This is my absolute favorite song by this amazingly talented bunch of musicians! I wish they had never split up. They were so great together. Miss those days so much!!!
I'm still a fan of david lee roth, but there's no denying that sammy hagar created some of the best van halen music ever. What a powerful vocalist and the new music was great
Standing Hampton was an entire album of Hagar success. Rock Candy a rock and roll staple of greatness, like Stranglehold and Teddy Nugent and so many others. I love him with Van Halen. We will always love Eddie. We grew up together!
Halen live with Sammy is so vastly superior than live with DLR. I love the classic era. Absolutely. No doubt about it. But let's be honest here, watch live footage from the first DLR era. Alex, Ed and Mikey are flippin' amazing while David Lee Roth just prances around and vocally craps all over them.

Everyone was on top of their game that night....especially Eddie. One of the greatest moments of my life. Can believe how time flies. I was 21 and in love, now I'm 50, firmly believing i grew up in the greatest eras of music!!!
Eddie and the boys at the top of their game here. A true measure of a great band is do they sound as good live as they on vinyl. And Sammy's vocals and Eddie's solo are incredible here. I was lucky enough to see VH with Roth and Hagar in concert.
I'm so old I saw Sammy after he left Montrose. He was the opening act for Boston at the old Boston Gardens. I hate getting old but I will always cherish the memories of seeing the greatest bands live at the Gardens.
I saw Sammy in 1980 or '81. (He spit in my face. Best concert ever!) I am not a fan of old, either. But I looked into the alternative and was even less of a fan of that option.
Sammy so obviously brought JOY to this band. Not that they were not great in their previous incarnation, but this "new day" for them, was for real. Love you guys, and David.
Couldn't agree more. I saw this tour. Eddie and Sammy were musical soulmates. That's why it doesn't make sense that literally a year later, Eddie is talking shit about Sammy and pretty much fired him. I dont think it started with the song for the Twister soundtrack. So many little trsnsgressions and misunderstandings had to have happened within that year for it to have gotten to the point where Eddie became estranged from Sammy. Glad they got back for a short while in 2004 (saw them in LA on my birthday!) but I could tell they weren't enjoying each other's company. Sammy then waited in vain for 16 years to once again play with hus musucal soulmate, had to watch Eddie tour wirh Dave not once but twice. Damn.
@@donnswaby369 apparently tensions really started during the recording of this album. Eddie also relapsed and was back using drugs and booze and Sammy called him on it in the studio and everyone was denying it including Eddie. Also had management in Eddies ear saying shit and trying to play both sides which cause unneeded tensions. For what it’s worth both Sammy and Eddie reconciled and rekindled their friendship before Eddie passed. Which gave Sammy some much needed closure. I take solace in the fact things ended on good terms between them and they didn’t take that silly stuff to the grave. I think they both realized life is too short for petty feuds.
That applause was dubbed in for the video. Listen carefully and listen to how the applause ends. Sounds very fake. This is done a lot in concert videos. I hate it.
