Today we are investigating what happens if you combo catch 31 of the legendary bird trio Articuno, Zapdos or Moltres in Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu! and Let's Go Eevee! Legendary Pokémon can spawn very VERY rarely in the wild in these games, and I wondered if you could make legendary Pokémon spawn more commonly by chaining together 31 catches of one of them, made possible by a LOT of patience, OR by transferring from Pokémon Go! WE ALSO FIND A SHINY! Here's what we discovered!

It’s because any Pokémon in a combo effects ALL POKÉMON, not just the combo one

Y’all think it’s for a combo? The most likely reason is he was catching a ton of them to try to get a shiny Alolan rattata... clearly he knows you only need a 31 combo so why would he catch millions of rattata for a wild shiny

I threw 100+ ultra balls at a mewtwo and 50 great balls so for the meme I threw a poke ball and it worked

Shocked?? My city did 65+ raids on Articuno / Zapdos / Moltres day. It wasn't hard to get even 40+ of them.

@@perplexingparadigm not sure if you have played this game, but getting shinies is pretty easy , so it doesn't really make sense to catch a shiny you already have(if that breaks your combo)

Ive caught 2 extra moltres and 1 is level 4 and it makes me chuckle everytime i see ember and tackle on it

As you can see the flock of wild Moltres are busy relaxing in their natural habitat the Go Park.
Though they are extremely rare they have been seen on rare occasions to assemble a flock of up to 31.
When a flock of 31 Moltres appear the sky is lit brightly by a light like that of volcanic lava.
One such flock appeared in Sinnoh once searing the ground in a rose colored inferno.
Those who see the flock are bestowed a member of the flock as a sign of friendship.

The fact that this game seems to basically allow you to catch every single Original 151 and Meltan as well, is beyond impressive and really cool and convenient.

I had a Combo of 31 Pidgey and went over to Route 24 in hopes to get a shiny Pidgey and then appears a wild shiny Articuno. I was so happy to get a shiny Articuno.

Have you caught the static Moltres in Let’s go? They don’t appear in the wild at all until that happens
in the catch combo screen it said he had caught 32 Moltres meaning he had already caught one before
this is interesting......I had basically the same exact experience, albeit with different mons, under exact same circumstances, same way, same place...….different decision as the shiny that did appear (not the one I was hunting for) was a charizard

Ive been doing a lot of shiny hunting recently using a catch combo on Weedle. Ive encountered Articuno twice and Moltres and Zapdos each once in the wild while only encountering two shiny pokemon. Based on my experiences so far, I think the legendaries are less rare than shinies.
I was shiny hunting a few times too and i have literally never seen a legendary bird in the wild

The fact that other shiny Pokemon can show up while doing a combo chain of another Pokemon is kind of common knowledge. It increases the chance for all Pokemon not just the one you are chaining. This is coming from the guy who found a shiny Pidgey, Pidgeotto and 2 shiny Abras while trying to hunt a completely different Pokemon.

I was trying to get a shiny Ponyta and I left 3 shiny Chanseys so I wouldn't lose my combo, a 31 combo definitely boosts the chance of all shiny chances.
I’d be interested to see if a 31 catch combo affects the odds of finding a shiny legendary where they just normally spawn by soft resetting. Like if you could Combo 31 mewtwo and then go to cerulean cave and soft reset for a shiny mewtwo, would that increase the chance that you find a shiny? That would be pretty cool if you could abuse that. You could technically abuse that to get a 6 perfect iv legendary too I suppose

the spearow hurts even more now when we learned catch combos only affect the next spawn and not overall shiny chance for all spawns...atleast shiny spearow is probably one of the easiest shinies to get in tjis game i guess

Deadboy Draco me too even when they gave me one from the Silph Co , I didn’t sell it cuz I didn’t think I could get a second one
Deadboy Draco saw them a whole bunch last night because I was trying to get a couple of shiny Vulpix. I alternated between the east and west side of saffron city. Porygon appears on the west side when you have a high chain going and Chansey on the east side.
It's a special spawn. I wouldn't say it's rare, but it's super hard to find unless you have a good catch combo.
Its his catch combo. When you have a high combo of any pokemon, special spawns like Porygon, Kanto Starters, Snorlax, Hitmons, Dragonite and Lapras will pretty much be gaurenteed. Because of his Moltres chain and his lure, he's basically always gonna find Dragonite, Charizard and Porygon hanging out on Route 7. Only limit is that only one of each can be up at a time.

While watching this video I found a full odds shiny graveler in cerulean cave my catch combo on chansey literally just broke and then I found the shiny graveler so thank you pdwindall even if this video is really old
I have 70 hours of gameplay in the Eevee version and have only ever seen 3 wild Moltres (non-shiny), while I was shiny hunting (so I had catch combos). And it was in three different spots. Ironically I've never run into the other birds in the wild!

The problem is that it might actually improve the chances but if the base is like 1/8000 and having the combo makes it 1/5000 it would still be extremely rare! Unless you actually look at the game code it’s impossible to know for sure because it’s possible that it does improve but because it’s already so rare it’s still going to be super rare even after the combo! Even improving it by 70% will still make it super rare if the base chance is really really low!

So, when I catch combo a Pikachu at Viridian Forest, is it not appearing more frequently because I focused on Pikachu, alone? It would spawn just as frequently if I chose to focus Pidgey, instead? I have the same experience when I catch combo Eevee, but then again, I've not gone there to shiny hunt any other pokémon, so I never noticed.
