After the disaster known as Batman and robin, we were all convinced that Batman was dead. Then 2005 hit and we had Batman begins directed by the director of at the time Following, Memento, and Insomnia. Now we were kind of puzzled to see how this movie would turn out and oh my god! This movie was an undeniable masterpiece.

The Batmobile (Tumbler) is in fact an actual vehicle specially built for the movie. There were seven built for the film's production. In Chicago when they were filming they would have several of them parked on Lower Wacker Drive for some of the daytime scenes. Most of the action took place at night when it came to the Batmobile. so you would hear lots of loud explosions and vehicle crashes happening into the wee hours of the morning.

    • @maingun07
      @maingun07 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

If I recall correctly, the Tumbler, both in the fictional world of the movies as well as the real life vehicles constructed, are powered by a small block Chevy 350. That's the same engine that I have in my truck. I think they altered the sound of the engine because those of us that live around them would instantly recognize the rumble and they didn't want it sounding like a '74 3/4 ton pickup.

This Batman universe that Christopher Nolan presents us in his trilogy is simply amazing. His vision along with very tight scripts to the movies in this trilogy is what makes it so great. The casting is also just the cream on top, each actor just feels they belong as the character they're portraying. Finally the scenes near the beginning where Bruce is climbing to the temple and the fight on the ice was shot near Vatnajökull glacier.

Christopher Nolan is famous for doing as much for real as possible, and for this film they pretty much just built a working Batmobile. Usually when a film does a jump scene with a car, the car falls apart when it lands and they use a different car after that. On this film, they did around fifty jumps with the Tumbler before they had to stop and repair it.

"Spelunking" is the English word for cave exploring. Bruce needed a cover for why he needed a reinforced bulletproof suit, and rappelling down into caves might warrant that, if you don't look too close lol :P
Batman typically does have a no-kill or no-guns policy, as he started out as the "World's Greatest Detective" in the comics, there is a story arc though where his sidekick Robin dies and he abandons this rule to exact revenge, Punisher-style.
The bat-shaped throwing knives are supposed to be a nod to the Batarangs that he would use in the comics. Obviously these are not shaped right to return to him :P
Dr. Jonathan Crane is one of Batman's most frightening nemeses in the comics: the Scarecrow. He uses a powerful hallucinogenic compound that induces mind-shattering terror in its victims, causing people to quite literally go insane with fear.
I also LOVE the voice that Christian Bale used in this film, I wish he'd kept doing that in the next two, it gets sillier as time goes on :/

Ras al-ghul is Arabic for Head of the demon. And ghul is where the English word Ghoul comes from.
In the comics ras al-ghul is like an environmental extremist looking for 'perfect environmental balance' and believes the best way to achieve that is to eliminate half of humanity.. sound familiar? Like a certain mad titan from MCU? ;)
P.s. thanos in marvel comics doesn't want to eliminate half the universe to bring balance. In the comics he is in love with Death (a female character) and wants to kill half the universe to impress her. So I think MCU took this idea from ras al-ghul from the comics

33:50 I know it makes for exciting viewing, but there's no reason this train should still be moving. Since the 1920's, it's been a legal requirement that all trains in the US have operations dependent on a mechanism called a "Dead Man's Switch." That is a mechanism that can only be operated from the control room, at the front of the train. It's called a Dead Man's Switch, because if pressure is taken off it, as when the engineer dies or is forcibly removed, the brakes engage and it stops the train.

In German the word for bat is Fledermaus, or fluttering mouse. The history of Batman on the screen is fascinating. In the 60's you had the Adam West Batman, which was goofy, campy, and literally had a giant sound effect word flash after a punch, like BAMF. Then in 89 we got Tim Burton's Batman, which was dark and surreal and very different, and the sequel Batman Returns cranked that to 11 and was a bit too disturbing for a general audience, or to sell kids toys. Then in an effort to lighten the mood they gave Schumacher the reigns for a more light hearted and kid friendly approach like the 60's version, and while Batman Forever was a fun mess on fire, the sequel Batman and Robin was so bad it killed Batman's movie potential for years. Then we get Batman Begins, a more realistic and gritty take that f'ing worked, and worked so well that the sequel would win an Oscar and become most people's favorite Batman movie. Sorry for the long comment, but it's a long story, like 50 years long just for the movies.

