been nearly a year and I have reminded her a few times.
In our school, we have a few xeons and i7 workstations and then there's some i5s and i3s. We still have some core 2 duos and pentium 4s in service though.
First off, I'm STILL running an i7 4790k in my build. When I built it in 2014, it was top of the line. i7, 290x, fast ass 16GB ram, other goodies. Haswell is incredibly competent at modern gaming. If you're looking into it on a budget, it's hard to beat. Second, Mr. GreenHam, I believe you are one of the most underrated accounts on TH-cam. Your unique style, presentation, and editing are seldom surpassed in so much of the content I watch on here. Don't worry about pushing out videos. Yes, we're all dying to see more, but we as fans enjoy your quality over quantity. I still watch your old videos nearly monthly. Keep it up.
Theworldofstuff If you're on a budget and can't replace the motherboard and processor, I'd just go with a higher end used FX chip. Make sure your power supply can handle it first.
Awesome video! Haswell is really the best choice today if you're on a budget. It looks like the CPU was getting really hot there, a fresh application of thermal paste might help bring those down.
1st off, if you need to upgrade away from a PSU with proprietary connections, go on eBay or Amazon and you see if you can get a custom 6 pin plus the P2 cable. It's listed for the HP Z220/Z230 but looks like it should work just fine. Or for Dell, it should be Just 24 to 8 pin. I just got a HELL of a deal on a 4790 (locked) based Micro-ATX Dell 9020 for $280 after shipping. I am using a custom 24 to Dell 8 pin adapter to put an SFX with ATX adapter in it. 2ndly I heard that you should be able to put a 4790K into most Haswell systems including the HP 600 G1 or in my situation, the Dell 9020 and use the Intel XTU to unlock the CUP and overclock it. That being said, that is cost prohibitive. I'm GLAD that someone thinks the way I do when it comes to used hardware. Great PC. I see that specific model all the time in the business environment.
It's great to see you back GHG! I'll be once again torturing myself by sitting through the entire duration of the ads to help support new content being created. The Nvidia ad I just had to endure was over 7 minutes long! 😂
Hi All - Nice find , 12 months ago the typical I5 2400 was going for close to $250 used in Australia, the flood of ex lease machines from HP and Dell has seen that drop to $100-$120 and easy to find on ebay, sometime its best to search for computer shops that have several as you go go in and see them running and confirm memory and hdd specs At least the I5 4590 is almost x2 the power of the I5 2400 I have a HP 8200 SFF, the chassis looks almost the same as yours, power supply is ok with x2 HDD and a GT1030. For long term i may buy a spare power supply as you can find them for @ $25 used as they are specific, and yes most big brand items have their "OEM" power connectors , - at least you can buy a cable adapter, but you really need a tower version of the PC as you cant fit the standard PSU in the SFF cases. On that , has anyone ditched the SFF power supply and run a external laptop brick style power supply. I have seen a few Frankenstein units with external stock style 450-600 watt ATX power supplies and adapter ribbon connector - but the drawback is ugly , noisy and you still cant run full height cards. BTW was that redfern station, all those inner city ones look the same to me Regards George
I bought a lenovo m93p sff with the same Haswell i5 CPU, switched out HDD for SSD and this thing runs fast, cool and quite! Amazing value for $250 AUD...
I still use this as a daily processor for my custom built gaming pc. This 4590 paired with my 960 4gb has worked great, I bought this 4590 new in store, and have no plans of upgrading it, it is overall a great cpu.
I think it deserves a mention. Your video creation style is very unique. Love the clips of the trains and stuff mixing it up a bit as tech can come across as a bit bland at times. I miss seeing new content from you, but hey, you have a life. I especially like the video where you did your presentation. It was quite funny when you were walking down the corridor all proud and shit cos you did well. Great stuff. You want some eggs with that green ham? All the best....
My Dellasaurus retail conversion PC is specifically limited to whatever the best no-extra-power GPU is at the time. I consider it part of the charm. :-) Good stuff. :-)
Come back man, we love you ♥️
Where is he?
died
Pls come back
He needs to come back, his videos are so unique
Can't come back from the dead.
Haswell is very viable today, especially with the cheap price of DDR3 making it very viable, sure it's not as good value as 1155, but its easy to find both new and used. Great Video Man!
Especially loving those orchestral greenmarks.
Budget-Builds Official ddr3 cheap? The price doubled for 8gb ddr3 sodimm
Abhi Mayadam: A 1x 8GB Stick of DDR3 1800Mhz is around £30ish. DDR4 will cost you more than double, personally £30 for 8GB is reasonable.
Budget-Builds Official looked up 8 gb stick ddr3 sodimm on best buy's website ( electronics retailer) and I got this price. www.bestbuy.com/site/pny-8gb-1-6-ghz-pc3-12800-ddr3-sodimm-laptop-memory/4680400.p?skuId=4680400
It is 90 bucks. It used to be 40
Abhi Mayadam: Not too bad over here, personally I'd just buy 4x2GB Sticks for around £3/4 each.

