Using two cables (it works well with other logging programs as well). The USB cable for HRD rig control and the CI-V cable for WSJT-X rig control. In this configuration I’m using QSO forwarding in HRD Logbook. It works very well.

FT8 is a very popular mode and WSJT-X is my favorite program for it and JT9 and JT65.
I'm an Amateur Radio enthusiast. I love the hobby and experimenting with radios, antennas and software. I have a lot of fun. On my TH-cam channel I upload videos mostly on the Icom 7300 and Icom 7610 as well as Ham Radio software programs. I hope to inspire people to get involved in Amateur Radio.

In WSJT-X you can simply select Ham Radio Deluxe as the radio. This will run and log into HRD without the need for setting up the CI-V cable.

Thanks for the idea of using two cables to use two comm-ports. That resolved my problem using RS-BA1V2 as a remote software for digital modes. Now I control the WSJT-X by the CI-V cable (Com-Port 4) and control the RS-BA1V2 by the USB cable (Com-Port3). The WSJT-X is still installed on the server PC and I have the visual on my remote PC by using VNC (combination server-client) but the RS-BA1V2 does everything else, transfers the 2way audio to the remote PC and controls the 7300 for everything including the waterfall scope. It would be even better if I can make that CI-V comm-port virtual to be used over the network in which case I won't need VNC since the WSJT-X will be installed on the remote PC. That is something I still need to figure out. 73 de W5DMA

@@HamRadioAdventures Update: Instead of using VNC which provides blurry picture of the desktop, I used your idea of controlling the radio by HRD. Now by combination of three software apps (HRD, RS-BA1V2 and WSJTX) and two cables (USB and CI-V) I enjoy using my laptop for remote FT8 access to the IC-7300. The HRD runs only as a Windows service on the local desktop while it is also installed on the remote laptop allowing WSJTX remote connection to 7300. The FT8 app uses Icom virtual drivers (installed by RS-BA1) so no virtual audio cables are needed. Even though RS-BA1 doesn't show USB-D since it wasn't meant to be used for digital modes, the WSJTX works just fine with USB shown on the display. Besides the HRD, I had to include RS-BA1 in order to have two way audio on my remote laptop which also works well for SSB and CW. HNY too, 73 de W5DMA

I have just followed your 2 cable set up, i thought it is a great idea to have the programs independent but together too. I am sure I followed your set up, however ! when I expectantly double clicked a contact everything worked, the rig went PTT but no output.
You did say that the CIV cable doesn't carry audio and didn't actually demonstrate how WSJTX logs into HRD so I wonder if I should not expect it to transmit or I must still have a simple setting that is different.
I am sure the Icom settings are the same as yours going by the screen shots on your web site. Cant seem to see any descriptions of your WSJTX settings though.
Main question is should I expect WSJTX to work fully over the CIV cable or not. I am happy to go back to piggy backing onto HRD but this latest way seemed to be the Bees Knees.
Thanks in advance for any advice, regards, Chris.
Just re checked the 7300 settings. All same as yours. Tried to use the contact on your web site but that didn't like me. Hence this question :-)

Hi Mika, Using one cable for the CAT connection use Ham Radio Deluxe as the rig in WSJT-X. You'll need to setup QSO forwarding if you are not using something like GridTracker or JT Alert. See this for QSO forwarding k0pir.us/hrd-logbook-and-wsjt-x-integration-new-hrd-v6-4-0-886/

is it possible to run RSBA1 together with WSJT-X simultaneously? if so do you have the setup video? thank you.

Hi and thank you for commenting here. I have not done that but I believe that it is possible. There is a Facebook group and a ham on there who is very knowledgeable of RS-BA1. It is the RS-BA1 group on Facebook. I am sure that that group can help. I hope to get to that soon enough thank you again and best 73!

Hi Revadan. I just used this video for exactly this reason. Set the WSJT-X up as Rich has above, then set RS-BA1 up as you normally would (there's a cracking Icom video which tells you how to do that). Something I have noticed though, v1 of RS-BA1 doesn't allow you do use USB-D, only normal USB.
Also works with N1MM+ perfectly. I'm guessing it would work with Win4Icom and so on too.

@@HamRadioAdventures Well I just received what you said to get. It doesn't work. The software that came with it has nothing for ICOM. I'm glad it was $9.97 instead of a hundred bucks.

@@bigjoeshmo No the CD you probably don’t need, that’s just the driver for the cable. Once you plug the cable in to your computer plug it into the remote port on the Icom radio and then check the device manager on your computer you should see a comport added. If you don’t unplug the cable from your computer and then plug it back in while watching device manager. If it ask you for a driver then you’ll use the CD. I always go with sellers that rank with 99% or more and sellerd that take returns. It’ll work.
