Great kit, I’ve just picked a Tamiya version up (starting modelling again at 61) it’s that old there’s no driver! Can’t grumble it will get me back in the swing. Wow, the world of model making has ventured in many ways since the Airfix kits I had hanging from my bedroom ceiling. I will buy the Eduard kit if it looks as though I’m making a decent enough job.
Just picked this kit up when was in the shop for a tenner jeez can't complain! Eduard PE set next then glad I saw this definitely getting the PE set for it now! Cheers looks so cool lol
Hi glad to find your video. just been given The PINK ONE for my 76th. Birthday, just what I was looking for,the video of cause. got the Photo Etch parts just started the kit after spending nearly 3 months building the Tamiya 1/35 scale Churchill tank Another great kit with plenty of figures made a reasonable diorama. I will post my progress.
Hi Peter, thanks for the comment. Hope you had a good birthday - surely any birthday you get a kit for is a good one! ;-) I'm really pleased I got the photo-etch kit for the Pinkie, a few fiddly parts and made it take a lot longer than it would have been to do it straight from the box - but personally I think it's worth the additional work. Let me know how you get on, and feel free to comment with a question.
@@RobsModels Pinkie progressing well. Your Video is great for details of the Photo Etch parts . One question how did you cut put the thick plastic radiator part to replace with photo etch? I gave up after cutting my finger with a blade I most possible will glue the photo etch over the plastic I will post a picture soon to show my progress.
@@peterdonovan5194 Great to hear it's going well and that my video is helping. Regarding the front grill, I criss-crossed over it many times with a scalpel blade with enough pressure to cut through the grill part, but not enough to cut right the way through. I then tried to chisel the little 'blocks' of radiator grill off. Finally managed to carefully smooth it off with a sanding stick. Once you start managing to get it off it's easier as you can get the blade in at a flatter angle. Mine ended up far from perfect, managed to get it flat enough that the photo-etch grill would lay flat over it. Actually, if you look at the picture at 28 seconds you'll see that I also accidentally sanded part of the front wing next to the grill! Good luck and look forward to seeing your results!
Hi Progressing well in 3 parts at the moment had a bit of problem with the wheels when spraying Used masking fluid to put on drums . OOphs1 it went into the hubs and locked them No problem used soapy water and CAREFULLY released them a touch of paint and all ok. Would fellow builders put them on last?
I think I waited until near the end before putting the wheels on, that way they would all get weathered at the same time as the chassis to tie it all together. I have a running battle with masking fluid - I get the theory but it never quite seems to work for me!
Great model. I especially like your presentation of this Land Rover in this pink colour. Could you elaborate about the mix of the Tamiya paints you used?
Unfortunately it was a few years since I built this kit so can't remember the exact details. However, the main base for the paint was Tamiya X-17 Pink, but as this is a bit bright I would have used a little of something like Tamiya X-57 Buff to tone it down a little. Also, bear in mind the brightness of the paint will be taken down a little when weathering is added. Even if they were painted bright pink when new, after a bit of time in the desert they would soon get dulled. They didn't stay "factory fresh" for very long! ;-) The thing to bear in mind is that they were pink, but not as pink as some think. Have a search for images on Google - a tweak the mix to what you think looks right to your eye.
Unfortunately can’t remember the ratios, it was a case of putting in blobs of each until it looked right! One thing I did was to do it lighter so that I could darken it with weathering afterwards.

@@RobsModels Hi Rob , Thanks for that info . I have taken a JPG image of my progress, but not sure how to upload it.

Hi Rob great video, building the same model myself, saw the paint you used just wonding if you remember the formula,👍👍👍

Thanks mate ,bought colours today ,should be interesting 👍👍👍
Good luck! I searched for a few pictures online to see the colour and they all looked different!
Found that to ! Which makes it a lot easier, ,shes in 3 main parts right now, great little build and for the pink
Hi Marc, how are you getting on with the Pinkie build?
