So early Elton studio sounds different than earlier music he does in concert after 1987. Taupin/John was the Lennon/McCartney of their time. Check out "Levon" off that same album. Elton John is one of the greatest musical artists of all time, despite some of the stuff he released in the 80s. I remember playing the shit out of this song on a portable cassette deck back in the summer of 1974 with my cousins when I was vacationing in Italy.
