This technique is much easier than before, but grindier. I also do like the fact that the Judge ability is smoother this time and your pokemon's IV are shown on the "Summary" screen.
Tip: If you want the specific candy for the pokemon you want, get your combo multiplier up, then focus on the big ones (those with a red glow around them) and get an "Excellent" catch to increase your chance of getting the specific candy. It makes the grind less tedious.

I have but one little problem with this method. It's really hard to get a streak of 100+ catch of the same Pokemon with the ones that have lower rates of spawning. I actually suggest you keep the lesser candies (mighty, smart, tough etc) and use those on rarer Pokemon, just saiyan.

    3 problems with this strategy.
    1. You're showcasing based on having a combo chain that's way up there, nearly 200. I'm pretty sure you start maxing your bonuses after 31 isn't it? Not sure if that's just the rare bonus or not, I could be wrong. Either way, if you're going to showcase a strategy this way, show the road to getting it as well. Show what you get while getting the chain, and showcase exactly when the chain starts giving you your payoffs. It's easy to tell people it works after you've already put hours into the work, but don't neglect to show the work as well - it comes off misleading when you make it look easier than it is.
    2. You're showcasing an easier Pokémon, like Growlithe. Chaining Pokémon that are more common is easier to do, but what about the more rare types, or even Legendary types. It's not easy to chain a Rare type, as it could take hours before you get a chain started of some Pokémon, and it's nearly impossible to chain for something like say.. Articuno or the other 2 birds. And forget chaining Mew or Mewtwo because you only get one, so no species candy there unless you have a Pokéball Plus to walk them around in.
    3. I wouldn't call it self sustaining to sell your candies. A stack of 999 candy only sells for 9990 Pokébucks, which may take 20 or so catches AFTER the chain, but then you think about how much it takes to start the chain to begin with. With rarer or more powerful species, that's easier said than done, and can take a lot of Ultraballs, let alone Pokéballs for some of those chains. 1 Ultra costs 500 Pokébucks. Selling 1 stack that takes 20 catches to do (by your explanation) would get me about 19 balls. You could argue that if you account for all 3 sizes of candy you'd triple, but again that's AFTER you get the chain even started, and assuming you catch the chosen species on the first 1 or 2 throws.
This method may be useful for more common species, but don't expect it to work for all of the Pokémon.
    Edit:
After playing around with this strategy I can confirm that selling your candies is NOT a good strategy, especially after chaining Pokémon that require you to catch with better balls, or require multiple balls to catch sometimes, like Lickitung, Chansey or Porygon (if you have the patience to even combo them). Selling the candy does not make up for your losses in balls, and especially not losses in berries if you need to use them. It DOES work with species that are easier to chain with 1 throw catches like early Pokémon (Growlithe, Oddish, Pidgey, Pikachu etc) and sometimes works with SOME mid-tier catches (like Ponyta, Pidgeotto, or Doduo), but does not work with Rare or harder catches, (Rhyhorn/Rhydon, Onix, Jynx, Electabuzz, etc).
MY Suggestion would be to do chaining for Candy farming on weaker targets and not selling your candy, but SAVING your candy for Pokémon that have a harder time getting chains or candy for, or say your legendaries. There are guides out there now that tell you the optimum Pokémon to chain for which candy types. Yea it takes a lot of work and time to farm each individual candy type but... Doesn't it also take a LOT of time to farm species candy? You still have to farm a lot, and the species candy only works for one species... While the other candies work for ALL species.
If you want to farm species candy, then do so, but save your stat candies for your hard-to-chain Pokémon. If you're hurtin' for Pokébucks just do Elite Four or Gym Leader Rematches. You net a ton of money from the Gym Leader Rematches every day, plus some from Green Rematch and the Elite Four Rematches are spammable.
Edit 2: I played some more still determined to try to find a use for this strategy. I can still confirm that the selling candies bit doesn’t help at all. But by using your candies on teams of Pokémon as you farm, it actually builds the single stat quite quickly. After about 50-70 chain I was able to max out the stat of one Pokémon and after 100+ I was getting tons of candy in a small amount of time.
Overall I maxed a whole team of 6 Pokémon health stat in less than an hour chaining Grimer in Cinnabar mansion. That’s not including that I got about 100 species specific Grimer candy in that time as well to use on Muk. So as said before the species candy farming works well, but the stat candies are better used than sold.
As a good note after about 50-70 chain you start getting a boost to catch results on the species you chain. This eventually makes it easier to catch with even a lesser ball.
This method of candy farming while training at the same time works pretty well for training a whole team in a short amount of time in single stats. It’ll still take you a few hours, but if your ideal team consists of a few harder to catch Pokémon then it’ll be well worth grinding for the extra candies along side whatever species candy you decided to farm for.
I do wanna thank PDWinnall for the idea in the video because it is what inspired me to try something different. While the video concept wasn’t the exact strategy I chose, farming species candy for easier Pokémon does help me train up to 12 Pokémon at one time! I picked 6 species with different candy drops and farmed them for their species candy while using the stat candy on harder Pokémon like my Kangaskhan. So I raised 6 easy catch Pokémon wth species candy and 6 harder ones with stat candy all at the same time.

