When Christine left the band she sold all of her pianos at auction and retired to the countryside. Years later she returned to the band and Stevie told her that she was the one who bought them and she had been storing them all of these years. She gave the pianos back to Christine. That's friendship and sisterhood.

I think it's worth mentioning that her having the baby would not have affected Don Henley or the Eagles. This is the way it is for so many women, that the consequences almost always fall on their shoulders, even when, as in Stevie's case, precautions were taken to avoid pregnancy.

    • @Anon54387

You guys never mention the effect on the baby that lost its life, and by the way that was Don Henley's kid as much as hers but he had zero say in whether that kid lived or died. If people don't want a kid don't engage in the activity that creates a kid, she selfishly flushed away that kid's life so she could continue touring with a band.

I knew a girl in high school.... very pretty... somewhat promiscuous but not more so than any of the rest of us. Twenty years later I worked with her husband and we got to be good friends. One day he told me that the night before his wife, this pretty girl I had known in high school, started bawling about how she was a terrible person because she had aborted her child. She said she couldn't enjoy any of the material things she now had because in the back of her mind she knew the cost of those things was her baby's life. She was scared to die because she thought God would not be pleased she had the abortion. She was afraid she was going to hell. Most of all, she couldn't stand the thought of being confronted by the child she aborted in the after-life. What would she say to this child?
Having a choice does not necessarily mean that the choice that we make is the RIGHT choice or the choice that we can live with. I readily admit that there are women out there who have had abortions who could not care less and not suffer any guilt. (Although the ones who have had multiple abortions... the ones who are using abortion as birth control.... are crazy. If you are having so much unprotected sex that you need to have 10 abortions you are also at a high risk of STD's. And if you need 10 abortions but are only having sex with one guy... you need to examine why you stay with that guy.)
Let's not promote abortions to vulnerable teenagers and young women whose entire life may be destroyed by the guilt and loss of having an abortion. Let's not pretend that she is worldly enough to fully understand the choice she is making and the lifelong ramifications it will have. Let's not pretend that it is even her choice all of the time. Lot's of teenagers are pressured into abortions. Let's recognize that there are parents out there who pressure their daughters into abortions because they think they will be stuck with the cost of raising that child. Let's sympathize with the young girl who desperately wanted that child and will suffer for the rest of her life because her own parents forced her to get an abortion. I've known women whose parents forced them to have an abortion. One girl in particular came to understand at an intellectual level as she got older that neither she nor her parents could afford the cost of a baby at that time, but in her heart she still wanted that baby and she hates her parents for taking it away from her. There is no greater form of child abuse than forcing your daughter to have an abortion when she wants to keep that baby. Yes, you may be protecting her ability to go to college and have a career someday, but you also may be damning her to lifelong feelings of guilt and loss. Depending on her innate feelings about God, you may me condemning her to a lifelong fear of God and the afterlife.

@@TheRealProfessorofBoogie But every story is different, i have a story for you, i am just not going to type it, there are so so many people who had kids, and they feel gilty their whole lives, because they could not raise their kids, or protect them, or feem them. I think an abortion is and should be a choice, not enforced- and no this this is not anti-life, people should be able to choose. From my work i know many many peeps whose brother or sister were abused by their sibling because the parents had like twelve kids, in the 90's and this happes still, in the USA, Europe, today, babies, toddlers and a few teenagers running in a house.......so many other cases with other scenarios....i am not anti- life, give your kid the best life, but, yes, i am pro choice, and an abortion should never be forced, and i know girls and ladies who have no guilt or regrets after an abortion, but i also have never met anyone who was forced to have one, i have met people who were glad with their choice, and i hope you will not deem them as less of value because their feelings are different of yours.

I've been a Stevie fan for 40 years. I'm so sad by this. She had the money, she had the resources, she had everything, and chose to wipe out her baby?!? Nine months out of the course of a career is nothing... giving a potential beautiful person with good looks and talent could of been everything. The boy or girl (who would be 40 at this point, and probably as talelented as he/she's parents) could of, may have, inspired her and her lyrics. Where'as Stevie's lyrics have always inspired me but this knowledge has tainted me, not because of what she did, but because she still thinks that was a good decision😬😪. It just makes me sad...

All mothers and fathers have to make huge sacrifices in order to raise a family. I understand your values and want the best for you but there was a baby that wanted you as a mother that you’ll never know because you terminated that life. Please do your best to understand those who don’t agree with your decision and see if there is any value in their hearts that you could benefit from as you’ll never know that child who also would have been immediately adopted as well. Roe v Wade was Unconstitutional. Regardless of your opinion on the topic, that is a fact. The Supreme Court did nothing wrong repealing it and did not infringe on your rights. "I thought Roe v Wade was an easy case in that the Supreme Court could have held that most extreme law Unconstitutional and put down its pen. Instead, the court wrote an opinion that made every abortion restriction in the country illegal, in one fell swoop. And that was not the way the court ordinarily operates" Ruth Bader Ginsburg. So, instead of 9 justices overstepping the Consitution, We the People have been empowered to vote on the issue. If you want it to be legal or illegal or have stipulations, convince your fellow citizens and vote.
Now for my personal opinion, abortion is gross. You're killing your own child because you don't want to live with the consequences of your actions. Sex makes babies and women have total control over their bodies when they engage in consensual sex. There is no contraception that works 100%. To me the moral truth is abortion is wrong and it doesn't empower women. It empowers men. Is it any wonder that the out of wedlock birth rate has skyrocketed in the last 50 years? Men can sleep with as many women as they want and don't have to suffer the consequences because women and society no longer have the power to socially pressure them. The things we tell girls today "Focus on your career!, Have fun!, You don't need no man!". I for one think it's time to start telling women the truth.

ReverendSnedley, thank you for noticing. I worked hard for my doctorate. I find so many opportunities to apply what I’ve learned in the Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders (dsm-5-tr) every single day. TH-cam comments is one such place. Care for a professional assessment? By the way, psychoanalysis is kind of dated. I prefer cognitive approaches.

On the surface, Stevie Nicks seems like the ultimate diva-prima donna, but every interview I've seen of her she is brutally honest and personally revealing. .

You're not the only one there's a lot of people that are not commenting on here because they don't want to be attacked. That child probably would have been a musical genius. What could have been..... You know she regrets it. She won't admit it

Thank you, Stevie Nicks. I have always admired your beautiful songs. Thanks for being a selfless human being. You could've neglected this controversial issue of women's reproductive care (like so many other celebrities), but you chose to do the sensible thing and stood on the right side of history. Blessed love!

Quite incredible, Stevie Nicks is still going strong. Sharp minded at her stage of life. Moment of interview...about her musical partner Christine McVie, made eyes misty.
Those, who detest choice of having an abortion. May not realize that was quite common. During hers and Don Henley's popular era in the music & acting industry. Highly respect her honesty.

Sometimes women get active in the pro abortion movement as a defense mechanism for dealing with the long term trauma and self loathing that results from getting an abortion. She seems like she is in a lot of pain over her decision. I wish for her sake that this interview was about her relationship with her child and the joy that has brought her. Perhaps we should all take a moment to mourn the loss of her child.

There is no evidence of any "abortion trauma." Stop trying to deceive people.