Budget-Builds Official yo m8, when will you update on your channel? I miss your videos.
Oke guys see you again in 2019 😂
lolllllllll
lol
quality over quantity
Not really, his videos we're just as good when he was uploading more actively in 2015-2016.
LOL

@@smulGIANT unfortunately you're right. But some people have a life outside of TH-cam and have a job or family. And are super busy.
As usual you don't fail to disappoint with editing!
Don't disappoint*
If only somehow this comment made me good at CS:GO. I found the SD by the way. You’ll figure out who I am, even if it takes awhile.
My favorite channel on the entirety of youtube. There is just a certain atmosphere to these videos that I cannot find anywhere else, I'm constantly looking forward to the next video. Cheers from the other side of the world!

That is by far one of the best used deals on the market today. Its the best way to introduce an unsure gamer into the PCMR! Also the quality and camera work in your videos has increased dramatically! Keep up the great work!

I5 4590 is a beast, thanks budd for sharing your experience with this great processor.
i hate my 4590
Allen Wilson I love my Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83Ghz @ 4.2Ghz (463 cb)

No, my SUPPREME i5 4690 is better by a bit :)
You know you're in for a treat when Green Ham releases a new video. My favorite Australian TH-camr
i remember during my high school years the computer lab had these pc's. Seeing how this PC performs, I'm honestly impressed at how every high school manages to make those computers extremely slow
it's an art seriously to make a computer slow
Glad to see a new video. This channel has always had some of the best production value of any technology Channel. You can see the soul and effort put into every video and you are kept intrigued until the end.
Why did U stop making Vids?
Goodness dood, watching your videos is like a guilty pleasure of mine. You haven't posted in awhile right? This is the perfect way to end the night. Plus your b roll on the intro was perfect.
5:10 "The i5 had barely begun to break sweat"
*meanwhile 60 to 90% usage in most of the benchmarks*
I could say that about one of my GPUs (while at 100% use), but that's because I like sub-zero overclocking. Its hard to sweat when your max load temp is cold enough to condense air moisture into ice on the back of the card.
Jake Garrett What does your videocard and oveclocking have anything to do with the i5 4590 in the video?
It can't break a sweat when it's cold. Just a lame attempt at play on words, I'll see myself out...
I have an i5-4460 paired with a GTX 1060 6gb and I get 99% GPU usage in alot of games I play.
Chase Whittemore That is relevant because?
Man, often time his videos do not apply to me, I just watch because he is a great film maker. Good with music, visuals, and it's always entertaining! Keep it up. I don't mind a wait for a few minutes of absolute bliss.
The videos this man puts out are TOO GOOD
Always good to see a new green ham vid! Some of the best on TH-cam
150k subs. Let’s go for 200k. After all, we can only move forward. Nice job Green Ham!
I was just checkin this channel out yesterday looking for a new vid haha...This makes me happy
Look for a tiny low profile GTX 1050 ti and replace the PSU, then boom 💣💥💣💥💣💥 great mid range PC for its price.
In this case with problems with the motherboard, they can use only external GPU with the external power supply to help GPU work. :/ Anyway 1030 is still great chose but, we can see they don't give medium settings in more demanding games.
Michał 1050ti doesn't require external power, it's all through the Pcie slot
there is is change where PCI-e don't deliver more than 30W of power for gpu. and gtx 1050 ti is pushing PSU too much also
Mr.Haaska but I've seen external PCIe slot that allow to feed the gpu nicely but with a better PSU.
The pc runs at MAX at only 100watts the 1050 ti is 75 watts more than enough power
I’ve had this idea except a Radeon GPU another great idea and video. Your videos always has that extra relaxing and pleasant experience. Another great episode!!!
Who needs to build a new when you can steal one from your school and build this..
Haha yeah teachers wouldn't like that you would probably go to principles office.
Bad Timing I like that idea.
My school has computers next to the auditorium that have i3 7th gen
Your "Incredible i5 Dell" video convinced me to buy a Sandy Bridge system and I didn't regret it one bit. Nice to see GBP!!
Great British Pound. And it was :)
Arthur GBP? They are Australian, aren't they?
Michal Zajac What?? GB=Great Britain P=Pounds (our currency). Not sure if your joking or not! Ahaha
Arthur i meant the Green ham, they are from Australia,so i was curious they used GBP
Michal Zajac Oh yeah ahahah, it was just added so that Brits could easily understand the value of the components used.
This old HP has much more power to be utilized. Although those odd connectors really hold it back. Great job working with what you had and the production quality has improved tremendously.

