    You're doing great so far Mimi.. Not only you're beautiful but you can be a great talk show host, too. I can imagine your face like one of those African-American reporters on ABC or Good Morning America, etc. It's great that you're giving the foreign students to voice out or share their experiences here, talk about their own country, etc. I enjoy watching you, along with your friend Dorcas and other African descent vloggers here in the Phils. coz most of the time it's caucasian vloggers here, etc. Japanese, and Korean vloggers are second to them in number when it comes to foreign vloggers. So I'm happy to see Nigerian vloggers, and we get to know diff cultures through channels like yours. Keep up the great work, Mimi! More power to your channel!

      This is really a heartfelt and warm message. I love reading feedbacks like this.
      Before I started med school, I searched for channels that shared about experiences from real students but I really didn’t see much and I thought it would be nice to incorporate that as well in my channel to give people genuine experiences of foreign medical students here in the Philippines. I’m glad my channel has been informative. Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. God bless❤️

    My opinion: Ultimately, it is the individual that determines whether or not he/she learns, not the school, not the country. My Burmese uncle came to the Philippines and attended a "so-so" community college to study engineering. The school wasn't known for successfully passing engineering graduates. Hardly anybody passed the board. However, he was determined to become an engineer so he did what he needed to do. So, when he took the national board exam, guess what? He made it as a third placer nationwide. Who would have thought? Now, he is a successful engineer and now calls Taiwan his home.

    • @adiimimi
      @adiimimi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I totally agree. However, the school also do play a part. It’s also the individuals responsibility to learn as well. You are right. Thanks for watching

    • @hillroberts1311
      @hillroberts1311 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      So so college, then he wouldn't have been accepted. I know to take up engineering one needs to pass through rigorous tests. Good he is now an engineer and he should be grateful for having studied in the Philippines.

    • @nanbolz2238
      @nanbolz2238 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@hillroberts1311 @Hill Roberts Im sure he is grateful. Im sure had my grandmother had the means to send him to a good school, he probably would have made it as well. He struck me as being very intelligent. Back then, my ten-year old mind was very impressed with what sounded to me as British English. Idk. I could be wrong. But he was born and raised in what used to be called Burma, now Myanmar, until my grandmother's brother brought him and his brother to join their family in the Philippines. But, yeah, for me, he exemplifies what a determined and persevering person can do, regardless of whatever limitations one is confronted with. ULTIMATELY, it is all up to us to be what we want to be and make do with what we have, regardless of our circumstance.

      Ultimately yes but do not downplay the role of the educational institution because while the brain resides in the human, that brain will need access to resources that have been built and tested over time. It could not just be the brain and determination alone. Also what you said is pretty obvious and seriously does not necessarily need to be stated.

      I dont know what so so scholl in cebu you are referring to because as far as i know engineering schools in cebu are good or excellent. They produce not only passers but also topnotchers. My father graduated chemical engineering from mapua institute of technology in in 1952. He passed the board exam and landed a job at del.monte philippines. His brothers, my brothers, and my cousins went to cebu for their engineering courses, particularly the cebu institute of technology. The reason was that the schools in cebu had levelled up and became competetive so that students coming from.mindanao and the visayas no longer went to manila for engineering courses from 1950 up to 1980, when cagayan de oro in turned had excellent engineering schools. The same with medical schools. My aunt graduated from ust in manila in the 60s. But my cousins graduTed at southwestern university and cim in the 70s and 80s. Now in our place In cagayan de oro there.are good medical schools that the exodus of medical students to cebu had stopped. They prefer to study in cdo for comfort being in their or near their hometown and off course for financial reason, a lot cheaper. Cebu did not become a student mecca for engineering and medical students for nothing. During opening of classes you could see boatloads of students for the 12 hours voyage to cebu almost daily, a testament to the high standards of these schools.

    It was mentioned that in India medical MBBS colleges, there's Forensic Science which is not present in Philippine medical college. Actually it goes by a different name called Legal Medicine.
    Preparatory Medicine in the Philippines is 4 years followed by 4 years medical proper and 1 year of rotating internship. These requirements apply to local Filipinos who want to be M.D.s

    I think we also have that difficulty when it comes to getting admissions to best medical schools in the country. For instance, in University of the Philippines they only accept certain number of students and also you need to have high NMAT score, and good credentials. Also there is interview part that may affect your admission. Same goes to UST, PLM, UERM, etc. I think most medical schools in manila are like that and some schools in Cebu and in Pampanga like AUF in Angeles City. It's hard to get in medical schools in big universities.

