Hey Simon loving the videos becoming a main reference point as I plan my first trip to Japan In Jan/Feb. Have 7~8 days on mountain 3 Nozawa Onsen, 5 HV split across Happo one, 47, Goryu and Cortina (will be based near lift at Happo One) Good mix or should I spend an extra day on mountain at Nozawa Onsen ? What did you use for snow reports I want to hit Cortina right 😎
Hi Peter, thanks for watching and your kind words. I’d consider a day at Tsugaike Kogen as well. The tree riding there is just as good as Cortina in the right conditions. Sounds like what you have planned will make a great trip! I’ve never been to Nozawa Onsen so would be interested to hear what you thoughts on it are! You’ll enjoy being based in the village, there is plenty to do and everything you need. Only hassle is getting to Cortina, need to be up early for first bus if the timetable remains the same. I can’t remember specifically if I used an app for the snow… my go to is normally SnowForecast which has always been pretty accurate for me.
Hey, thanks for watching. I was in Hakuba end of Jan - middle Feb .. conditions were great. Depends on you.. There is some really good inbounds tree skiing which is managed by the ski resort... If you want to do the backcountry runs I would recommend bringing your safety gear.. always good to have a mate with you as well in the trees.

Hey sick video! What are the dates you went to hakuba? Did you need to bring safety gear for tree runs?

If you have to choose which resort beside Happo One would you do ?
