DR. TYPEWRITER - Venneburg Typewriters
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 20 ธ.ค. 2015
"Doctor Typewriter" is what they call me. I am 21 years old and an admirer, enthusiast and lover of old manual typewriters. From 19th century antiques, to space-age plastic paper-weights. With my buy & sell business, I come across a wide variety of people, who are getting (re)acquainted with this face from the past.
From teenagers, to young adults, the enthusiasm is inspiring and amazing. Unlike many other relics, obsolete tools and succeeded tools, the typewriter actually has managed to stay out of the face of obsoleteness. From becoming an office staple, it has turned into a creative artistic tool, sending messages out into the world, and inspiring people through it's amazing construction, and it's beautiful design.
If you don't believe me, you should visit Michael's. They just introduced their latest product, - a manual typewriter.

Update: 1899 Underwood No.1 Typewriter
A brief insight into the advancement of my project. This machine is cleaning up nicely. The older style Wagner mechanics are an interesting contrast to Underwood's conventional later models.

New Project: 1899 Underwood.No.1 Typewriter

I am incredibly proud to say that after 15 years of hunting, I have finally found an Underwood No.1 typewriter. The first commercially successful typewriter. Worthy of a proper restoration! I realize there are more than 4-5 machines out there as I stated in the video, but a rare bird none-the-less!!
A Fresh Start!

In this video I type on my 1920's Bing No.2 which is an unusual specimen. Mechanically it is not like anything I have seen before. A workhorse it is not but typing it does.

1940(?) Adler Model 17 Standard Typewriter

The Model 17 is a very uncommon example of early Adler machinery. This typewriter is fitted with two alphabets. A beautiful piece that has survived very nicely and true to itself. For more information visit: www.venneburgtypewriters.com

I'll probably do another upload regarding this topic of conversation at some point, but it is a question often left unanswered: What's better. Cotton or Nylon ribbon? My opinion is...

Greetings All! It's been a minute but we're back in the saddle. This time with a red Corona (1C) 'flat-top' typewriter that suffers from "Stinky Feet Syndrome" (A.K.A. White Rust). Winter is creeping in and my work-schedule has quieted down tremendously so back in the shop I'll be! Stay tuned. Be well! Take care! :)

Segment shifting in 1912 didn't expect that
Could you make a video on decal removal and application that would be very helpful I'm restoring my 1934 Royal KH also can't wait to see this when it's done
First! On my Triumph Gabriele 1, I took out the metal and rubber rest, and the screw would not go back in and I don't know why. Any idea?
Oooh the original Wagner escapement! That almost deserves a video in itself.
@@nnthayer Maybe I will do so!
Congratz on finally having Underwood No.1! 🍀
Congratulations 🎊 🤝🏻
So excited about this project and following videos 😁
Very excited to see the comparison of the mechanicals to a No. 5! It’s great how the No. 1 solidified the essentials of a modern typewriter-decades of blind-writers from Remington, and a variety of designs from other companies ranging from “ehh I guess this kinda works” (and I include the Oliver and Daugherty Visible in that) to outright failures... and then Mr. Wagner put this out and Underwood said “this is how it is, The Machine You Will Eventually Buy” and damn if they weren’t right. About the only thing I think a casual user today would really miss in a No. 1 is the backspace.
It is a fascinating piece of revolutionary technology and definitely to someonw like me who genuinely appreciates Underwood. Their mechanical ingenuity really surpassef their competitors.
Very cool. Look fwd to more. No dispute as to rarity, but when you say 4-5 out there, I assume you are referencing the TWDB? One sees this a lot and it’s introducing a misconception. There are many collectors who do not post any machines to the TWDB. So how many are out there is purely speculation. A 6.3 rarity number from ETC is a better guide.
Yes, I noted that as well. I should've worded that better because I am aware there are more out there even though only 12,000 were manufactured to start.
First! Great to see you back Dr. Typewriter! What are your thoughts on Olivetti typewriters?
Thank you! Olivetti (in my opinion) dropped the ball on their mechanical quality and design. Although aesthetically I can see the appeal, I have never really taken to the experience sadly.

Hi there! I have one of these in near-mint condition - same colour as yours in the clip. Like you, I'm impressed by the general build quality. It's just got one small issue - the ribbon colour selector works OK in the black and stencil position but jumps out of the red position unless it's held in place. There's an indent for each colour setting beneath the lever but the selector just jumps out of it. Obviously this is not ideal so I wondered if you have any ideas? Many thanks. Regards. Paul
Seems tiny. Is it comfortable?
The keys on this typewriter are not original to the machine. They look like they were replaced in the early 1950s. I know this because i have the exact same machine. The original keys were black bakelite, which doesnt always keep its shape. In fact, on my machine, some of the keys are visibly misshapen. The green keys are an improvement.
1915, it looks great! lucky you.
Nice
Great. Is the same for Studio 46?
Roughly, yes.
On the Studio 46, you need to remove two small screws on the right knob.@@dr.typewriter-venneburgtyp121
Nice job ❤🌹
I'm thinking about buying a typewriter, the models that I liked and can easily find here in Brazil are the OLIVETTE LETTERA 22 and 35. I need something quieter, could anyone recommend a model that is as quiet as possible? This LETTERA 22 in the video has a very pleasant noise.
Is that a plastic body?
Great Impressive Idol ❤❤❤ Nice To Learn ❤❤
Is that the same as the SM2?
Just about to buy a restored one. What do you use as a backing sheet, btw?
I love these keyboarding stories. I hope there are many of them as there is music on TH-cam!💙
I don't think i've ever seen a typewriter that typed in Cursive before.
What is your preferred touch setting? I find Olympia typewriters to abide by their own separate rules when it comes to touch select.
Hei, i bought the same exact one. Where can i order a new ehm „ink roll“ or whatever you call it?
There It Is! Thanks for the video as I found this very one sitting in an old warehouse inside a military Airport here in Italy back in the 80's . 👍👍
I have one after my grandfather. It worked but now it needs restoration.
Wt heck I was waiting to show us what you wrote

Brothee please amke a video of ur
very similar at Antares Compact, wondrfull!
Oooooh, I think I'd rather like to write on one of these! It sounds like it's rather 'thonky' than 'tinny'.
Will a universal ribbon work on this?
Beautiful! The Olivetti Lettera 82 is exactly the same as this one.
Kinda silly but good to see a typewriter TH-camr that actually knows how to type. I see everyone two finger hunt and peck and it annoys the crap outta me for no reason.
What about silk ribbon?
Congratulations!!
Thanks. Makes me further regret my L22 and reinforces my no Olivetti policy.
Ne ho appena comprata una per 35 euro, perfettamente funzionante, tastiera in ottimo stato, martelletti integri 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Elle ressemble beaucoup au japy de la même époque.
Cracking your knuckles is louder than the typewriter! 😂
Is it possible to use one of those on a daily basis?
Don’t repaint it.
