This guy inmortalized himself into the christmas season. Each time this time of the year comes this song comes to lighten up streets and stores all around the world. Hes going to be singing for us for centuries to come. Thx bro, nice song.
There's still nothing like transferring from 35mm film to create a 4K. I'm so glad this video wasn't simply created using VHS. Merry Christmas, everybody! Rest in peace, George!
Man, remastered music videos look very good! 36 years later and it looks so good! I wonder how All Star looks! It was released earlier, so it must look better!
Not sure if it's too late or this was a joke but tom scott made a video explaining this perfectly. So search tom scott music video remaster and you will find the video.
All Star's remastered music video looks... TO ME, pretty decent. It's sharper, but it's not really better. It's a bit over saturated, and a lot of parts looked oversharpened. There are deinterlacing artifacts everywhere.
Oh my God, he made such beautiful songs and had such a beAutiful voice. Add the fact that he was so handsome. I hope there is an afterlife and that he is happy. He deserves happiness, LOOK at what he left for all of us.
Why does the song sound just a bit different than in the original video? It feels like it's slowed down, but I don't think it is. Does anyone know why that is?
Amore George quanto manchi,la tua canzone di Natale echeggia in tutto il mondo ma che tristezza che proprio il giorno di Natale sia l'anniversario della tua morte. Un abbraccio sin lassù.❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏
In Tom Scott’s video he said that the engineers who were remastering the music video had to track down all of the film to reproduce it to a higher quality. They were missing a bit of film so they had to work with the original piece. Good catch though.
If you mean ‘How’, this one was shot in 35mm film, which can be sharper than today 4K. At that time people didn’t need to make them 4K because no VHS or DVD can handle that much data. For modern format people just need to do an export or editing on modern method using the original tape, this is called “mastering”, and hence a “Remaster”
Very poorly done. For example, the cable car turns out to be the wrong color! It doesn't mean that if someone converts a classic PAL, which is a yellowish set, into a gray-blue shade, that they have "won" 😁😉
@@PostalAngular Except it wasn't filmed on "tape". It was filmed on 35mm film negative and they have a fully restored version uploaded using the original camera negative. th-cam.com/video/E8gmARGvPlI/w-d-xo.html Look at the sharpness of that compared to the "4K remastered" sharpness on the guy's original video.
Does the color orange not exist in your world? Christ not everything is as Stark as modern day, orange was a rampantly used color and a good one. It's not like their lipstick is orange too.
The color was red. Its just the after affects changed the color in the original video. The 4k version is the exact same film but rescanned using recent technology.
@@Shark-pj8in I study color theory, this is not how that works. Anything from Autochrome to modern filters. The red in the original is more pinkish, not bright orange. Also name one 80's van that had red paint on the side and not retro orange. and the Gloves in the original are clearly red.

Last Christmas looks good because was recorded on film

Legit one of my favorite Christmas songs
ジョージマイケルがもういないなんて、寂しい😞
クリスマスに旅立ったとは、驚きました。
それにしても、懐かしいなあ❤
Different editing in 03:22 (hope and pray some day they release some of the extra footage from the film)
???
Yes apparently there was film missing, but I cant tell. Plz explain if you can.
@@Shark-pj8ininstead of the first shot fading to another, it never uses any transition and just plays the next shot.
I understand the pitch change of the audio to avoid copyright strikes.... but man it just ruins the vibe.
good ear. I wouldn't have noticed
Same
Brilliant
Hahaha, they forget to add the glow after they rescanned negatives. Now it looks like some 70s documentary.
Makes you wonder if they left it out to highlight even more the extra detail.
George Michael the best forever

Ok this version is briliant, next is please Macgyver all season in 4K!

A few shots of the remastered version look off, but nonetheless it is still an amazing restoration.

I like the new version....but that old vibe got lost
Yeah, the haze /glow is gone. People literally use filters on 8k cameras to get that softer radiant look.
Yep the 80s glow made with video desk aftereffects. Now they rescanned original negatives but did not add the glow.
good job
Wonderful! How do you sinchronize both videos to view at the same time ?
You can easily do it with automatic audio syncing in editing software. Just resize and mute one
wonderful Michael
Girl's orange jacket have turned red after 4K restoration, which one is authentic ? Lol
The car George and friends arrive in too. Orange to red 😂
The difference is absolutely beautiful ❤️😍😍😍😍😍😍
Two thousand nineteen wonderful 😻😻😻😻😻
You know what 2019 also brought us? COVID
RTX OFF - RTX ON
2019 version is awesome. Looks like a new peoduction with a 80ies theme. Good job
awsome!
Thanks!
The original version has been replaced with the 4K version. Why did they do that?

When the right 4k part looks 480p! Wow! Great review...not!

How the hell did you manage to get a 4K remaster to look almost as bad as the VHS?
WTF.
Directly from Sony Music Entertainment man :)
It was filmed on tape so they have a ton of quality to work with, Tom Scott has a cool video on it.

No, I know the original wasn’t orange. I know it was red. It just looks orange on the video.