There are _two_ main things you have to do to protect Batman's secret identity. It's a recurrent theme for Batman that his significant other changes _constantly._ Superman at least has Lois Lane, but Batman's significant other changes in _every single movie._ In the animated series, he almost never had a significant other for more than one episode, and there were episodes in which he didn't have a significant other at _all._ It wasn't because he couldn't find women who were _interested._ It was because he recognized this fact: that being Batman and having enemies meant that those enemies would seek to get to _him_ through _them._

I'm so happy to see you react to this amazing trilogy of Batman movies. Fun facts: Since Alfred's sense of duty and loyalty towards Bruce Wayne reminded him of military comradeship, Sir Michael Caine (Alfred) based his character's voice on that of a Colonel he knew when he was in the Army as an eighteen-year-old.
    Definition of spelunking:
Caving - also known as spelunking in the United States and Canada and potholing in the United Kingdom and Ireland - is the recreational pastime of exploring wild cave systems (as distinguished from show caves). In contrast, speleology is the scientific study of caves and the cave environment.
(25:12) This is a mixture of his fear-inducing toxins being poured into Gotham's water supply.
To avoid confusion, Katie Holmes (Rachel Dawes) chose not to reprise her role for the next movie "The Dark Knight". The role went to Maggie Gyllenhaal, the older sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Have a great Thursday and thank you for reacting to this awesome movie, Dasha! Hope you're doing well. Can't wait to see your next movie reaction!🌹❤️🍿👋🏻

Technically, Batman is mortal. He witnessed both of his parents gunned down right in front of him when he was a small child, and subsequently poured the fortune he inherited from his father into fighting crime and developing himself as a crime _fighter,_ and accordingly, has pulled off some incredible feats.
He's the world's greatest detective, a professional pilot, an escape artist and master of disguise. He's fluent in Japanese, Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish, French, Latin, German, and Russian. He has mastered 127 styles of martial arts which, it seems to me, would endow him with superhuman _time_ management. He has degrees in criminal science, forensics, computer science, chemistry, engineering and biology.
Additionally, because Batman and _Superman_ are both DC, it has happened once in a while that you will see one of them show up in the other's comics, TV shows and movies. Now, technically, Superman's most formidable adversary is business-magnate/billionaire Lex Luthor, but all the times that Superman has actually ended up dead, it has been _Batman's_ doing. Luthor cannot _get_ to Superman. Batman _can._

@DashaReacts - The scenes at the beginning, supposed to be in the harsh landscape of Tibet, were actually filmed in _my_ country! 😎
Ok, so I know you put this one up a long time ago already (and probably don't even read these comments anyway), but I just wanted to put this out there for the bragging rights 😏

As you're a fan of Christopher Nolan, I think you will really enjoy Memento. It was his second film and a great example of his mindbending approach to storytelling.

Memento is definitely a thinker, it'd be fun to watch a smart reactor like Dasha figure it out in real time.

No Batman only has fancy gadgets, vehicles, and martial art skills. Plus great detective skills as well. Some of his enemies even refer to him as detective.

I just find it humorous that in the same scene Bruce declares "he is no executioner" he then kills the clan of ninjas, including the very criminal that he originally refused to kill. Not to mention Raz alGul at the end. And that's assuming there were no homeless slumming in area the train burst through, in the worst part of Gotham. Someone has to clue him in to the point that if you set up a deadly situation, and leave someone to die in it, it is the same as killing them.

So one thing about these films. They are 3 individual films contained to themselves. They are connected. But after the 3rd film it's over. They aren't connected to anything else after.
Yeah Dr. Crane is The Scarecrow. He uses fear and deception much like Bruce, along with being smarter than most people and of course his fear toxin. :)

It's funny, we call bats "flying mice" in Swedish as well. It's cool to see that concept pop up in different languages. :)
As for the movie, it's great. I loved those movies back in the day (and still do). The next one is one of my all-time favorite superhero movies, it's just so amazing. It's fun to see you react to them, especially since you are going in a lot more blind than I did since I was a huge Batman fan when I was a kid. It allows you to have a very different experience and it's interesting to see you have it. I'm looking forward to future reactions. :)

… I still think you would enjoy R.E.D. (Retired, Extremely Dangerous) which is also technically part of DC. More in line with an action/spy movie than a classic comic film, but great fun starring Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, and Karl Urban. 😁

I was trying to reference actors in movies Dasha had already reacted to.

The Dark Knight Trilogy isn't connected to any other DC movies. I hope you'll still watch more DC movies, though. When you've finished this trilogy, the DCEU begins with "Man of Steel". It's followed by "Batman v Superman", which has a new Batman. Definitely watch the Ultimate Edition of BvS, and then the extended cut of "Suicide Squad 2016", then "Wonder Woman 2017", and then "Zack Snyder's Justice League" (NOT the theatrical version of Justice League). That's the order you should watch the DCEU. After you watch ZSJL, you can watch the other movies (Aquaman, SHAZAM!, Birds of Prey, Wonder Woman 84, and Suicide Squad 2022) in any order you want. You can also watch "Joker" whenever you want, because it's not connected to the DCEU, either.

In Papua New Guinea bats are called "Flying Foxes". This is not just a nickname, the word for bat in Tok Pisin (the Pidgin language of Papua New Guinea) is Flying Fox. Probably because the fruit bats are the size of dogs and have a wing span over 1.5 meters.
