Thanks fellas, I got hosed because of this video! I immediately went and ordered the Boker Vigtig and it showed up today with 1095 steel!!! Not magnacut
I would love for you to do a compilation of the knives which had a 10 rating for the different tasks. You mentioned Lilly’s knife for the fire steel scraping. What was the one that ranked 10 for splitting? What was the one that rated 10 for feather sticking? What was the one rated 10 for pee pee stabbing???
I think it is fine to integrate sponsors, particularly how you did it. You were open about them being a sponsor, what you used and you used it in a real situation. You guys are honest, so no issues.
I appreciated the way you incorporated the sponsor. It was clear without being distasteful. The one thing that fans are always trying to tease out is how much of the reason is sponsorship vs belief in the product. Continue to maintain your authenticity and DBK fans will never doubt your intentions.
I've had this one for a while now and it goes with me on every trek innawoods as a companion knife to my Demko Freereeign (also in Magnacut). This one I paracord-sling-carry on me while the Demko is attached to my pack and it sees a lot of use. Excellent knife. Boker really nailed it with this one.
Thanks for the looks and liked the sponsor integrated into the video, I’m shopping fix angle sharpeners and thought I made my decision but now ??? Great Video MnM😎
I've seen chainring bolts used in the past for knifehandles. As they're a very short and broad thread they don't have any stretch to them and so are very prone to vibrating free. The right move is to install them with a thread retention compound like loctite 222 (or 243 if you're less likely to be removing the bolts frequently)- this is how they're installed on bikes.
Looks like a great knife. Enough for almost any bushcraft task while remaining nimble, Magnacut, so say no more. The low scandi on this one, and the ease of sharpening it, as shown, might be also best for the upcoming DBK knife? The integrated sponsor item was nice. Clearly stated as 'sponsored' and immediately put to use, to show what it can do. Nice mirror polish... Sponsor whatever/however, as long as you guys truly appreciate the product.
That Nalgene needs some stickers boys! Otherwise a great video! I've been eyeing that knife for a while now, who knows.... it might finally end up in my cart now...
That's seems like a great little knife. Integrating the sponsor product seem like a nice addition to me. I liked how you used it to put a mirror polish on the knife, showing what the sharpener could do, and then used the knife after that showing it's sharpness. I thought that was a nice touch. Thanks guys, now I have to save up 165 dollars for this one at the same time I'm saving up 300 Euros for a Malanika Puuko. Sheesh!
I bought two (2) of them... along with two (2) Hermod 2.0's (D2) and two (2) Hermod folders (midgard-messer) and mix them up with two (2) Eldris (each blade profile) and a Izula (1?) and some Condor little'uns. They're allways out and about when the ExRat Fat Boy and WE Ares are hiding. I started out with old Ka-bars cut down to 5.3" and an old Gerber MK II (where did I put it).... don't worry take up knitting
Great video. I would definitely buy that knife at that price. I really like the way you guys integrated the sponsor. Anything TSPROF is an obvious compliment to your video content. That's how it should be done. I would love to see relevant sponsors like this all the time. I mean get your money however you have to do it, unless it negatively affects your channel. You guys invested your lives in your work. You provide amazing content and information. You shouldn't have to end up broke just because you like what you're doing.
ive been looking at dave wanger work for a while and when i saw that collab ... i almost shit my pants! i bought 2 of those and for me in my never ending quest for the perfect compact bushcraft knife it end up being my favorite EVER!!!
The hultafors axe video was one of my favorites, any plans on another bushcrafty axe review? Doing the full suite of bushcraft chores with an axe would be awfully fun. maybe just awful, but fun to watch!
I found this Boker model on Lamnia website and Boker Solingen Vollintegral XL at Knives & Tools. I must be getting euro knives from euro rerailers. After four years of writing and hoping I just went to the post office to get my first Dulo knife. Its what he calls Dulo DBK middle knife. I asked him for a CPM Magnacut DBK knife with an extra cm of handle and 3Cm of blade
I think I'm going to try and make a piggyback sheath or double sheath to carry Vollintegral XL and Vigtig vs Wild in one. They'd make a great Solingen pair!
There is no such thing as the best knife. There are knives that are suitable for a task for different reasons. There is also personal preference, subjective but we humans are not all the same. The Böker Vigtig vs Wild is certainly a good knife, there are certainly people for whom it is personally the best knife, others may find the knife good, but find another knife better.
I am glad i already got it a few months prior. It's a great performance and budget small knife. I was comparing the ESEE Sencillo Magnacut and found this Vigtig vs Wild Magnacut and just bought it right away. The only downside is that it is not widely available outside of the German speaking regions.
Awesome video very sorry for Mikey’s loss 🍌 😂 also the way you introduced the sponsor was pretty smart not only showing it but actually testing it out. Ps will we have more info on the new dbk knife anytime soon
@@garrettreid6336 What R&D? The heat treatment processes have been well researched and documented by Larrin himself and the steel itself is nothing that regular steelworking tooling can't handle. It's literally just the companies pushing margins to an extreme because of hype.
Dudes I've been a fan of yall for so long idc if you put sponsored bits in the video. I want you guy to be successful and if that means you have to do tsprof pitches than I'm all for it.
Just started the video, and watched the part where you mention the nice small sheath and the clip on it do that you don't need a belt. I fully agree!!! One reason I Love mora companions and pro series is that they can clip into anything. Jeans, sweatpants, you can even clip them onto your underwear and go running around nearly naked and still have a knife on you. For me personally, I've really strives to add this to every knife I own. Early basic sheaths, id just create a dangler with a carabiner to easily clip onto your waistband or something. Now though, I've found little Knock off Ulticlips (which I believe is on the knife sheath here) and they are fantastic especially for any kydex sheath. They add so much versatility to a knife and how you carry it. Now the real ulticlip is probably better and more reliable, bit for someone living outside of USA, the knock off is fine and works as intended.
I think the only thing I don't like about it is that it's 4mm thick! I prefer knives that can slice well, 2mm is my favorite for scandi. This would be okay with a flat or other grind but scandi AND 4mm is thicker than my axe geometry
I have one and I agree. The 4mm is overkill for this very tough steel, I have a few other scandi ground knives at 3mm thick and they slice so much better
Was gonna comment the same thing. Scandi best at 2mm for stability when twisting or pressing hard, but the 3mm+ in their Heavy Duty models/garberg are already too thick. For 4mm you'd need a pukko full flat grind with micro bevel to be adequately slicey. Imaging cutting a carrot or onion with this thing, too impractical grind. This steel doesn't need it that thick.
A'aight, so what's the hardness of the Boker Vigtig? The creator of Magnacut stated that it's really important to get that right, and some brands made "Magnacut" knives with a hardness of 59 Rockwell which completely negates all positive Magnacut properties.
And reading comments about how the price is actually closer to $200 and the knife is not available must be really annoying. Yeah the linked dealer was sold out but I googled the knife and found one in stock for $145 shipped. People are so lazy. Anyway great video and I am sorry people suck.
I got the tsprof kadet pro a couple of weeks ago and love it. K03 was too expensive and large for me unfortunately, haha. They have convex attachments too!
I have been a knife fan for over 40 years and have been sharpening knives freehand for decades. I've tested a few systems over the years, but none of them convinced me. I recently bought a Tsprof Kadet Pro and what can I say, I love the system, it is solid, functional and precise. I still do a lot of freehand sharpening, but for example edge reprofiling I use the Tsprof system because it makes the process so much easier and is highly precise.
