Fun fact about the carousel at storyland, (I work there in the entrance building) it is one of the only two clockwise spinning carousels in the world.

He does not lie. Roar-O-Saurus is an airtime machine--it's the one thrill ride with grownup appeal in the park, though I saw a lot of young kids riding it too.
Otherwise, this is a great park for families with little kids--it's nice that nearly all of the rides are family rides that parents can share with their children. I kind of like Polar Coaster's use of the terrain, though it's so tame that my daughter rates it as less thrilling than the Zamperla Dragon at Canobie.

This is a fabulous park, I can't praise it enough.
My kids wanted us to go through environments in the Mother Goose area with them-- upstairs into the three bears' bedroom, etc.
When we got to the Old Woman's Shoe, I didn't realize that my husband quickly looked the whole thing over and wisely hung back....and when I came out of the little door in the boot's toe, crawling on my hands and knees, he was waiting with a smile on his face to snap a photo, lol.

That tea cup ride is descended from larger versions which were popular back in the 1920s and 30's .called" cuddle up". Some larger models had four disks that appeared to be wider. There no examples anywhere . Not sure whe , maybe a parts issue . They were loud but fun. Each cup (without saucer) traveled from one disk to the other giving the allusion of collision !

    • @-K_J-

...The Polar Coaster is one of the very few roller coasters built by Hopkins, a company that mostly makes flumes and water rides. It seems to have been a replacement for an earlier ride called the Iceberg Coaster, with a similar theme. Very few pictures of it seem to exist, but those that do show sort of an alarming backyard-coaster appearance.

And I was aware of the weird factor this park had even when I was little. Some of the shows and animatronics were extremely disturbing to kids. But the rides and play areas were so fun! The tree house was so neat, there's actually a hole in the tree where you can look in and see a projection of a fairy in their home! And that music from Dr. Geyser's is still the same. That tune wouldn't leave your head for days! Thanks for doing this!

Honestly, I’m 30 and I LOVE this damn park! Have been to this park a good 25 times in my life lol... since I was about 2! My first “big” coaster ever was actually the Polar Coaster at 12! I was scared shitless too- obviously I loved it and went over and over and over lol. My 2nd “big” coaster was at Six Flags New England... the rest is history. The ONLY coaster I haven’t done at Six Flags is Superman and that’s really just because I’m scared of the height lol... I do Mind Eraser, Batman is my fav, etc! I’ll go to Storyland anytime lmao!! Such a great “kid’s park” but also REALLY good for early teens as they do have more adult like family rides which keep it “none boring” :).

    • @wendyappleton3296

Matt McIrvin They actually bought it more recently but it was a family owned park built by Bob & Ruth Morrell and run by them and then their son Stoney Morrell until he passed away about 10 years ago. It is a coincidence that it is now owned by a European company. It is originally based on a set of German dolls that Ruth bought and they are on display in the park. The Morrells did a lot for our community and schools and are sorely missed
