Whelp a while ago i made and bought spell slinger for them. Cost about $55 excluding a $6 land i just happened to have, $52 if you exclude the sol ring and i was pleased with myself as it works pretty well and can keep up with other strong decks in my meta. Now you release this and not only did you set up the tops of libraries, something i thought would be more expensive, but youre more than $10 under and it fits them better, you're honestly too good at this.
Got my own Goodest Boy deck. Super fun to play. I run a lot of the cards that say you may look at the top card of your library at anytime, and may play the card. Really fun to use. And Pako gets huge.
Nice deck tech! You should have also referred that Noxious Revival can not only recur something for us, but also allows us to steal something with Pako from a player's graveyard :)
As much as I enjoy seeing setups and doing things to help your commander being its most efficient, I find it difficult to build around a commander to this degree. The deck needs to work even in its lowest and grittiest situations, for example when both your commanders are dead and you can't recast them because the lack of mana. However, there were some really sweet suggestions you put in here that I am absolutely going to use when I build my own Haldan and Pako deck. Lantern of Insight is a great example, as it gives people information and puts them on the defensive, giving you more time to strategize if you don't have your commanders out. Memory Lapse is also great because it gives you time to handle the card you countered, and you can also tell the other players at the table to target the person of that spell if the spell was especially egregious.

I like that Pako and Haldan can kind of fit any playgroup without changing the deck too much if at all. Their power scales almost directly in proportion to the other decks at the table and the cards in their deck are basically just protection and interaction and ramp.

A guy in my play group runs a Pako and Haldan theft deck and It makes me sooooo salty every time he plays it. He always manages to steal all my land drops and I get mana screwed by turn 4
I've found that Leyline of Anticipation is a pretty reasonable upgrade for the deck too! $6 at the time of this comment, and it lets you play everything that you steal at instant speed which is nice.
Hm, with Haldan on the field this is indeed interesting. Especially to cast stuff at flash speed in case there's removal pointed at Haldan in someone else's turn.
I love Pako & Haldan, I built this for the same but with 5 bucks extra and OMFG TOO GOOD!! Everyone in my play group hates that it performs so well. Highly recommended!!!
Yes! Into the wilds! Not the best card, but enables some feel-good moments. I was thinking about building these commanders with more "play extra land" ramp cards, as Haldan doesn't specify spells. So instead of having a deck with the usual ramp cards, I can experience some lesser-known cards and really embrace the "steal-yo-stuff" theme, which is always fun.
My version definitely isn't as budget but I already had pieces for it around, I love how the deck can pivot from being aggressive with pako to more defensive spellcasting with haldan out, especially if you've fetched some removal and counters
I've played Pako and Haldan a lot now and I've found that dedicating a lot of slots to cute cards that look at opponents top of libraries like Wand of Denial, Wizened Snitches etc. just don't have enough impact to actually be worth it. You're far better off just playing more answers and/or protection for your commanders.
If Wayfarer's Bauble is not reprinted soon and the price keeps climbing, Mitch will have to star making Wayfarer's Bauble excluded Commander Dech Tech videos.
Descendant of Soramaro would be pretty good in this deck. Yeah it's a creature but it let's you manipulate the top X cards of your deck where X is the size of your hand
I just finished building myself a Yasova Dragonclaw theft deck. Mine steals creatures for the most part but I have a few shenanigans to take your noncreatures as well.
Great deck tech. Just from my own brew of pako and haldan, these are the commanders you play if you don’t want any friends to play with or while playing at the table 😂
I took a more voltron build to the deck and use Haldan has a backup win line. Cards like leap/shadow rift/slip through space are insane. It’s also fun to have a flying Pako

I know you’re trying to keep the creatures to a minimum but Bloodwater Entity can be really good too as it gets an instant or sorcery back on top of your library etb.
To be fair, you could probably have just bought the precon at your LGS and just subbed in and out around 5 cards or so and still had a really powerful budget list 😅 I smashed like 4 or 5 games the night I got mine, that precon is SUPER tuned for such a cheap deck.

I don't know about you but I wouldn't mind running a version of these commanders where it's goal is to steal everyone's lands. While your opponents are thinking your wiffing you can run a bunch of additional land drop cards to play their lands and use that to stay in with a full grip of cards. Some problems with land decks is running out of lands. Even in commander you can only have 100 cards so being able to get land fall triggers with lands that arnt yours is kind of nice
Of course i use obroto to get all my land fall triggers but after repeatly using fetch lands and getting them back to get the more land triggers you do get dangerously low if your oppenents can deal with your tokens.
My brew has Kalamax support and not nearly as much top-deck knowledge... ...though I do enjoy permanently removing creatures by putting them on top of my opponent's libraries and attacking with Pako afterwards. I'm already running one of the reasonable upgrades, Etali (Primal Storm). Also, I finally have a reason to run Tahngarth's Glare, which is top deck manipulation for 1 red. Riverwise Augur, Dream Cache, and Conch Horn are pretty nice as well. I focus more on copying the spells I steal, utilizing cards from my collection and cards from the Kalamax precon. I have a few planeswalkers in my brew, so I run Fuel for the Cause, Merfolk Skydiver, Evolution Sage, and Guildpact Informant, which also helps with Pako's +1/+1 counters. Hunter's Insight and Bred for the Hunt are pretty nice as well. My brew gives me good reason to pick up Guided Passage, since I can copy it several times. It is going to be quite fun, and I've also brewed a Nikara-Yannik partner EDH.

The idea of lantern control but as a EDH deck is rather nice. Pako and Haldan are definitely the perfect commanders for such a iteration.

Summer Bloom is one of the most hilarious cards in this deck. Playing 4 lands in a turn for 2 mana is friggin' insane!