Thanks for the explanation. How does this work for, let's say, mewtwo? I gotta farm non-specific pokémon candy in order to feed him and need to feed him a lot right?

    • @rosebrigade
      @rosebrigade 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@devilsdante Right. You will need to feed a lot of non-species specific candy to Mewtwo, because the only way to get Mewtwo candy is from the small chance you might get some on the first time you catch him, OR taking him for a stroll in the Pokéball plus.
There are some easy to catch Pokémon that you can chain for the candies though. Pokémon like Geodude can give Tough Candies, and Jigglypuff can give Health Candies. There's a lot of Candy Guides online to tell what drops them and what are the easiest to catch, but if you know which Pokémon drops which candy you can choose some yourself. If any of them are species you already want to train, the Species candy are bonus~
      Edit:
Here's a guide that tells how much candy is needed exactly, and what candies come from which Pokémon. It'll save you time trying to figure out which ones drop which.

Don't forget that you also get species-specify candy if you have a Pokeball Plus and go walking with your Pokemon. Even more so, if you hook it up to Pokemon Go, and use it to catch and spin. Worked on the Mew, so pretty sure it works on Legendaries as well.

The HP Value on your Growlithe after the 200 species candy was higher than all the other values. Is that because you used the Health candy on that stat and no other candies? For everyone saying to save candies for legendary Pokémon, you can get Pokémon specific candy for legendarys if you have a pokeball plus. Take that Pokémon on a stroll and when it’s returned, so long as you have about 10,000 steps or so, you’ll get anywhere from 3-6 candies for that Pokémon you just walked when you return it to the game plus you also get candies for whatever Pokémon you walked just before that one.
For example, the other day I walked my dugtrio, when I returned her to the game I got about 4 digglet candies and 3 spearow candies since spearow was the Pokémon I had walked the day before (I walk 1 to 2 Pokémon a day, I take them to work with me or when I walk my dog then change it out when I get home.)
I’ve gotten multiple mew candies as well by doing this. So it’s not that hard to get candies for legendary and mythical Pokémon.

i have a 311 combo chain vulpix ... and i spammed all the quick candies and vulpix candy on my vulpix. and her stats broke the screen when evolved into ninetails. The limit is over the graph limits, the basic ember can even half the enemy hp even if they are resistant to fire damage.
none of the elite 4 + the champion can do 1/4 the damage to my ninetails at level 65. its literally just a sweep through the game. lol

They should patch it improving the candy giving to pokemon.
It should be like buying stuff. You select how many you want and they calculate the amount of money. They autolimit the maximum according to total money you have.
Likewise, you should indicate how many points you want to increase in a stat when using a stat candy, limited by the amount candies you have, and the game would calculate and give all to the pokemon.
