    Was talking to a die hard Harley owner last night he asked what I rode, told him and showed the pics, he said...”that’s my next bike, Harley is going south of predictable and reliable and their service sucks...Indian just seems to have the MORE of the classic look” tis a piece of art dazzle.

    I've ridden the Indian Chief Classic, which is essentially the same bike as the Chief Vintage & Springfield. (not the 2022). I was really surprised as to how well balanced this bike is for a beast of 835 lbs. A road touring bike is just what it is, one that side winds won't blow you off the pike like a putt putt bike will do. I have my eyes on a 2021 Vintage & I've looked into the '21 Springfield as well. There are also about 3 or 4 late model Chiefs here and about that are a tempting deal, tax savings as well as that sticker shock issue. Don't have to twist my arm to convince me about what a great bike it is, not just looks which is nice, but mechanically too. You mentioned the PAINT issue, which I was aware of by looking at my friend's white 2017 Classic & other's comments on the same matter. If kept under a roof, garage, etc, likely one can avoid a repaint for about 6 or 7 years. By then you'll want to spiff it up a bit anyway, right! Thanks for adding your forthright comments.

    Hey Dazzle, I have 4 windscreens for my current HD Electra Glide and one of them is a dark version of the curled top screen you were describing. Mine is medium height and I found that you still get buffering just in a different way but still uncomfortable. I ended up using the medium HD size screen for everyday riding and the taller screen for long tours and cold weather. Personally for the money I found the curled screen had no real advantage. Ride safe.

      There will be more videos about motorcycles on this channel. They will just be about classic bikes. These will probably not come until next year, also. I need time to record the content once events start happening post-lockdown. 👍🏼

    Love this video. Mostly because I'm about to buy the exact same bike here in Massachusetts. I know what you mean about the windshield. My current Honda Shadow has a very similar shield and its fine till you hit highway speeds. I have to alter my riding position to escape the overhead buffeting. Hard to do at 6'2", especially on long rides. I like your idea about the after market shield. Let me know what you think once you have some time with it. Thanks again, you've been very helpful in making my decision to buy this awesome bike!
    Ride safe and stay healthy,
    Sincerely ,

    I absolutely love the bike and was considering purchasing a 2020, but I have been reading reviews complaining of extreme heat making the riders very uncomfortable. How is your experience with that?

    • @RebelRides
      @RebelRides  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's an air cooled V-Twin so it's going to run hot when it's not moving. Yes the rear cylinder gets hot when you're sat in traffic. In winter that's great but on a 90° day, not so much. It's only really an issue when stopped but from 2019 onwards you have rear cylinder deactivation. It basically stops the rear cylinder when idling in neutral. Therefore a 2020 bike wouldn't get as hot as my 2014 bike does idling at a stop light.
      Besides that there are some aftermarket heat shields you can buy that deflect the heat. Personally I don't find it any more of an issue than the Harley's I've ridden. In fact I found the Kawasaki ZZR1100 had more of a heat issue than my Indian.

    What's the music after the title?

    • @RebelRides
      @RebelRides  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thanks for the comment. I'm not sure on the title but when I made this video I was getting most of my music from TH-cams own music library. The only stuff I didn't get from it was stuff I wrote myself and I definitely didn't write that. Just the title sting. So, in a rather long winded way I'm saying that it came from TH-cam but I couldn't say what it's called or who the artist is but it will be in the creator library somewhere if you want to look for it 👍🏼

    • @stuffandsuchyeah5182

      Yes, it will make noise when there is moisture present, like every other belt, but if you get it adjusted regularly, it’s really not bad. Still well worth having. 🇺🇸

    • @RebelRides
      @RebelRides  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I got a squeak for the first time on a cold morning run just before Christmas. It was quite a moist day in the air but it wasn't bad, more of a slight chirp. It went once it warmed up a bit.

    How does the Vintage differ from the Springfield? Is it just the hard bags?

    • @RebelRides
      @RebelRides  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The Springfield also has a shorter wheelbase (narrower rake), the same as the Chieftain and Roadmaster and tyre pressure sensors. You essentially have 4 Indian platforms at the moment; the FTR, the Scout, the Thunder Stroke cruisers (Chief, Vintage, Dark Horse) ans Thunder Stroke touring (Springfield, Chieftain, Roadmaster). 🖒

    The Vintage was the best looking of all Indians with all it's chrome and leather. I used to love looking at them on display when I was getting my 2017 Springfield serviced, and I bought OEM fringed leather bags and seat for my Springfield to imitate a Vintage (when I don't require my locking hard bags). Now-a-days, I find the Indians on display with the black painted chrome and the flat non-gloss paint quite ugly and I hate going into the Indian showrooms.
