You can't go by just one year. The best team ever was the New York Yankees of the 1950s who in that decade made the World Series eight times and won six of them: ’50, ’51, ’52, ’53, ’56, ’58 🙂

The NY Yankees teams of the 1930s (five championships), 1940s (four titles) and 1950s (six titles) were dominant. Cincinnati and Detroit combined never did anything close to that. The NY Yankees teams of the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s would have matched up quite well against Cincinnati and Detroit -- and everybody else. And would have beaten them, often.

The AI was terrible with names. Most the New York teams listed shouldn't be on the list. 86 Mets were not even the best team of the decade. They barely got past Houston the playoffs, had it gone to a seventh game it was over before it started with Mike Scott on the mound. I would pretty much put any of the 60's world champions as well as the world series losers ahead of most of the teams on this list.
