This place is pretty well known in the area. I found it by doing a search for interesting hikes in southern Utah

I live in St. George Utah, this is one of the seemingly hundreds of hiking trails in and around it. When the family gets together we plan to hike a different trail each time.

While you are in Utah you should check out the lava tubes near Fillmore, Utah.
You should check out the website 'atlas obscura'. It shows you places that might be lesser known, although it still has a lot that's popular as well. It's worth checking when you get to a town.
You need a geologist companion to take with you on all these trips! One can never know enough geologists and engineers! Hahaha!

Neat place. The reason they say it looks like the inside of the bly of the dragon, is because of the ridges of the walls. They resemble ribs of an animal.

Wow, all the sandstone I've been around seems to be of a harder variety than this! That tunnel probably hasn't been there very long, but from what I've read, those Western flash floods are a force to be reckoned with! Around here, it takes more than a hundred years to weather anything made of sandstone. (I suddenly remembered the old margarine commercial's tag line: "It's not _nice_ to fool with Mother Nature!") what a cool place to visit and much safer than some of those caverns that you visit.
I love this part of the country. It's like you are on another planet. If you want to enjoy the more popular sites check them out on the more off-season times. I went through arches and explored off the trails and had a wonderful time.

That's so cool!!! I wish when we had visited Utah so many years ago we had known about places like this! It probably would have been a better choice than Timpanogus (sp?) Cave. That made me discover claustrophobia I didn't know I had!

I don't really mind that type of "graffiti" because it's not spray painted, colored, overwhelming or vulgar.
Love the unique areas you have shared. Totally understand the crowds at the National Parks. Big turnoff for us. The bus loads of foreigners don’t help either.

It's weird that there doesn't seem to be any history on this tunnel. I know it's just a drainage tunnel, but still you would think there would be something on it.
I'd call it the gullet of the dragon or esophagus of the dragon. lol