    For the medicine program in the Philippines. The entry level you need a High School diploma. Then take a 4 years pre med which is a bachelors degree then pass the NMAT. That’s a requirement n prerequisite to enroll to the medicine proper(MD) Some school in the Philippines cater Indians student n they open the MBBS program. There is 1 year internship program before you graduate.

    There are too many applicants seeking admission into the too few medical schools in India and Nigeria. As a consequence, Indians and Nigerians are propelled to seek out schools of medicine abroad. Now, this is a comparative advantage for those students because they obtain better instruction along with facilities and faculty expertises.

I got 1300 ranking for medicals and 1100 for engineering and could not secure a medical seat as all medical seats got over by 800 ranking. It’s like this. Even you will pass still there will be cutoff for admission in medicine school. Since 150 per each school only allowed so definitely there will be cutoff. Everyyear cutoff is different. Like percentile rank will be made. For example if one state has 4 university so 150X4 so 600 students can enroll. Means top 600 of that state will get enrolled there rest other students have to find another way.

But just like other countries, Indian authorities have to accredit or approve certain schools in the Philippines where Indian students can only enrol. For example in Cebu, Iranian authority only accredit SWU, MHAM, and Cebu Doctors' University for their citizens to study Medicine but only accredit SWU for Dentistry students. The Medical Council of India have accredited 5 schools in Cebu for Indian students to study medicine: UV's Gullas College of Medicine, SWU's School of Medicine, Matthias H. @@adiimimi It's the same with the Philippine state-owned University of the Philippines. UP is the most prestigious and highest-ranked university in the Philippines and has 8 constituent universities across the country, one of which is UP Cebu (located in Lahug, Cebu City). UP School of Medicine is located within UP Manila campus and has its own quota system as to the number of freshmen (normally between 50-80 per year) they accept every year based on the student's score) in UPCAT, the admission test for graduating high school students who wish to enroll in UP. That means, UP could only admit no more than 80 medical students every year out from the hundreds of thousands of applicants. State-owned universities and colleges in the Philippines are free starting 2019. Prior to 2019, UP System has a socialized tuition fee program wherein students, regardless of economic status, can be admitted as long as they pass the UPCAT and pay (or not to pay) according to their family's annual income. So the richer you are, the higher you pay. The poorer you are, the higher subsidy you get every month. Students who are recipient of monthly subsidies get varying amount based on the economic brackets of their family. Some don't get subsidy at all but free everything. Some get as much as P3,000 every month in the form of living, transportation and book allowance. That's how UP System worked prior to 2019. In 2019 the President approved the bill allowing all state-owned universities and colleges in the Philippines free for all Filipinos, regardless of social, economic and academic status.

Even in the regional state uni. They have limits as to the number of accepted students. Usually, you have to be in the top percentile of NMAT (National Medical Admission Test), passed a rigorous interview, and most of the accepted applicants are with latin honors. However, there were so many private universities in the Philippines offering medicine. But the top tier universities, they are hard to get into as well but there are those who catered more to foreign students than Filipinos.

      With outmost respect Indian medical education is one of the best now we have cutting edge technology in medical science ,our post graduate courses are top notch like MD ,Mch and DM ( Specialities courses in Cardiology , Neurology , Nephrology , Oncology ,etc ,etc ) ,the reason being is every year about 9 hundred thousand appear for medical entrace test ( NEET ) and only 15000 are selected ( both private and Govt medical colleges including BDS , Homeopathy ,etc ) so literally only about 100000 in allopathic medical science and then for post graduate one have to again clear PGNEET ,which is very ,very tough .With out most respect their can be no comparison between India and Phillipines .One can get the proof of what I commented from the thriving medical tourism in India ,where people from the developed countries vist India for inexpensive and expertise medical care of their complex medical ailments ....but we have long way to go for more development of medical research. Lastly, mostly those who do not have the capability to clear Indian Medical entrance test but aspire to become a doctor and has lots of money to study overseas opt for foreign medical education .
