Fun song! Three Dog Night is a great rock band from the 60's-70's. This band had a lot of energy. They had 3 guys with great voices that could all sing lead vocals. Some of their hits are "One" (written by Harry Nilsson), "Just An Old Fashioned Love Song", "Shambala", "Eli's Coming", "Try A Little Tenderness", "Never Been To Spain", "The Show Must Go On", "Joy To The World" etc.
Three Dog Night was a unique band with their own style. Their songs ranged from fun and light hearted to more meaningful. Just great music from a great band.
When you listen to their song Eli's Coming, I *really* hope you do the live, since it is so much more fun. You want the one where you can see the foot of the stage is lined with round stage lights at the perimeter.
I think you’re talking about the 1975 live version, with the extended intro where the lead singers all got to show off a little. 👍🏻🔥 th-cam.com/video/0CuNBengxaQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Ue8BgfGV3vDL0U-B
@@SaeedReacts. Particularly from the Aboriginal Australian hunters, who would dig a hole in the ground and then use dingos to keep warm. If it was cold they’d sleep with two dogs. If it was freezing, it would be a “three-dog night.” The band wanted to include the number three somewhere in their moniker as a representation of the idea that there are three lead singers. Danny Hutton, one of the lead singers and guitarists, said “We wrote down 60 names. However, I used to get this magazine called Mankind. My girlfriend at the time showed me an article about the Australian Aborigines with the phrase, a night so cold you will need to take three dogs to bed with you to stay warm, and that was that, Three Dog Night.”
Three lead singers! Saw them at 3 Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh, I think 1971? I was just a kid (11 or 12) but my older sister was supposed to be babysitting me and her boyfriend wanted to go to the concert. So my mom said she could go if they took me with them. My first concert! It was awesome. I’m still going to concerts. Got myself and my niece tickets for Christmas to see Billy Joel and Rod Stewart at Acrisure Stadium this summer. You should do Eli’s Coming from 3 Dog Night. Fantastic song.
One of those fun quirky songs of Randy Newman. Newman from the famous Newmans(Lionel and Alfred) who wrote so many movie scores in the 1930's,40's 50's...............
🥺 .... You found a great band here Saeed !! Many great hits for you to explore. Here are two of my favorites: "One" and "Shambala" , you may have heard the lyrics "…. one is the loneliest number ..." Great reaction , great band ! 🎼✨🎼✨🎼✨
Randy Newman is another great rabbit hole to jump into. He wrote a string of satirical songs across the '60s and '70s that are very amusing and musically catchy.
In 1972, when I was 13, I was at a slumber party and my friend's older sister was going to a party a few blocks away. We decided to invite ourselves to the party to check it out. People were smoking weed and doing other drugs, some were passed out, and inside the air was thick with smoke. We realized we shouldn't be there and didn't stay too long, but before we left this song came on. Absolutely spot on and every time I hear it, I remember that party. Listen to your mamas, kids!
Grew up in my teens listening to this group. They were so good and very popular in the 70's. Their songs were always being played on the radio. You need to listen to more of their music, you won't be disappointed, they had a swag about them. Songs suggested, Joy to the World, I've never been to Spain, Black and White, Shambala all great!!!!
So many awesome songs by Three Dog Night. The live version of this is even more fun than the studio version try Old Fashioned Love Song live. They had so many different styles. TDN had three lead singers. This one is Corey Wells. Old Fashioned Love Song is Danny Hutton, and Joy to the World is Chuck Negron. Love them all.
Today you're looking through young Timmy's record collection. This is a great song, and great band! Who were quite prolific. I was 12 when this song came out, and it made me want to go to that party and get high. In retrospect, it was where my fascination with that culture really kicked in. I played this song on repeat, on my little portable record player. Great memory! 🙂
The only one of the original 3 singers still in the band is Danny Hutton. His son Tim plays bass and sings. Of the other two, Cory Wells passed in 2015, and Chuck Negron, with the mustache, sang from '67-'76, and '81-'85. After Cory passed away, he was replaced by David Morgan, who used to be with 'The Association'.
Three Dog Night had three lead singers: Chuck Negron, Cory Wells, and Danny Hutton. They had many great hits that were covers of lesser known songs. They are definitely worth a deep dive!
Elis Comin' is probably their best, or my favorite, Never Been To Spain. Thanks for checking these guys out. They are probably the best cover band ever!
My exact reaction to the first couple of college parties I went to coming from a small town in rural Eastern Washington. My dormies couldn't believe how naive I was!
