Make a video where you ‘fix’ a poorly designed ship while still maintaining what the ship is at its core. It could be a new series called ‘Ship Doctor’. Or something better Attempt 3
But, let's be honest here, if Starkiller Base has been in the EU people would say the same thing about it. "Oh, it's a SUPER Death Star and it can shoot lasers through HYPERSPACE and it EATS SUNS, gimme a break..."
I read the series, and I always thought that the Sun Crusher was the equivalent of kids on a playground saying "oh you can't shoot me with laser eyes because I have a Super-Duper-Anti-Laser-Eye-Force-Field-of-Awesomeness™" so I agree it was a bit too overpowered, even for Star Wars' science fantasy style. But it was also kinda cool at the same time.
THE E Man when you said the thing about laser eyes boy do I remember stuff like that lol me and my friends used to play star wars and I didn’t want to be a Jedi or a sixth so I was normally a clone trooper or a battle droid and when I knew I blasted my friend he would be like “no I dodged it” or “you just damaged me”
The could have had the She Crusher do the exact same things, without giving it super armor. Extreme heat and Gravity resistance was all that was needed.
It's not just that its OP. It also 0 weaknesses, is almost indestructible, and has in general no drawbacks for all its insane strengths. Literally the only downside to it is that it has only 11 op-as-fuck resonance torpedoes. It's also a Mary Sueperweapon because the amazing tech that goes into it comes out of nowhere, is way better than everything else, and is never seen again. It could only be more of a Mary Sue if it had natural rainbow hair and its own force powers.
I don't mean that it's a Mary Sue, but it is the Mary Sue of superweapons (hence the portmanteau). The Death Stars, Starkiller Base, the Galaxy Gun, the Darksaber, and every other superweapon all follow the same conventions: they are big, devestating, slow, lumbering, imposing, and fairly vulnerable. The Sun Crusher throws all Star Wars superweapon design rules out the window and says, "Nope, I'm the best, I'm more powerful than a Death Star, as fast and maneuverable as an X-Wing, and completely invulnerable. Aren't I, like, so much cooler than everybody else?" It is a Mary Sueperweapon not just because it is the most OP thing ever but because it is completely unjustified. It is, however, also a Macguffin. The fact that it's a preposterous Macguffin which ignores the rules of its own universe and is never brought up again makes it analogous to a Mary Sue.
"Woah. This things armor is literally indestructible. Imagine if we replicated this and put it on our fighters so we won't even have to use frigates or cruisers, they would be unstoppable." "...nah" "Yeah, you're right, dumb idea."
yeah, it's too bad all the scientists who built the ship and designed the armor are dead or had their memories erased specifically so they couldn't build more of them....
Wow. No, I don't have time to read every legends book in existence. I was going on the context if the video. I'm saying it's stupid to have used this technology for a specific ship instead of mass producing it for broader applications. Don't crucify me.
+TheMasterCheese, make a drone the size of an early laptop with a hyperdrive made out of this shit using a coilgun/railgun to fire projectiles made out of it with an AI, boom got the ultimate war machine.
Justin Last You desperately need something better to do with your life if you are taking anything I say about a star wars legends story that seriously.
@@TheMasterCheese that's like saying "If the Nazis had Jet fighters and they were so good, why didn't they mass produce them?" Two reasons: time and resources. The Maw was a research installation, not a military base or factory planet. The Sun Crusher, while a completed vessel, was little more than a prototype, a test model for future development. Most of the bases' resources had been devoted to building the Death Star and it's associated technologies, as well as other superweapons like the Galaxy Gun (shoots planet-killing hyperspace missiles) and the World Devastator (sucks up materials from a planets surface and turns them into weapons: Rebels actually featured one in season 4, as a "resource collector") The Sun Crusher was, frankly, too new to be anything close to be ready for mass production. The chemical formula for the Quantum armor, which only existed in limited quantities, was lost with the Scientists.
