Nice install you for sure do way better videos than I do. Also let me know when you want to dive into the advanced tuning software I am fixing to do a whole series on tuning software.
The distributors are different between a 302 and a Windsor. There are also two different Windsors - the 9.2 deck, and the 9.5 deck. The 9.5 deck version is much more popular. It has more to do with the deck height than anything else (the Windsor is taller than the 302). Don't get confused by fact that the 302 is also in the Windsor family. It's all about deck height. Also confusing, there are two possible firing orders you can use on both the 302 and the Windsor - 15426378 (usually flat tappet cams), or 13726578 (usually roller cams). To find TDC, I just put a blue shop towel in the #1 plug hole, and turn the motor by hand until it pops out, and then finesse it to TDC on the balancer.
Did you have to phase your rotor in the distributor? The directions have a whole page on how important it is and you have to buy an adjustable rotor so you could phase it properly but just curious on how vital it is
If you line the paddle up with the pick up then wouldn’t it change that alignment on those when you turn the distributor to phase the rotor? Having big issues with the paddle and pickup lining up but not the rotor to tower is why I ask.
My question is, i hear a lot of people talking about how your typical GM style HEI distributor will have too noisey of a signal to run this kit.. but im wondering if not, seeing it in that 302, it seemed to run and rev just fine! Does it progressevly run bad if it gets warm such as a resisted wire like youd find in a old caddilac or something like it? Id like to just run a normal HEI with the kit to save a little money and just wanted to know if id screw myself by even attempting it.
We only ran the HEI for about 20 minutes. We already had all the other parts on hand to install in the video series. I'd recommend reaching out to tech support with the question. They were really helpful. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Initially we brought it down to 130. Then found the car really didn’t like the mild cam setting, even though the cam is pretty aggressive. On the “stock” setting the normal fuel prime has been fine.
@@DrivingForwardBuilds thanks man, ima give it a try, for some reason, I’m having a hard time starting it after it’s been running for a while, but runs great once it’s on
Quick question on these videos but I’m trying to figure out if this will work on my transmission will it work if the transmission is already computer controlled from what was stock or will it change it at all just wondering if this will work
Yeah, the fuel pump is pretty loud. We mounted it to the frame under the rear seat and even with the rubber isolator the sound travels. If we were to do it again we would go with the Edlebrock setup. amzn.to/458ABso This being a sump would isolate the sound a lot more and help with starvation from our old tank not being baffled.
i have contacted Aces about the loud noise, they want video of it running and the noise, mine seems to run good but only drove a few times. the Excelleration is great but that loud pump is awful! @@DrivingForwardBuilds
@@mrdaniel2808 We were a little surprised at how loud the pump was. From what we've found that's not uncommon with exterior (non-sump) pumps though. Hope they help you out or give you some direction and your car continues to run great.
Does anyone know why i need do give my royal flush a little bit of throttle to start up, and why it bogs down when i get on full throttle ? Also its shooting when i let go of the gas
Well, that's become a loaded question. My friend has been driving the car trying to get it to learn and keeps running into random problems. It doesn't seem to be mechanical because the issues are random. We're not sure if the ECU/software is the culprit. Waiting to hear from Aces on the next step. My buddy is talking about going back to carburetion which tells me he's not happy right now.
@@brentbeiler7051- Doesn't matter how long it takes. If it's part of their efi system, and it's required, it should already be done for you. There's not a single thing wrong with making it easier to install.
I think they do it so it’s strictly drop in and you don’t have to worry about programming timing/ timing tables, just set initial timing and go. It’s optional to lock it and use the ecu for timing advance
@@kevinwilliams1205 yes, exactly, it is mentioned in the install doc for the Deuces Wild 2bbl. You can run that system with a stock dizzy, but you disable the ecu timing control tat way and just signal the ecu through the tach wire. They recommend to set timing with a light as normal with the stock config dizzy, get it running and basic tuned, then lock out theirs and install/enable ecu timing.
Why does an EFI company send out a distributor with Springs And weights in it when none of their ignition systems use centrifurical timing? Doesn't make any sense to me.
Thanks man I was having a lot of trouble with aces instructions and customer support line! I’m so glad you made these videos!
Glad I could help! Best of luck.
Just wanted to let you know that this video has helped me drastically with my install!
Thats great to hear :-) Hope you enjoy the heck out of it!

Once it was installed I phased the rotor to the pickup by rotating the housing. Right around 18:00 I showed how I did that.
If you line the paddle up with the pick up then wouldn’t it change that alignment on those when you turn the distributor to phase the rotor? Having big issues with the paddle and pickup lining up but not the rotor to tower is why I ask.
Hi my question is on the new set up did you ground the black wire that was going to the coil it on shows the red wire an that’s where I’m stuck at
Gosh, I don't remember honestly. I would double-check if I still had the car, but it was sold.

This does require a return line.
I'll pop out a pick! Nice!

If the trans is separately controlled there shouldn’t be a problem. This ecu doesn’t have trans control as an option.

Sometimes you gotta go to that next level. Half the time my glasses are lost on the top of my head. :-)
but do I really need this distributor or can I use any ebay one?
You should be able to use any distributor. We had it running off the old cheap HEI to start.

This seems like a fueling issue. Too little fuel?

@@agentwithabeard ive got my regulator set to 2 1/2 psi in the return line

If the ACES system requires a locked out distributor, and their distributor doesn't already come locked out, then they need to fix that.
I thought it was a little weird to have to do the lockout.
It takes 10 minutes relax.

I thought the same thing. The only reason I can see is if someone wanted the distributor for their carb setup.
You should probably mention that if the engine has a roller cam you will need a melonized gear !
That's a good point.
Is replacement gears easy to find? Nothing weird about the size of shaft ect?
