It’s not, it’s the brilliance of your brain tricking you into thinking that based on the symphonic chords. And I know it’s the brilliance of Vulf to make use of it.
Are you speaking figuratively, or literally? Cory had his godfather Nile Rodgers on his podcast ♥️; it works be cool to see the two discuss their rhythm chops on "Companion Pass" and JM's outrageous playing on "John Mayer Trio - Vultures with awesome intro".
Nate Smith is drum Jesus and I am a disciple. And I've never heard Cory Wong play blues like that. Fkn smokes. The rigidity and precision of the first blues section contrasted against the swagger and face-melting soul of that second section of pure butter - this, as far as I’m concerned, is an example of the absolute pinnacle of musical composition and performance. It quite simply literally does not get better than that. If you didn’t feel every atom in your face start to stretch into a different dimension as Nate pulled us through the veil into a completely different world, you have to have been sleeping. BUT SERIOUSLY… what the fuck’s with the fade out? 😂🤣😂 Thanks for this. It made my night!!!
As much as I loved the ginormous drum kit on the Tailwinds/Delta Force sessions, it's a pleasure seeing Nate get back to basics. There's a sneaky little fill at 3:42 that's super solid too.
Oh yeah that fade out is perfect. For me this song tells the story of a guy running away from idk the police and then stepping into a crowded bar so the cops lose him and he can have a drink, talking the rest of the night away with some people he met there.
oh dang is this the first proper fade-out in the Vulf catalogue? As in the first time the whole track fades to nothing at the end? Reminds me of how a mate described fadeouts, especially ones with a solo still going: "It's like the party's still going but you're not invited anymore" - sometimes a fade is the perfect choice though!
@@jaycielle 1612 has a fade out aswell, but thats only because something happened right at the end of recording that made it unusable, so jack had to fade out that one. Its def rare in the vulfverse!

Forget mitochondria -- Nate Smith is the powerhouse of this cell.
My CoQ-10 supplements are actually little pieces of Nate Smith
This sounds like the second half of a Harry Mack line.
Ask yourself this, have you ever seen both in the same room at the same time?
Couldn’t agree more
HahaHa awesome 👏🤣
crash cymbals are now a sign of weakness
Why would you ever want a drum that rings for more than a quarter second?
No more government subsidies for cymbal stacks!
Don't know why Nate's messing with a floor tom for that matter. Isn't he even versatile?
Pretty sure that is a bass drum not a floor Tom but I could be wrong.
The John Stanier mindset
Great to finally get an update on who was “Running Away.”
At first glance I thought he was a Speedwalker
It's nate smith

It's my definition of heaven !
Jamming until their next video
If you look carefully, you can see the sweat on the cinderblocks as they try to restrain the cosmic power that is Nate's right foot.
Hahah!!
It's great hearing Cory doing more "lead"-style stuff in addition to his core "lead rhythm" style.
Not saying its bad (at all), but rhythm is where its at for Cory imo, its his 'signature', and on a whole other level.
Even when he plays a solo, he’s overdubbing with some sliding chords. 2 for the price of 1 😆
Check the description. It’s because he’s on “cory wong guitar”
@@TheFrederic888 I want to say thats Mark comping over that. It seems like hes fretting it during Cory's Solo.
@@TheFrederic888 As TheSpiceLord said, you'll find the comping is Mark Lettieri's part. No overdubs from Cory here, I'm thinking.

If you listen to all the drum solos it will sound as if they are in key with the last chord played. Brilliant
and it's also very smooth
Cory sheds his funk wrist for a the bluesiest solo I’ve ever heard from him

There's a very good chance it's actually a Squier Vista Musicmaster from the late 90s. Those were available in shell pink with a matching headstock.
