Nope. I am, one among millions, ironically dealing with the reverse: struggling with dating in chastity. My struggle is how to get dates and be effective in dating while living the chaste sober life?
Question: I’ve been following the path of chastity for a while now and a dilemma has arised for me; lately whenever I meet someone who I’m attracted to (and viceversa) I feel that is wrong to pursue a relationship, because I know that if I do I would be exposing myself to this problems (sins) precisely. So I don’t know if I should wait on God to make me ready for marriage and to send me the right woman, and remain single until then. Or if It’s naive to think that God is going to solve that without me taking the iniciative and the risk of entering relationships that may not end in marriage. Thank you.
Pray and pray that the Lord will direct your steps and prepare your heart for marriage, and pray for discernment, pray that you will find a girl who the Lord approves to be in a relationship with you, and when you date a girl, go take her to a restaurant, to a park, go to mass together, go for a walk, go ride bike together, do things in public so you won't fall into sins against chastity! Never be alone with her!!!
28 yr old sexually chaste female here from SG. Its still a slow and painful journey I wouldnt wish on any new life coming out into this world. I dont know if I will ever finally find that one barbary lion warrior of my dreams I have all planned out in my head.
I respectfully disagree with you. Lust is defined in the catechism as inordinate sexual desire. What does 'inordinate' mean? It means out of order, out of its proper place. The desire for sex outside marriage is by definition inordinate because sex outside marriage is a violation of the covenant with God. The desire for sex simpliciter is natural. Just like the desire for wisdom is natural. But Eve's desire for wisdom outside of what God wanted to give her was inordinate and evil (and instigated by evil). The desire between an unmarried Christian couple for sex with each other is evil and instigated by evil in the exact same way. It is the desire for sexual intimacy generally, not in the specific circumstances that make it evil, that is natural and good. Same goes for desire to eat vs. desire to eat sugary foods when one is a diabetic - the circumstances make the desire evil. The danger of what you are saying is calling lust 'good', even 'holy'. No.