Fallable weapon system that actually destroyed itself >girl who is magically expert at piloting, shooting, force-usage and lightsaber combat with literally zero training.
And then there's me, who thinks ho-bunk Luke (even though I love him) is the most obvious Mary Sue. I mean, kid raised in the desert? Clearly this powerful force-wielder is never going to have access to anything resembling a fighter ship, weapon, or any need/desire to use them. (to note: I'm being sarcastic. saying Rey is a Mary Sue while ignoring Luke is just absurd)
I view the sun crusher like hyperspace ramming. It may be really powerful or cool in style, but it changes the whole state of warfare and won't every be seen again.
On one hand I agree. On the other hand, it wasn't revealed that X-wings were made of the same stuff as the Suncrusher all along and were carrying blasters with an 'anti-star' setting.
@@aurtosebaelheim5942imagine if they actually made your idea real. Suddenly all the Resistance needs is the location of the First Order base: they send a single X-wing to the system, tell it to fire it’s lasers at the Star and then get the hell out of there
@@MariOmor1 I don't think many writers could have made it work well, but Star Wars advancing into an era of mutually assured destruction could have been really interesting. You'd need a more reasonable villain, but suddenly everyone's putting their military bases near highly-populated areas to limit the risk of superweapons. Blowing up a system that just has an enemy base in it is fair game, but blowing up a city-planet would herald the end of civilization.
*sees discord notification* noticeable excitement *sees TH-cam notification* uncontrollably excited Don’t worry Eck take care of your family we’ll all be here for you.
One of the dumbest ships that come to mind is bosk’s ship. It’s more of a starfighter, but still, it’s pretty dumb. Though, this ship is kind of dumb too. Also again, good luck with your child! Family is more important than videos, remember that
The absolute dumbest ship is the one that this random alien species made out of dead giant beetle exoskeletons, not only did it look stupid, it didn't have any weapons
The Suncrusher was grossly overpowered, although the idea of a small superweapon platform that uses a torpedo that causes a cascading effect in a star isn't that outlandish. Of course then the issue becomes why use such a ship at all. The torpedo is really the super weapon, and could be mounted to literally any ship. The Suncrusher may have been super durable for the task, but not necessary. They could have just as easily mounted the weapon to a tie bomber, or a SD, or whatever. More than anything, it is this world breakage that makes the Suncrusher stupid. Much like the hyperspace ram (which is actually far worse, but let's not reopen that wound), the armor and torpedo are just too powerful and break the world. Now, if they explained both in terms of them being basically one time deals, like say the armor is immensely rare as is the torpedo materials, then it could work as a limited use weapon, but they didn't.
The armor could be explained. (still its impossible to be made) a diamond level material with a material density which is up to 100x of a diamond. Still, how did they shape the armor in the frst place?
Ethan Hatcher Well 1. I think it was in the current canon ( may have been legends ) a rebel pilot during the galactic civil war tried the same tactic holdo did on snokes flag ship with the hyperspace ram but against a executor super star destroyer, the executor class not only survived but was completely unscathed. 2. If hyperspace rams are so effective and can take out entire ships then why don't they do it more often or well ever? And why aren't they mentioned at all succeeding in canon or legends?
Non-Star Wars video idea: set up a camera in an empty room, FILL room with balloons (time lapse?), release your Corgi into said room and play resulting footage in slow motion. I'd DEFINITELY give you a thumbs up on that one!
I liked the Sun Crusher. I always figured that its armor and torpedoes were extremely difficult to synthesize, likely being made of extremely rare substances. I enjoy this channel, but calling the Sun Crusher "the dumbest" seems a bit harsh.
I feel like "I, Jedi" was a good book, didn't read the Jedi Academy series personally, and I am a big X-Wing fan, so a book all about Coran Horn really appealed to me when I read it.
Coran Being as powerful as he was was sort of strange, and them actually going in-depth about how Jedi weren't just "more powerful" or "weaker" but some were just better at certain things made a lot of sense.
