    Looks great Andy , that's a typical field fabrication and with the added stowage it absolutely enhances the look of the Stug .Brilliant job 👍

    Awesome! You integrated the rack and the stowage seamlessly. I love the attention to detail with the bolts and welds, I can’t wait to see the finished product!

    Andy, it looks great, and your skills are evident, but I have to point out my pet peeve. Every military (I'm a veteran) crate includes stenciled markings describing its contents. Ammo caliber and number of rounds, food type, equipment nomenclature, etc. Else the troops wouldn't know what they had. Recall the scene from Indiana Jones, of the military warehouse in which the Arc of the Covenant was eventually stashed. I use dry transfers to add that interesting and eye-catching detail; on my kits. in 1/35 it doesn't even need to be legible. in 1/16, it may need to be...

    Ah, the infamous StuG III Pickup truck. Great work, gives me ideas for the pair I bought from you. Even though I have never darkened the door of your shop, I have got a lot more out of dealing with you as far as tips and tricks for the completed model. Never disappointed with the service or after care.

    Awesome work. The welding and bolt heads on the stowage rack just knocks it out of the park. This is crying out for a couple of figures and a drum magazine on the MG. Stu NZ

    Really nice addition to the Stug especially bolts and welds. Just little nitpick: you mentioned that this rack will be the most weathered part. Sure, but more from inside than outside. You well weathered the outside, but there are very few scratches inside while in reality the inside will be the most scratched from all of those stored items bumbing to it all the time during travels.

    I made a rack for my 1/16 RC Panzer III the exact same way ... unfortunately it was ripped off on the first drive in the'wilderness'. I should've made it out of more sturdy materials for RC use, but this is great for a static model. It looks awesome!

    Excellent job Andy! Honestly, after watching the end of your last video showing off the Value Gear products, I was concerned you would transform the StuG into some sort of hobo mobile. You know the unfortunate souls you see mumbling down the street pushing a shopping cart of their possessions with them. I think you used just enough gear to display a unit out for a very long deployment (vs. a permanent move out to the countryside, LOL!)

    • @DavidSmith-ss1cg
      @DavidSmith-ss1cg 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I saw that video, I noticed that some of the bundles had soldier's personal field gear and weapons. The Germans would sometimes have their tanks looking like the"Bavarian Hillbillies," but usually only one bundle of personal gear would be open at a time. In this example, there's stick-grenades in some of the bundles that are exposed - one near the rear of the tank and another next to the Commander's hatch; and these are a safety concern, as they could go BOOM by accident or a sneaky enemy.
      But the rack is a good idea, and Andy has executed the build and the installation quickly and expertly. The only fault I can see is that if the Germans went to the trouble to make a rack this nice, they would've loaded up a bunch of jerry-cans, and not wasted that carrying capacity.

    Nice video Andy, love it, this stuff rack is just amazing and adds so much to this already beautiful kit (the Conti marks on the wheel rubbers...). One pair of suggs: 1) elaborate more on the sources/pics/documents you use to keep historically accurate and/or sho THE pic that inspired you and 2) this grenade next to the commander hatch is.. well I would not dare to have it there unsecured. :>) Keep the good work and, of course, the soundtrack.

    Hi Andy. Just got round to watching this video. Can't wait to get my Stug kit. I saw some colour film recently of The Battle of the Bulge. There was some film of a Stug with soldiers clinging onto it, driving down a road. The Stug had a green camo net all over it. It would be cool to do a camo net for this model. Do you know if there is any company that does 1/167 scale diorama accessories such as camo nets?

  • @madtony2531

    Thanks for the video Andy. Great work. Can somebody please answer a question though that's been bugging me for over twenty years. Why is there so much interest in the WW2 German military and figures. The market is absolutely flooded with them. More Tigers and Panzer 4's than ever. Personally I would like to see some good 1/35 British figures on the beaches during the Dunkirk evacuation and the D-Day landings, but can I find them ? No.

    Theres going to be some much needed corrections before I get anywhere near this stage. Some pretty major inaccuracies were pointed out to the manufacturer and most were ignored.....like the front armor plates being too thick and the plates behind the transmission cover are too long because of the from armor being inaccurate.
