Very enjoyable interview Was at L'Olympia last week with my son He was born in England to a French mother And when we moved to France he was called up Which consisted of 2 days! Merci beaucoup JJ From a lifelong Stranglers fan
His parents may do but he was born in Notting Hill. Thanks for your comment. Check out the rest of the channel if you haven't already. There are many others you may enjoy.
I'm a Stranglers Fan since Aural Sculpture came out in 1984. One of the better Punk/Nee Wave Bands of the Late Seventies and of course The Following Years til Now. Every Albums they've had released are very outstanding classics. And this Year The Band will celebrates their 50 Years .
Being a fan since peaches probably seenthem five or six times all over the country. Actually met them in torbay and they signed my albums. Meant so much to so many people growing up back in the days, Even saw them again after Hugh Cornwall left, and they were still brilliant. So much respect guys,
Thanks for the likes and comments on social media, guys. But, it would really help if you could also like the video on TH-cam and subscribe to the channel if you can, please? There are lots of other interviews up there and lots more to come. If we can fire up the algorithm it will hopefully enable more people to see the videos. Thanks.
Been a fan of this band since I picked up Black and White on release, and then went out immediately and bought Rattus. I've seen pretty much every iteration of the band, from the original 4 to the last time I saw them about 8 years ago when it was just 2 originals left (Jet was still involved, but his health precluded him from touring, and they really don't turn up too often in Canada). At first I thought when Hugh left, it would be the end, and they kind of soldiered on, but then Baz showed up and he has been great with them. Their last album which Dave played on from a year or so back was killer. If they come back to my side of the pond, will definitely be attending.
Well said, I was a fan since when I first heard Peaches on the radio, then the Something Better Change/Straighten Out single solidified it. I also got B&W as soon as it came out, with the free white single of Walk on By in it. I sort-of lost interest in the band after the Raven, but once Baz joined they became killer again. And now, even with JJ being the lone OG member, they're still great.
I first seen the stranglers I believe it was 1980 at the Birmingham odeon And they were just awesome. I last seen them at the 02 in Birmingham in 2022 and many many times in between and they were still awesome. I have had the privilege of meeting all the stranglers and they were total gentlemen ( sorry to spoil your image lads 😂 ) even hugh was very respectful. They are without doubt the best live band I've ever seen , and I hope they gone on for many more yet.
The original idea of punk felt like permission for anyone who had an idea and some attitude to have a go and get a chance. So very diverse things happened. Then the rule-makers put it in a box and made it into just another genre.
JJ still rocking at 71 years old. Legend.
Right?