I've had this ship as a micromachine since I was a kid and never knew what ship it was. Kinda glad you did this video after 20 years I finally found out what this sucker was and congratulations on becoming a dad.
What the New Republic should have done was take the super-quantum-whatever armor of the Sun Crusher, make an A-wing out of it, and then go around kamikazeing Super Star Destroyers.
The sun crusher is RIDICULOUSLY OP. Like, why not use quantum crystalline armor more? What if they made a homing projectile with that armor? Imagine Yondu's arrow, but ripping through dreadnoughts?
@@darykeng It would be like a Star Wars version of a discarding sabot round. A tungsten dart at a couple times the speed of sound passing through your armored whatsit. There is heat, spalling (shards and flakes of metal from the pierced hull) flying about and shredding your crew, possible hits on ammo or fuel (BOOM!) and some direct death from people being skewered by a fast metal rod. As a Star Wars ship that does this, you get multiple passes on each target. Imagine hitting the SD in the center of the middle main engine and passing through the engine, the engineering spaces, fuel, the inner decks of the ship, the fighter bays, and out through the bow of the ship. Come around and make a pass through the bridge they so conveniently place in plain view.
I actually really liked the sun crusher and how it played into the story of Kyp falling to the darkside and his redemption. I didn't realize it looked so silly though lol
Ketwolski Then I take it you'd only heard of the Sun Crusher before today. The grey blob on the thumbnail is a canted outline of the schematic of the Sun Crusher from the old Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels published in the mid 90's.
4:05, well the ship was stolen by Kyo before they figured it out, all the scientists (except Qwi who had her memory erased) were killed, the data was destroyed at the Maw Installation/proto-death star destruction.
Honestly, I think this one makes more sense than some of the other super weapons in star wars. Its size makes sense, especially if the armor was difficult or expensive to produce, as it makes it fiscally reasonable, and gives an explanation for why it is not used in other ships. And the super-weapon aspect honestly seems much more reasonable to me than the galaxy gun or even the death star. Rather than a quasi-mystical process of power generation for a MASSIVE laser, you have a projectile that could, conceivably, introduce destabilizing elements into the process of a star and cause the already massive energies present to lead to the destruction of a system. Though it is certainly "overpowered" in the sense that it is almost literally indestructible, its power could at least be backed up by relatively well explained pseudo-science.
I really like the series. I loved kyp. It is one of my favorite characters. He is a mirror of Luke. A good heart but also really powerful and independant. Can use the dark side but is good inside
Ngl I did enjoy the trilogy about the Sun Crusher. Sure it wasn’t perfect, especially since it was far to OP and odd looking. But tbh it’s still a lot better then Starkiller Base.
Actually, the Starkiller Base is even dumber than the Sun Crusher. But hey, that's not a ship, so that's off the range of this video I guess. Remember, that thing was a carved out moon or planet with a breathable atmosphere. So it had an active core as well. Then it became a giant superstructure capable of maintaining a base, hold the planet together, retain its atmosphere, power a planetary shield, and swallow a motherf*ing star... Because the Sun Crusher wasn't op enough I guess ... Then it fires a completely unbelievable energy beam that can somehow split in five and travel through hyperspace and still be totally visible from the ground of other star systems... Sure. Sun Crusher was just op with an unbelievable armor and weaponry. Starkiller just takes the physics of its own universe and rapes it until it does whatever it wants.
I HATE Starkiller Base with a BURNING passion. The whole thing is just stupid, I mean at least the Death Star needed to be IN THE SAME SYSTEM to destroy a planet, but THAT THING can destroy a SYSTEM from over half a GALAXY away? WTF was Abrams smoking when he came up with that cheap-ass excuse plot? It would actually have made more sense if the First Order had somehow acquired the Sun Crusher.
biggest problem with Starkiller base is that it was built after the empire's fall. How the hell do they get all this money and then the thing is destroyed. So its like hey look at this super weapons-and its gone..
ok now think of this, the people they fired at actually saw it for long enough that they knew they were going to die *BEFORE* it hit them, now think about it, this thing goes across the galaxy in a few seconds yet apparently Abrams has no fucking clue as to why we call space travel "faster than light" or what "lightspeed" is, unless of course (using star wars uber fanboy logic) everyone was just standing still for literally hundreds of years with a ship having gone out and filmed it for a while then played it on loop above everyone in every star system ever, then it makes sense, but it doesn't.
