However, we compare them on both house and sport patterns, and dive into the Specto data to back it up! You might be surprised by the results!

    NU blue layout definitely matters. PSO drilled the wrong pap for mine and it didn't move an inch while others throwing it were able to hook the entire lane. Put the correct pap and layout on it, and it moved miles.

      This. I drilled my NU explicitly told to be more aggressive and i can send it 40 boards if i slow down and overly hook it

      Thanks for watching! Yes, layout and having your PAP is always important. We apologize for insinuating anything differently. Derek more specifically meant that in his opinion on a sport pattern, there isn’t a layout that can make the NU blue react like the urethane balls.

    Love the video. But now I think it will come down to the Black Pearl Hammer 78U and the IQ Tour 78U for the king of the lanes on the pro tour! I also think to Black Pearl Hammer will come out ahead of the IQ Tour 78U for most wins/tv show appearances!

    Great comparrison... I am a senior recreational bowler low rev and low speed 13mph... I am looking for a urethane or urethane like piece that will help me on burned up lanes when my other balls take off. It is so dry that my Mix ball is hooking like a champ! Recommendations? I am thinking that a nu blue hammer polished might be the best of situations... also considering a pitch black

    Great video. Just wondering what was the surfaces on all four balls?
    I’ve heard in other reviews that the NU Blue isn’t that close, but changing the surface from 1000 to 500 brings it a lot closer. And the !Q Tour U78 being at 500, would be interesting to see that comparison.

    I've said this on a couple of other videos and reviews as well. I'm wondering if the Purple Hammer is the wrong ball to compare it to; in particular, the Purple Hammer made by Brunswick. It was designed to be a bit smoother and more front to back than the Purple Hammer made by Ebonite (2016-2017), which was more side to side. It would be great to see the NU Blue Hammer compared to the Hopkinsville Purple Hammer, as that would be a better comparison, as the NU Blue Hammer is more side to side than the Brunswick/Reynosa-poured Purple Hammer. So the question everyone has to ask, but are not thinking to ask, is: WHICH PURPLE HAMMER IS THE NU BLUE HAMMER MARKETED TO BE CLOSE TO?
    Most think the Brunswick poured Purple Hammer.. but what if it isn't, and instead is more like the Ebonite poured Purple Hammer?

      Thanks for watching! Yes, we mention that at the end of the video. However, Hammer has specifically marketed it as something very close to the purple hammer, which is urethane. When you combine that with the the “Not Urethane” name you could argue their message is that the “not urethane” is more technical than implicit in the performance. When hammer and all other TH-camrs are comparing it next to the purple hammer, we believe it should be included in the debate from a performance stand point.

    Based on those Pitch Black vs Purple Hammer numbers I'd say the best "not purple hammer urethane" is the pitch black, lmao.

    How would you list this balls from strong to low.

    • @VirtueBowlingSupply
      @VirtueBowlingSupply  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We define strong as hooking earlier and total amount of shape.
      With this definition in mind, I would say, the strongest are the purple hammer and Nu Blue and weaker ones the Pitch Black and IQ78.
      Which ones would be stronger between each ball would vary on the bowler’s style and oil conditions.

    So I’m deciding to get another ball. I just got back into bowling and just play a lot of house oil (don’t play in a league or competitively yet) I currently have the black widow 2.0 and when I run into dry lanes I have a problem hitting the right side of the pocket because my black widow hooks so much on dry lanes. Which ball do you think would best suit me? I also bowl two hands and create a decent amount of revs.

    Here's another question to answer: Who said that the PBA is the most elite level? People tend to forget that there is the JPBA, KPBA, EPL, WTBA, and other international competitions that are in essence above the PBA, especially the WTBA. Only the PBA has banned the Purple Hammer, but that doesn't mean that it is banned worldwide, because there are other higher elite competitions that do not have it banned at all. We in the US need to get out of our general assumptions that the PBA is the be all/end all, because it is not.

    • @VirtueBowlingSupply
      @VirtueBowlingSupply  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      To be fair, we probably don’t have the data or experience to completely speak to this, but generally speaking, as far as we know, the top players from those other tours you mentioned have made attempts at the PBA tour as well. Our educated guess is that if you polled all the top players across all those organizations, they would agree that the PBA is still where the best players in the world reside and is the most difficult place to win. We have a few national tour customers (Cooley, Butturff and Blanchard) that have all expressed this to us.

    • @VirtueBowlingSupply
      @VirtueBowlingSupply  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We would still conclude that many of those other organizations you mentioned are still part of the elite level.

    • @deonkirk7357
      @deonkirk7357 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@VirtueBowlingSupply to be fair Jason Belmonte, and Stu Williams have said the PBA tour is the most difficult they've ever bowled world wide due to the skill of the competitors..I also believe Shota may have said something similar. The PBA isn't the only rodeo in town but many world wide do consider it the toughest of all tours

    • @wabbit1699
      @wabbit1699 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The PBA is the most elite bowling in the world, and it really isn't close. You can't even bring Japan into the conversation, because their dominant player, Shota Kawazoe, has struggled mightily on the US tour and only made one TV show.
      Also, look at where the top international bowlers compete throughout the year, and it's the PBA. Belmo, Dom, Jesper, Stu, Martin Larsen, the list goes on.

    • @athlonen
      @athlonen 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@wabbit1699 By that comparison, Tim Mack was the best international player in the world; when he joined the PBA, his highest finish was 7th in the short time he was on the tour. And also, those international players came from the very competitions I mentioned; all but Belmonte came from the EPL, all of them competed at the QubicaAMF World Cup, and all of them bowled the Larsens and Japan Cup, which is - wait for it - A JPBA TOURNAMENT.
      And if I remember correctly, a tournament in the WSOB actually didn't have a single US, European, or Australian bowler in its finals.. and if I also remember correctly, a pair of South Koreans bested them all, with Yong-Jin Gu winning.
      So please, let's not start on saying that the PBA is where it is at, because there is more out there than just the PBA.

    OK just started the video and feel the need to identify an error already. The new NU Hammer (Blue) is not a Urethane Ball. It was designed to replace Urethane and act similar to Urethane. With the new requirements in place for Urethane within the PBA this ball will be functional for much longer as it will not fall under the Urethane Category.
    Edit: 9:42- Looking at the numbers, while every bowler is different in their angles, the blue actually falls within the numbers for best impact angle which is 6 degrees based on studies for continuous strikes.
    So while the other angles and lines (how it looks) may be preferred, the NU actually gives the best impact angle for this bowler.

    • @VirtueBowlingSupply
      @VirtueBowlingSupply  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching, the feedback and input!
      We mention in the video that the Nu Blue is not urethane but that Hammers sole marketing intent is to say it’s like the purple hammer, which is why we felt it necessary to have it in the video.
      Our analysis was that impact angle on fresh sport shots isn’t the most important metric but instead speed loss in the front and middle part of the lane is. Normally this help creates more predictability on the more challenging conditions. If impact angle is high, but there isn’t a lot of room to miss, you can end up with strike or split ball reaction.
      Hope that helps! Thanks again for watching!
