I got my standing back tuck in June, and I even got my cartwheel tuck and my back handspring back tuck. But a few weeks ago, I tried my round off backhand spring back tuck for the first time. I undercut my spring, and flung myself backward in my “tuck”, and landed face first on the ground. I screamed and thought I couldn’t breathe, and I had a huge rug burn on my face for a while. Luckily, nothing too bad happened. Since then, I’ve been scared to do my back tuck. I’ve done it almost every day at home, but I am just so scared to do it at practice, let alone any connected tuck skills. I really hope I get my tuck good again for the competitive season.

i have had my round off tuck and round off back handspring tuck for years. i threw it so many times perfectly last season but because of quarantine i just stopped tumbling and now we are back in season so i’m scared to throw it. i have thrown my round off tuck and my round off back handspring tuck once since then with a spot or someone standing there. i have to throw it today at practice without that and i’m scared so i’m gonna try and use your tips and i’ll edit this later and let you know how it goes but watching this already has me feeling 10x better.
I FORGOT TO UPDATE THIS BUT I DID IT!!! this video helped sooo much!

Woohoo! That's amazing Jessica, I'm super proud of you. Good example of what happens when you APPLY advice. Remember tumbling isn't natural so it's not like "riding a bike" analogy where you can hop back on and figure it out years later. Tumbling needs consistent practice so if you have had a long break, give yourself a long recovery process of getting BACK into things. Don't be so hard on yourself. I'm sure you'll get back to your old self in NO time. Keep going!

I had my back handspring 4 years ago but i broke my arm and i was fearful of it, then two years ago i got over it and tried a back handspring again, i broke my arm once again, i have been on the same level for 5 years and i am very upset. I have been trying and I’m slowly getting back into the flow of it, but my confidence is always on and off and that’s what makes it all difficult.

Now being 13 i get frustrated knowing i went from being an advanced cheerleader to being below average for my age and experience. Yess! Way to go. Doing it is the first step! That's how you'll build competence and eventually that will turn into confidence. Just don't stop and keep improving using the FAST principles. Good luck!

I’ve been trying to get my ariel forever. But when I think of the memories I had for one I tried doing them at home, it’s painful because I can’t do them. I haven’t tried the skill for years. I am worried that the memories would come back when I am trying to get it and go into a negative state of that. I also haven’t been doing much tumbling over quarantine. I do tumbling but I am not a cheerleader or a gymnast. I learned how to do my back handspring step out myself too and learned how to do a back handspring during open gym in quarantine though!

I haven't done my standing back handspring or roundoff back handspring in over a year. I am so scared but I have been doing drills to prepare myself. Right now I am too scared to even throw it on a trampoline. I have looked up the mental block formula, and I am still so scared to do even throw it. People keep telling me to just throw it but I'm so scared. What should I do?

i broke my arm doing fulls 3 years ago and i quit cheer because of it. i came back a few months ago with a huge mental block and i have my back handspring but i can do a tuck without a spotter but someone has to stand there even if they aren’t close. i’ve been trying to get over it cause if i want to cheer i have to have my 2 and up but for some reason i just can’t get over that mental block even though i never fell on that mat and i do them by myself. it’s confusing to my coaches and me, but i’m hoping i can get over it soon.

What if what makes you nervous and causes you to be scared of not doing the skill but being nervous when I am on a single panel floor that I might go sideways in my tumbling and get hurt? Bc that is the main struggle for me.