@@MrChickennugget360 It was a terrible, terrible idea. Starkiller, really? Another Death Star-ish? Another EXHAUST PORT? They get the plans of the Base... Without getting to it. Either the First Order computers have the security level of a syrian village, or they are just dumb enough to let their plans go out in any Star Destroyer. OR, they are not supposed to have the plans, but they have it anyway, because they had the plans in the first movie... As you your idea, it'd obviously a million times better than what they did, but that's not hard to do... However, I'll be honest, I don't really like the idea of Force based Superweapons. This just feels wrong. The Force is not plug and play energy you can use to power a gun or a generator, that's just silly. Having the capability of reaching every living being is even more problematic: you wouldn't use it to destroy a world or star. You would just act on those people, to impose your will, period. And that's just too OP, too ridiculously, rendering the Force as just space magic, while it aspires to be more than just that. Want a real Superweapon that feels believable and efficient? A virus, engineered by the First Order to sever someone's link to the Force... And that makes the victim loose its mind and slowly dying, without explanation. Here. Luke fixed at the plans time.
@@lucofparis4819 in a time where jedi are pretty much extinct (and those that aren't are both untrackable and unharmful, that weapon would be useless. Though maybe in the Old Republic era it would have been deadlier than the Star Forge...
We could at least try to give it the credit of being the highest tier of empire tech and research and the resources required are rare so that when it was destroyed there wasnt any more left to make another
#megastupid I hate those op story stuff. That makes every story stupid. Somebody or something that can do everything without a flaw, might be cool sometimes, but it makes the story seem banal. So that is indeed the dumbest and lamest ship in sw. Congratiulations on your first child.
I've always loved the Sun Crusher BECAUSE it is a ridiculous O.P. thing that crosses the uncanny valley into so-bad-it's-good. But I never really considered how it creates a world-building hiccup until you pointed it out. Oh and BTW in the anime Gurren Lagann there is a giant robot that can fling entire galaxies as shuriken. So yea...
I always figured the resonance torpedo technology was suppressed by the New Republic because of the potential for destruction, and the crystal quantum armor was too expensive for mass production. That is the only way to square this silly bit of legends as far as I can figure.
If I remember right in the book quantum armor production is time, and material intensive. It took years to cover the sun crusher, and it is the size of about a B-wing. Also the scientist that designed the armor wasn’t home girl in the video. She designed the resonance torpedo, and some of the ship. A think tank was on the station working together to design the whole ship. If I remember right another scientist came up with the armor. Not all of them made it off the station, or the death star prototype alive.
A single torpedo the size of a sedan being able to destroy an entire star system and somehow being just a side project for the empire is hilarious but also is something that an editor should have looked at and gone "No."
*See's thumbnail* The Sun Crusher? Yeah it does feel out-of-place in the Star Wars universe. The story it appears in is pretty good though. I know you'll get to this in the finale of the Vong sub-series. Won't stop me from going through the motions though. Anyways: Can you breakdown what is by far the largest space battle in the entire franchise? *The* *Battle* *of* *Yuuzhan'tar!* I have made this request: Sixty-six times.
For a moment, I thought that silhouette was for some mystery star destroyer I'd never seen before. Then, I saw the preview, and my just went, 'Oh god. It's the Sun Crusher.'
+mohammad khan, that would be the Type-47 the one actually made for combat, it could easily solo the Umbaram MHC, but most likely if they were to go into combat there would be swarms of umbaran heavy arty, that would be the only way to win, but even then thanks to the rapid fire turret on the scarab it's not anywhere close to guaranteed.
