I’m 43 years old, and the first time I ever completed the Simpsons arcade beat-em-up was on this very cabinet at Time Rift over Thanksgiving 2024. I played the first half by myself, and the second half with a kid that walked up and jumped in. I used all 4 characters at least once in my play-through, and everything felt great. You guys absolutely crushed this restoration! The experience of beating a game with the help of someone I’ve never met and high-fiving them at the end truly took me back to my own childhood. I’ll never forget it, and I’ll be going back over Christmas when I travel back to DFW to see family. Thank you, and happy holidays!
@@saysheate197 that’s a great story! Thank you for sharing. When I was younger I worked at the Chuck E Cheese in Arlington as a game room “guy” (we cleaned games, fixed coin and ticket jams) I would occasionally see an open spot on the Simpsons and I would join in to help kids beat it. I had a pocket full of test tokens to help. :) When you back in town swing by the Starship if you get a chance. Your day pass is good for both locations.
@ I actually got to dress up as him a few times when no one else was available to do so. I was a last resort as I am 6’3” and a rat at that height put the fear of God in some kids. Haha
This turned out fantastically! Pink T molding was absolutely the right choice, as was painting the hinge. The attention to detail really makes this restore. GGWP both of you
I never comment but I had to say I'm glad you listened to the young lady. The pink T-molding definitely works with all the other pink. That cabinet looks rad. I would have loved to walk in an arcade and see that in the '80s 👍
I can't begin to tell you how much I absolutely love these restoration videos. The work performed is always impeccable, and the insight gathered from being able to see the back-end of the operation is captivating beyond belief! I think that the pink T-molding and blue control board along with the donut speakers were excellent choices. I do feel like the side art could've used that gradient that makes it more green at the bottom and blue on top though. Homer is standing on grass in the art, which should be green. Everyone else stacked on top of him is higher up into the sky, hence the blue higher up. That nitpick aside, both of you did an exemplary job, I love the Mike Murray cameo, and thanks for the video!
Love to see a old broken down machine from my youth renewed to spectacular shape like this. Love the pink molding decision and for sure that black bar looks way better painted to match the blue colour. Excellent work!!!!!
You guys made all the right choices with this one. It looks so fun, clean and updated. The pink trim is perfect. Great detail on painting the CP hinge.
This is pretty cool. I love when people restore such awesome machines. I played a lot of Simpsons myself. I'm most jealous of that Killer Instinct cabinet. That was the arcade game I played and loved the most. I miss the old arcade days. Pure euphoria!

Cabinet came out really steller and thank you for such an in depth restoration. I always love these. Making TH-cam videos and running two arcades is no small feat so thanks again for such great content.
Growing up in the '90s, so many of my best memories were centered around arcades and pizza shop machines. Pretty awesome to see teenagers learning the inner workings of this old tech!
love the custom job! restoration is done well and it's respectful to the game's source content and y'all had fun doing it. I say it's a win! Pink T-molding is awesome!
Loved the content! The only suggestion I would add was around the control panel. When you plugged the hole and grabbed some scrap…. That’s where I’d of just cut a whole new panel using your existing as a template. It would have been an easy trace and cut job with minimal sanding. Would have been way easier than all the bondo and sanding work, plus it would have solved your 3D printed button issue as well. I originally thought you were going for an as stock as possible restore…. But when you leaned into just making it look good, some times tossing out the old and making new is cheaper and faster. Plus….. bondo and sanding suck! 😂 and I agree… I love the pink and the decal choices. Making them look good and playable is all that truly matters. ❤
I didn't know what this channel was, but there is NO WAY i was going to see this thumbnail and scroll passed! 😱 As a little kid, i had a "suitcase" that looked like that and that whole color scheme and time period is tattooed in my brain lol 😋 I can't wait to watch more of these🙌
Probably my all-time favorite Arcade game. As a 7 year old kid It was always the one i ran to first way back in 92 because the Simpsons had such an impact on me culturally like so many of us lol. I remember being blown away at the fact it was so true to the tv show and just such an attention grabbing cabinet with those blues and sounds and not mention the most important part of it all IT WAS FUN AS HELL!. It would be a Dream to have an OG or even repop cabinet.
Doing a Bartop build myself right now. Using a cheap DIY kit (which I cannot recommend doing). So many steps, so many throwbacks. It's exhausting and I applaud you for your work.
Great work on the cabinet. Thanks for sharing the project. I wasn't 100% sure but it looked like the aspect ration was slightly off on the side art. It was a little squeezed. It seemed that way when comparing the original to the new art. Either way still looks amazing!
Clicked because of Brin in the thumbnail, to be honest...stayed because of the awesome work you did on this! Looks amazing and would be cool to relive my childhood playing on that cab!
Amazing job. Love the extra stuff you added with the artwork. It makes it better looing than the original. Loved how you made the hinge the same color. Great work.
The pink T-molding looks much better than I thought it would... although, maybe the pink going across the top of the marquee was a touch too much. I think that one strip would have looked better black. Fantastic job on the whole thing though!
That sound of Bart and Lisa screaming during the demo screen brings back memories... I remember the machine always going in the entrance to WalMart back in the 90's
This looks amazing!! I love everything you did to this cabinet!! My only gripe, and its minor, is you need to fix your vertical hold. You have half an inch of black on top. So you just need to adjust that to fix it. I love the pink t-molding makes it look sharp! Great job you two! I would love to own that cabinet. 👏👏👏👍👍
Many ways to get around the leaf switch problem. Drill a hole in the clamp that matches the holes in the switch and put a bolt through. Or 3d print a cap to keep it in place. :)
Just 10 years ago my neighborhood arcade parlor was liquidating all of his cabinets for crumbs (Dinosaurs & Cadillacs, SFII, MK...) all of them in great condition. Too bad I didn't care that much to snatch that deal. Nice to see someone transmitting the virus to the next generation.
I love the donut edition! And I do appreciate the details. Just use a heat gut and narrow each clip on the wicos. Not that you should have to but it works - just be careful. I did it on my turtles in time. It’s in my basement and not in a public arcade but it works. I’m just thankful there are Wico replacements. The old ones are crazy expensive. Best of luck ❤
im really glad you went the pink moulding. it really makes it stand out. I would have liked to see the gradient side decals beside the other restored unit just so you have one of each, but the end result is just insane! well done!

It's beautiful. I wonder if there's a company out there that takes these old arcades and makes the cabinet bigger and puts a bigger monitor in them like a 32-42 inch. That would be amazing.
Great job, loved the video and thanks for sharing. What I would have done different: 1. Clean up the wiring and inside before painting, makes it easier. 2. Add the blue art to the front and top where you left it black. Adds more pop, especially around the speakers. 3. Yellow t-molding across the top and CP only, pink on the sides, it looks great that way! 4. Did you ever say if you went with repro-Wico's, original, or modern cherry joys?
Try getting those black paper clips that clip together big stacks of paper to clamp down on those joystick leaf switches. They come in multiple sizes. Im sure there is one out there that would squeeze those leaf springs enough to make them stay in place.
Great job! Just a thought...could you use paper clamps to hold the leaf switches tighter? Those things would add a lot of pressure and be easier to adjust than a zip tie or something.
