  • There are 195 countries in this beautiful world. A couple of them have been known online for years as some of the worst places to go as a tourist. But only one has such an infamous reputation that many have vowed to never return. We decided to backpack it. Welcome to Egypt and our true, unfiltered thoughts and experience.

Thank you for sharing your honest experience of Egypt!! I feel like the key is knowing what you are getting into and being prepared for it so your tips are super useful. We are currently planning a world trip and I am tired of people telling me to skip Egypt LOL

Egypt is definitely on my bucket list. I want to see the Great Pyramids, and anything else would be a bonus. There's such rich history! Tips about harassment and the tipping culture are helpful. I can understand why people are hesitant after hearing stories, but I do think some of that depends on the person and their travel experience, etc. We have some friends and colleagues in a couple of cities. I would be interested in getting away from the touristy areas and seeing other parts of Egypt, too.

You should definitely hit it if you have the interest! I (Bree) was the driving force behind going to Egypt and I don't regret it at all but would probably not go out of my way to go back just because i've seen everything I wanted to see there.

Do you happen to remember the date this was? Asking for a weather gauge?