Off the top of my head I would probably say Star trek if the Borg are involved. Otherwise maybe Halo or Star Wars? I don't know enough about the shield tech lore to have a good answer so I'd love to see a video on it.
+Justin Last, LOL, Star Wars is 100% at the bottom, not only are their "shields" complete and utter shit (you like most other star wars wankers don't read complete comments or just troll a lot, hard to tell) were talking about personnel shields, so Probably going with Halo (HAHA they just said Halo so that includes the Forerunner which means that no other sci-fi on this list has a snowballs chance in hell at winning anything.)
+Justin Last, OH MY GOD IT'S SO HARD TO TELL, ARE YOU A TROLL OR REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY DUMB??? "Bullets! Primitive, Human Bullets..." think your a bit to much into your star-gate roleplay. well their not used so yah your right. Your fucking dumber than shit lol. What? IT SAYS PERSONAL SHIELDS AT THE TOP, THEIR PERSONAL SHIELDS ARE SHIT. So? god your just beyond stupid.
Now we're asking the big questions. Because if something can craft and shape it, it has to be as strong or stronger than the material itself. And if you can forge something into shape, you can break it too.
Maybe the reason why we don't see the quantum diamond armour stuff again after the sun crusher is because it's really expensive and the even the empire could only afford to put it on a ship of star fighter size.
Dark Side Darth revan I agree, the concept is really good, the empire had a secret facility with technology that could change the war. The problem is that technology is made in a realistic way. It could’ve been an Imperial class star destroyer retrofitted with the quantum crystal armor and the resonance torpedos. That would’ve made much more sense. But instead they went with a fighter design that could literally win the war in its own. It’s the equivalent of someone building a suit of armor and then defeating all the world’s militaries all on their own.
Justin Last I know, but I’m not talking about a story addition, I’m talking about an entire story overhaul instead. To me it would make much more sense to test this sort of technology on an existing ship before making original designs. The real military does this all the time with new technology, they augment existing assets to use the new tech, and then create new platforms specifically for that new technology, if need be.
Donut Dude I'm pretty sure they did test out thetorpedos before most likely however the material it's made out of I bet did not have a lot becuase of how strong and rare it is like it's more likely they tested the torpedos out with a drone to see the effect of the torpedos however they most likely had limited supply of the metal it's made out of witch is to be expected and they can't exactly just coat a freighter with the stuff they would have to re make the entire ship but that would get rid of your supply so more likely they decided to just make the sun crusher design
I think it was mainly because Kevin J. Anderson kinda wrote the jedi academy trilogy with Kyp Durron who's a mary sue self insert who obviously had to fly the most powerful superweapon ever.
Congrats on your future arrival, the concept of a weapon system destroying entire suns should have been explored more ,especially in relation to 'the force'.
He's never going to do it. You know why? Because Eck seems to be under the impression that the UNSC Infinity is the only yardstick for human ships in the Halo universe. Not that I'm dissing Eck in any way, his content is awesome, but I do feel that he really needs to do his research properly and stop treating the Infinity as if it's a mainline capital ship instead of the tinfoil-wrapped glass cannon wonder weapon that it's portrayed as in the books and comics, or the utterly irrelevant scenic backdrop that it is in both the games it's appeared in so far.
People using "legends" "numbers" still exist nowadays? Were you put into carbonite during all that time ir what? Because it's pretty hard to miss the waterfall of arguments going against it, especially on everyone's favorite hatdoggo channel
I mean, the in-universe answer was that the Sun Crusher's armor alone cost more than both Death Stars to manufacture, and took several years just to make enough for a craft of that size. The point was "This is not a starship, this is mad science."
I Have A Love-Hate Relationship with the Sun Crusher Hate how it's so overpowered... Love how It can easily shut up a Trekkie who claims Trek weapons are Superior To Wars weapons.