Nice seeing you upload lovely great videos again missed your videos and hearing you!
Don't make us wait this long mate!!!!!🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Absolutely fantastic cinematography on this episode.
Cool to see the i5-4590 appear in your videos as well, the computers at my school use that exact chip.
Just a Tip. Turn in Vegas resampling off for the Gameplay.
my god these videos are so well edited, good job

My college still got plenty of these tho some are phasing out and being replaced with kaby lakes
Ask your IT Dept when they're being phased out, ask if you could take or buy one.
Waste of money to be replacing Haswell with Kaby Lake IMO. They really should be going with Coffee Lake.
Agreed, Kaby Lake is barely a jump from Haswell, or even Sandy Bridge for that matter.
Until 2017, my school had some Core2's optiplexes with some strange gpu, now they are changing to Skylake/Kabylake machines, a huge jump in performance, but I wish they had those Haswell in mine
Dylan 'Sonmambulist' Harwood hmm great idea, but I don't have any close relationship with the IT dept yet....:(
Love you videos. Your videos give me back the classic vibes of the 90s. The video itself and the content are always much more unique than other TH-camrs.

It's still a good upgrade though. I went from a Phenom II X4 940 BE to an i5 4460. Enjoy your new upgrade!
I've been waiting for this for so damn long. Thx for making my evening better :3
I'm still rocking an E3-1231v3 haswell.
I had a long day today, so thank you GHGtv for always making great content to make my day better. I hope you're doing great man.
Where have you been!? Please upload
It's great to see you making videos, GHG.
Ahhh the tomato convinence store
Anthony Pompa a good ahhh like a relaxed one
I just didn’t feel it this time. The edited version was okay, but the original is still best. I would have even been okay with Bob’s Pizza
Being on a very tight and limiting budget this is my pc,
I7 2600k
Gtx 550 Ti
8gb Ddr3
240gb ssd (I got it as a gift)
500gb hdd
1400x900 monitor
I’ve never had a problem running these titles at lower resolutions (1366x768) at medium to low settings.
Ian Simpson that cpu is overkill for that gpu, you have upgrade path for even a 1060 6gb pr a 580!
everything except the 550 is solid honestly
Hold onto that i7, that is still a beast of a CPU, dare I say it, high end. In the future you definitely have a GPU upgrade path. An overclocked 2600k won't even bottleneck a GTX 1080.
Those are really outdated specs lol but they are ok
Missed your vids, glad to see new content.
We got these to replace the Xp machines at my High School and I must say steam runs pretty darn well. It could be because we're using the lab models but I am not sure. Don't remember specifics. Ours did have SSDs I know that and they had a lot more local storage on the network drive compared to some of the 7 machines.
Argh the amount of happiness I got my seeing a new video from this channel
please come back
I've been using one of these for the last year and a half as my HTPC. Gifting it to a friend for Christmas and building a bit of an upgrade for myself.
Where are you? :(
You make a good point on budget PC pricing if you're aiming for a higher end experience. I've got a Dell Precision T3500 that cost me about 450.
$240 on GTX 1060 6 GB
$210 for base system and another 1TB HDD.
All in all it's running 12 GB RAM, i7 980x, 3x 1TB HDD, GTX 1060 6GB
I've had PCs that barely run games at 720p on lowest settings and you can find those for dirt cheap, but if you find them deals you can run a high-end budget system under 500.
When's the next video? I could use some quality entertainment rn
YOU HAVE VERY GREAT QUALITY CONTENT.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
6:15 Why would you take a PC to the beach... XD
Rolo473 you're new here aren't you...
I5 4590 and a 1050 ti must consume less than 150 watts you should go for a bigger gpu !!
I really like the style of your videos man keep up the good work!