In 1971 I went to a 1-day music festival featuring Three Dog Night, Black Sabbath, Yes, Humble Pie, The Guess Who and others that I can't remember. I was 18, living at home & my "mama told me not to" go.......but I did.....and it was a gas! All that great music for I believe around $5.00. Thanks for reacting to this Saeed!
I was 10 when this song came out. Three Dog Night seemed to be the most popular rock group in my elementary school. All the kids were jammin' to this song, as well as to their other hits One, Eli's Coming, Joy to the World, and a little later Shambala.
They were different from other bands because they had three lead singers who didn't play instruments. Each had an incredible voice, and their harmonies were amazing. Saw them live twice, great in concert. They do an excellent cover of Otis Redding's Try a Little Tenderness and The Band's Chest Fever.
Three Dog Night was unique. Three legit lead vocalists/frontmen, switching off and backing each other up, and 4 incredibly versatile musicians that could play anything from folk to country to pop to rock to...yah, they could play just about anything. They gave a lot of songwriters serious paydays with their incredible covers of songs. In the early to mid seventies they were always hovering on the sales/popularity charts, and playing on the radio.
Take me back….yes. I love some Three Dog Night!! There were some parties then…..😊Try “Black and White”. It’s a great song with a powerful message. Video (official) 😊 preferred.
I remember the first time this came on the radio. We loved Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog, (Joy to the World is the real name) and this was also an instant hit. That music and Cory's voice. Oh, we just loved this song. He was feeling the party a little too much, lol.
This band's catalogue would make an ideal score for a Broadway "jukebox musical." Like was done with the Supremes, the Four Seasons, Carole King, the Temptations, Alanis Morissette, Billie Holiday, etc. The members of Three Dog Night have plenty of stories to tell. Can't you just imagine the staging for this particular song?
Sugar in your tea= do you want a hit of acid? The song was written by Randy Newman. Go check out his song Political Science. Edit, three lead singers in the band.
Hey Saeed, I love Three Dog Night! This is awesome when you watch them live! Do you know what a three dog night is? It's when you need all three of your dogs in bed with you to keep warm! Ha!Ha!Ha! This is true, and I have three dogs! Next you should try the live performance of "Old-Fashioned Love Song" it is incredible! Deb P.S. they have three singers that sing lead! Fabulous reaction!
Three Dog Night covered songs better than anyone else at the time. Randy Newman also wrote "You've Got A Friend In Me" from Toy Story. Another great song!
Hi Saeed , You are awesome in your reactions, when you get a chance since you reacted to Three dog night , could you react to Eli’s coming ( A banger & Joy to the world( awesome song. 👍❤️ Thank you so much . Regards, Robert
This song is groovy! (Or had people already stopped saying groovy by the time this came out?). Maybe it’s funky, I don’t know. But it’s got a groove, just the same. I like “Never Been to Spain.” It’s also groovy/funky. Elvis did a version of it after them (not quite as good as theirs).
🇨🇦 You have now reacted to a wide range of songs ! Have you noticed yet that music created and performed between 1959 to 1989 is maybe 13% sad or moody ( depressing maybe) while the other 87% is happy, upbeat, fun ! What they call music today is more than 80% complaining, argumentative, confrontational and therefore depressing, sad and basically crap ! 🇨🇦
You should review some Randy Newman, he is a genius. Anything off his Albums "12 Songs" or "Good Ole Boys", but I caution you about the song Rednecks. It has deragatory slurs in it that might not be acceptable on TH-cam, but the way Randy uses them is pure satire making fun of the people using them.

Yep
I like this song but Joy to the world was always my favorite.
@@SaeedReacts. Never been to Spain is great

This was the number one song in the USA on Kasey Kasem’s very first American Top 40 broadcast on July 4th, 1970
The nameof the band comes from an Australian expression to measure how cold it is, how many dogs you have to put on the bed with you to keep warm.
Oooh really? That is awesome. Had never heard of this expression. Good one! Thanks for letting me know about that!
Great voice and lyrics…memorable from the start! ❤ Always thought-provoking and profound!

❤. Love three dog night. Great place to start. Watch live performances anytime you can. They are fantastic live. Even better than the album.
The 60s and 70s were so much fun!

This song is so awesome. Three Dog Night were exceptional. They had many songs. This is a rabbit hole worth delving into. Love your reaction!

I like Shambala. A feel good song. Fun group!
Sounds like a normal 70s party. You might like their song "Black and White".
Randy Newman's songs were hysterical and sometimes very sweet.

It makes me think of a wild 1970s Hollywood party, so possibly something along the line of a Diddy party.
Sugar? Well ... That's what certain drugs were called at the time😮