+cgimofo Well, I wouldn't say the authors of the EU are lazy. They put a lot of work into what they do and make sure all of it connects. Some ideas are hit or miss but that doesn't really take away from how good the story is.
Difference between Trek and Wars books, one has good hooks and is entertaining to read, the other makes an old fashioned textbook look better. I'll let you decide which.
Interestingly, the book came out at about the same time as ‘Star Trek Generations’ which also featured a torpedo capable of destroying a star. The SC’s quantum crystalline armor is practically comic book tech, though.
I don't know what you're talking about. I personally love the Sun Crusher. It always seemed, to me, the logical conclusion of the crazy number of superweapons in Star Wars.
Sure. A single Starfighter with more destructive power than the Death Star, requiring only a fraction of the manpower and resources to operate, that's wrapped in a shell of anti-everything armor. There's Power Creep, and then there's a 5-year-old's idea of cool. This is the latter. Crap like this is the reason why Disney had to throw the Expanded Universe into the dumpster, because it had built up by years and years of authors, ranging from the actually talented to middle-school fanfic levels of bad, all writing without anyone to coordinate their efforts or maintain quality control.
"Logical conclusion" or not, it doesn't make any sense. The empire, or any faction really, has never demonstrated the ability to create half the things Sun Crusher was made of. Their tech simply isn't advanced enough. The Empire can create superweapons, but there's no way it should have been able to construct the Sun Crusher. Seriously, the Sun Crusher makes *Centerpoint station* look like a primitive spear. And Centerpoint was created by the star wars-equivalent of the Forerunners! Think of it this way. "Logical advancement" would be like going from the bow and arrow to the crossbow. *Thats* logical. What the Empire did was like going from the bow and arrow to a bloody *howitzer.* It makes no sense!
The thing I hate about the Suncrusher is that the reason for its construction was never revealed. Tarkin developed the weapon on secret. Apparently not even Palpatine knew about the weapon
Wouldn’t it have been interesting if thrawn discovered the maw installation and the sun crusher? I doubt he would actually have used it given his dislike for super weapons. Ironically he would be far more happy about finding 4 star destroyers than a super weapon.
@@tyaty thrawn more than anything wanted the war over so the galaxy could prepare for the impending yuzzhan vong attack so probably what thrawn would do is issue a holonet all over the galaxy of his new weapon. First he would demonstrate that the new republic could not destroy it by showing a star destroyer bombard it with turbo lasers and concussion missles causing no damage at all and finally showing it destroying an uninhabited system and give the new republic an ultimatum of an unconditional surrender or the sun crusher being used against the new republic military.
Huh... It's really interesting that this reminds me that this is the Super Weapon that I've blocked out of my memory. This video helps to explain why after all these years.
Congratulations on your new child! Not sure if you have done something similar already, but I would love to see a video or two where you talk bout how you would overcome the defenses of a specific planet using a particular force, like if you had to conquer Clone Wars-era Coruscant using the Imperial fleet at the Battle of Endor.
great video as always, though there is another vehicle that uses quantum-crystalline armor, the Fast Hand submersible mining environment from the Young Jedi Knights: Shadow Academy book. since the size of Corusca gems is lager the further down you go, and considering a crystal large enough for a lightsaber could buy you an entire Coruscate city block, the expenditure might be worth it here, but might otherwise be too costly for any sort of mass production.
40k lore would be awesome coming from your style. It is one thing to have a lore story told, but than to have it annualized brings a while new level to the video.
Yeah I think the Sun Crusher was probably the second silliest thing to come out of the original trilogy and I had to argue with my brother about it all the time because he loved that trilogy, “So why didn't the Republic use the magical crystal armor?" “Because it was way too expensive to build" “Well then how did the ginger at the Maw get the materials to build it when they're cut off from the galaxy?"
This is what happens when your kid tries to impress others at the playground. "Well, my starship is indestructible, and, uh, it can, um, blow up suns! And it's the size of a starfighter!"
