    Hello I have a Remington model 12 from what I believe is 1923, serial is LX3363 and I got it for 25 euro, fully operational apart from 3 of the far left side keys, still has most paint with minor rust, currently being worked on, do you have any tips, is my first time fixing something,

    Any advice on how to unstick the caps key and the space bar.

    My 12 doesn't manage to ring the bell even though the bell trip is functional. The end margin doesn't seem to reach out far enough to trip it. Is this a typical issue on these machines?

      Sounds like something is still out of adjustment.

      @@dr.typewriter-venneburgtyp121 Messing with it some more, looks like the rails are not as tight as they could be. The carriage wobbles and trips the bell lever if pushed to the front.
      Rails look adjustable if I use a split flathead, might grind a driver for that.

      @@pcblah I'd have to see it in person to determine the issue unfortunately. Feel free to get in touch via Venneburg Typewriter's facebook page.

    How would you describe the feel and action of these? It looks like a 19th-century company playing catch-up.

      VERY pleasant. I must conclude that this '26 has one of the nicest type-sense that I have come across on a standard typewriter. For such an old machine it is very forgiving. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a durable machine.

    Nice video! Which one do you prefer, the Remington 12 or Royal 10?

    • @dr.typewriter-venneburgtyp121
      @dr.typewriter-venneburgtyp121  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In all honesty, the Royal 10 is much more my forte. The mechanism is easier to work on, and in generally I find the usability better.

      @@dr.typewriter-venneburgtyp121 Thanks for the feedback. I just purchased a 1926 Royal 10 - Single Glass. Great machine though I'm having a difficult time locating replacement parts.

      PLEASE respond as soon as you can from what i have read it seems more than tricky

      @@thepressamc You need the ordinary half-inch ribbon that most typewriters use.

      @@dr.typewriter-venneburgtyp121 I guess the reason i am asking is becausae they are set in place vertically, not flat like most. I do understand the respooling part but yeah if you could futher explain