It's all sad and gloom, till I get to watch a new video from my favorite TH-camr. Keep it up man!
why do you upload at like midnight
it's not midnight everywhere in the world LOL
it is in aus, which is where ghg isfrom
Jack Tanton in my contry it is 14:45
If have enough views/subscribers you get access to scheduled publish which allows you to keep a video unlisted until a planned date/time where it will appear as if it was uploaded at that time. That allows videos to be instantly live without YT having to process and viewers having to watch at 480p etc.
At least that's what my best guess is.
in central Europe is 15:00
Ahh , i remember when i first built my very first computer based on hasswell, g3258 and a gtx750 , ahhh great times , i even sent you a photo and got into one of your videos !
Hey I have those computers at my school, well they just have the case they have been upgraded to a 6th gen i5.
same
When they next upgrade their pcs, find out where they are throwing away/ storing the old ones since you may be able to get one for free.
Caboose i have tried, the school board member who takes care of all of that (who happens to be my grandmother's friend) said she would get me one, but she never has gotten me anything, its been nearly a year and I have reminded her a few times.
lucky, we have p4s in our school
Keep it up.
Come back ;-;
Beautiful video as always! Just did kinda the same thing myself right before checking youtube on this new machine. I love you man!
I would love a haswell i5 to replace my fx4300
Theworldofstuff
If you're on a budget and can't replace the motherboard and processor, I'd just go with a higher end used FX chip. Make sure your power supply can handle it first.
Lazy nonono fx’s are shit. I used a 6300 for a year and it was a nightmare.
omar aman
If he's on a tighter budget and can't afford a full upgrade, he'll be fine. But I would recommend upgrading from an FX chip.
Maybe go for a used Phenom II X6, better IPC than the FX series, easily overclockable, works on all FX AM3+ motherboards.
NJ Sullyalex Yeah I forgot about the Phenom. Probably a better idea.
Finally a new upload! Looking foward to this video!
Bout time u uploaded
Haswell is still a beast. I very recently bought an i7 4790. It isn't going obsolete any time soon, that's for damn sure.
Make new video please
i wish you up loaded more.... love the videos!
I absolutely love this video, I especially like the overall presentation, themeing and soundtrack! Keep it up Greenhamgaming :) Cheers Peter Mc
These videos are always inspiring to me to work with older pc's and get them running some great games. Keep up the great videos dude! :)
Awesome video! Haswell is really the best choice today if you're on a budget.
It looks like the CPU was getting really hot there, a fresh application of thermal paste might help bring those down.
Missed you mate, good to see you back. Keep up the great PC videos!
Saw you had a new vid out, pressed it instantly! Still rocking my 4770K over here!
Got the 800 with i7, 16GB, 1TBSSD,2TB HDD & OC GTX1050ti works like a charm;) even with default psu. Great vid!!
The_London Dude 😍 sweet 😍
Hi All - Nice find , 12 months ago the typical I5 2400 was going for close to $250 used in Australia, the flood of ex lease machines from HP and Dell has seen that drop to $100-$120 and easy to find on ebay, sometime its best to search for computer shops that have several as you go go in and see them running and confirm memory and hdd specs
At least the I5 4590 is almost x2 the power of the I5 2400
I have a HP 8200 SFF, the chassis looks almost the same as yours, power supply is ok with x2 HDD and a GT1030.
BTW was that redfern station, all those inner city ones look the same to me
Regards
George
There is a Tower version of this PC going on Ebay for about $150us, for the PSU you can go on Amazon and get a HP 24 pin adapter for about $15
Every time you release a new video it's a great day
Another amazing build from a wonderful TH-camr. Keep up the great work Tim.
This is hands down one of the best budget buils ive seen
I've been running an i5 4590 for 3 years now and I've had no problems. Highly recommend it.
Another excellent video TJ!
I bloody love these videos
I think it deserves a mention. Your video creation style is very unique. Love the clips of the trains and stuff mixing it up a bit as tech can come across as a bit bland at times. I miss seeing new content from you, but hey, you have a life. I especially like the video where you did your presentation. It was quite funny when you were walking down the corridor all proud and shit cos you did well. Great stuff. You want some eggs with that green ham? All the best....
Your videos are pieces of art
I actually have an i5-4570 from an HP sff pc like this. I paired it with a Palit GTX 1060 6gb and 16gb DDR3 1600 RAM. I can say it is a 1080p beast.
My Dellasaurus retail conversion PC is specifically limited to whatever the best no-extra-power GPU is at the time. I consider it part of the charm. :-) Good stuff. :-)