Haven't watched the video yet but that silhouette is unmistakable :) Been a long time but.. seem to recall the book where it appeared was fairly entertaining.
It’s been years since I read any of the Jedi Academy books. I actually got to meet Kevin J Anderson as a kid and he autographed my copies of his books. I have to wonder what he thinks of Star Killer Base in Force Awakens, lol.
by the by, ive also been wondering about the most effective and least suicidal way to use a sun crusher.. best way i can come up with thus far is to sacrifice an allied interdictor to prevent the enemy fleet from following suit and escaping themselves after i personally escape the blast radius.

The Death Stars, Starkiller Base, the Galaxy Gun, the Darksaber, and every other superweapon all follow the same conventions: they are big, devestating, slow, lumbering, imposing, and fairly vulnerable.
@@TheMasterCheese that's like saying "If the Nazis had Jet fighters and they were so good, why didn't they mass produce them?"
Two reasons: time and resources.
The Maw was a research installation, not a military base or factory planet. The Sun Crusher, while a completed vessel, was little more than a prototype, a test model for future development. Most of the bases' resources had been devoted to building the Death Star and it's associated technologies, as well as other superweapons like the Galaxy Gun (shoots planet-killing hyperspace missiles) and the World Devastator (sucks up materials from a planets surface and turns them into weapons: Rebels actually featured one in season 4, as a "resource collector")
The Sun Crusher was, frankly, too new to be anything close to be ready for mass production. The chemical formula for the Quantum armor, which only existed in limited quantities, was lost with the Scientists.

Soon as I saw the outline 😂
How does the hyperspace ram break the lore? I’ve always hear that complaint but nobody ever elaborates
The armor could be explained. (still its impossible to be made) a diamond level material with a material density which is up to 100x of a diamond. Still, how did they shape the armor in the frst place?
And the streamline shape supports it's ramming abilities
.
Ethan Hatcher
Well

Hmm, sounds good, but it will take a lot of missiles (warhead cannt explode/is none)

Yep, it's the sun crusher.
Yes Sherlock
Because the Sun Crusher wasn't op enough I guess

Maybe the reason why we don't see the quantum diamond armour stuff again after the sun crusher is because it's really expensive and the even the empire could only afford to put it on a ship of star fighter size.
Well it's technically not dumb it's a really good and practical weapon for the Star Wars universe but for us it's ridiculous
@@donutdude393 I am Iron man!

Smaller package with a more devastating payload. That's the natural evolution, not just keep getting bigger requiring more personnel.
Nah, too big. Take an A-Wing and wrap it in the Sun Crusher's armor. Don't forget to armor over the cockpit.
Palatines Nostril was the logical conclusion of imperial superweapons
What the Empire did was like going from the bow and arrow to a bloody *howitzer.* It makes no sense!

great video as always, though there is another vehicle that uses quantum-crystalline armor, the Fast Hand submersible mining environment from the Young Jedi Knights: Shadow Academy book. since the size of Corusca gems is lager the further down you go, and considering a crystal large enough for a lightsaber could buy you an entire Coruscate city block, the expenditure might be worth it here, but might otherwise be too costly for any sort of mass production.

It’s been years since I read any of the Jedi Academy books. I actually got to meet Kevin J Anderson as a kid and he autographed my copies of his books. I have to wonder what he thinks of Star Killer Base in Force Awakens, lol.
Not only this weapon is dumb is also broken ABSOLUTELY AND EXTREMELY BROKEN
When you remaster your old atuff add lots of rocks and a few Gungans
by the by, ive also been wondering about the most effective and least suicidal way to use a sun crusher.. best way i can come up with thus far is to sacrifice an allied interdictor to prevent the enemy fleet from following suit and escaping themselves after i personally escape the blast radius.
In response to the thumbnail...heeey I like how OP the SunCrusher is....it's like playing GTA with all the cheats activated
