The only advantage to bagless is as soon as you start to vacuum you get instant gratification whereas you don't see what's actually happening in the bag
My mother has an Omega in her closet since she bought a Dyson. Her carpet used to last for decades and now since switching to Dyson she cannot get 8 years from a carpet before it is trashed.
We went through 2 Dysons. It shredded up our carpet also, we were always pulling bits of carpet threads off of everything. Such a difference now that I got a used Kirby after the last Dyson went to the curb.

I was not surprised at all when the Kirby won. The Dyson has so many disadvantages with their design. Dust and hair can get lodged in so many crevices and it builds up over time without you noticing. I am currently helping a family member who has a Dyson DC50 that won't suck anything up anymore. Turns out it has clogs everywhere. I had to take the whole things apart just to get it cleaned out properly. Kirby is the way to go. They have a tried and true design that's simple. They're easy to work on and there aren't a bunch of hidden places for dirt to build up unnoticed. Go Kirby!

Love these sand tests! Kirby never disappoints in these. The Classic III you used for precleaning looks fabulous; enjoyed watching the refurb on it. As an owner of that model it is remarkable how it grabs the carpet; as you said too, incredible CFM. My Classic III owner's manual really stresses this model's 'triple cushion vibration'. Do you know Dean if this feature is carried over to models after the Classic III? ( don't have manuals for my G3 and G4---both purchased 'used'). Great video. Thks.
Today I just bout a brand new Avalir 2 still in the original packaging from an ex Kirby salesman with all the attachments for $500!!!! Used it once today and I feel like I got a smoking deal. Unwrapped everything and assembled it in a few mins.

Had a Kirby salesperson come my door and was told we won a free carpet cleaning, my wife let the person in and he wouldn’t leave. I got home and told him I wasn’t buying anything and he needed to leave. I was not going to pay $2700 for a Kirby, he saw our Dyson and said it would only last 2 years as he left. I paid $169 for my Dyson and 12 years later it still runs great. Kirbys are on my personal life long do not buy list due to the sales tactics
That’s your personal choice , my dad had so many Dysons and new carpets lost count . I’ve had my Kirby G4 since 1994 and never had to replace worn out carpets or suffered from dust allergies . Seams like an easier way to weigh would be to be more similar to the bag of the kirby and get the difference in weight between the empty bin for Dyson vs full of sand bin...
Problem is the dyson has a filter internally also should weigh the entire vacuum next time. The Kirby doesn't have filtration and when you replace the bag can actually let dust out.

These older machines were built to last and clean . Today we live in a disposable society we’re everything is made to last 2 - 4 yrs then be dumped in a landfill so you buy another .
The reason why kirby will always win is because the motor propeller is 4-5 inches from the carpet vs a canister design that sucks through a long hose. I did a sand test with a £1100 Electrolux euro clean and then put a Kirby across it after the Kirby removed ten times the amount of sand which the euro clean didn’t remove out of all the vaccums I have used Kirby gives me satisfaction know my carpets are getting the best deep clean and attention they need Dyson are good but create a dust cloud when emptied and need a filter maintenance kirbys don’t use a filter only a bag which is the only filter this is better as all the dust is trapped and not realised bk into the air I know their loud but results say a lot for the machines carpet cleaning performance 100 percent
