Triumph has been muscling its way into my subconsciousness recently, and is fast becoming one of my favorite brands. The more I learn the more I like them. I think the Brits have missed a trick here - Triumph should be more widely positively promoted & celebrated as a national treasure not merely a Bike company.
I do love the sound of a Triple, other than the dash I like it very much. Price wise it’s very reasonable I recall paying £7500 for a Honda CBR 600F in the late nineties. Thanks Mark 👍
As an A2 compatible bike this must be a serious contender for anyone in that market. Cracking paint-job too, and with decent tyres from the get-go what's *not* to like about this middleweight from Triumph...
Just scrubbed a set of these Michelin Power 6 on my cbr600f4i, really grippy and confidence inspiring, lovely ride quality, effortless turning, very impressed. Hopefully they last well. Keen to add more miles. Excellent review as always Mark 👍
Took one for a test ride at my local dealer yesterday. Very nice ride and impressive for a 660. I do agree that it's road-bias design makes it quite stable at high speed on the highway (which may also lead to some compromises on the track but it's not intended to be an out of the box track machine). I'm very interested in purchasing one but California's insurance industry is in a huge mess right now and insurance rates are simply unacceptable - I've been quoted rates varying anywhere from $1700 to $9310 a year. Nice ride Triumph!
This video is the final confirmation I needed. I'm buying one as my second bike. I do hope they make a sub 400 lb 330 or 440 triple Daytona at some point. They would dominate the "beginner" market.
Great review. I have a Speed Twin 900 currently which I’m very happy with, but if I was looking for a sports bike in the mid range the Daytona would be a real contender.
Nice review. Great engine, seems like a decent bike. Not really a fan of the cockpit but it isn't a deal breaker. Although I am more put off by the average suspension & lazy handling. This is a class leader if they sharpened up the handing just a little bit. Seems like they slightly missed the mark but I'm sure Triumph will address it next year as they're usually pretty responsive.
I agree entirely. I tested the very bike Mark is reviewing here and as a previous owner of a Speed Triple R, Street Triple 675 RX and Street Triple 765R, I was expecting good handling. BUT, coming to the first roundabout I had to really haul the bike into the turn. At first I thought it might be a soft front tyre but having now read MCN's latest review, the problem seems to be a high front end. I only did about 5 miles because I was so disappointed by the dull handling, which you better describe as "lazy". By comparison the Suzuki GSX8R is much sharper handling and I think a better bike.
@@TwinPotMan Agreed. And for the record I bought an 8R as it was the better package, for me at least, by far. The 8R's no scalpel but it's handling is surprisingly good & very positive. Night & day compared to this & that's with the distinctly average OE rubber on too.
Probably a bit late now, but I found the handling the same when I first test rode one, it felt a little laboured, almost too "gentle"... Then I watched a guy on YT talking about the preload on his Daytona, as he is 18st and just under 6' tall, it was set too soft from factory. #1 of 6 I believe on the preload. He set his to #3 after messing about with it and it transformed the bike! I've now done the same on mine (I'm 6'2 and 16.5st) and it has transformed the handling. Miles sharper now! Is it as sharp as my XSR900 GP? No, but that is a far more focused riding position to be fair. The Daytona now feels so much more lively and eager to get over. I've not even scrubbed the tyres in yet (only done 50 miles on it!) but already it feels... 🤔 Well, night and day different to my first test ride! 👍
Probably the best looking modern middleweight sport motorcycle on the road. Pity the quick-shifter isn’t standard, but I bet these will sell fast anyway.
Nice review Mark. The international launch reviewers thought it was a bit soft, but they are probably not reflecting an every day rider. The dash/instruments is woeful. Idiosyncratic and not even trying to meet the market with a TFT. Triumph needs to sort this the more premium Street Triple R has the same stupid dash. The RS has a TFT, but the tach set up is unreadable. Need to fire that team.
Love the sound of this, I'm sat on the fence with my decision if I like it or not🙂. Although it's all in the test ride 🤔.. great review as always Mark ❣️ x
Hi Mark, Have you ever ridden a Honda CBR600F ? I bought one of the very last ones made back in 2007 and found the riding position good, not too sporty (the handling was great too). What I'm wondering is if the riding position of the Daytona 660 is anything like the CBR600F... ? Thanks for the vid, very good review, love the sound of the bike... it's got me quite interested to go and have a look at one.
Hi Mark, a great review, i know exactly what you mean, and totally agree with your summing up. Why?, because i tested that same bike from DTD a few weeks back, on the same roads, and absolutely loved it. I totally agree about the need for these more road focused mid sized sports bikes, they are the right sports bikes for crappy British roads. However, i still think there is a market for a larger version, possibly using the Tiger 900 engine, now that would be the ultimate pure road sports bike.
This looks like a nice sort of budget sports tourer/comuter machine. When i was 19 I had a TZR250 and I had no car and loved it. If i was that age again one of these or CBR650 or GSX8R would be perfect. In my 50s and having bikes mainly for fun its not for me. One thing i do wish is Triumph would get up to date with their dashes. This looks dated compared to all other manufacturers TFT dashes. They just about get away with it on this the trident and the tiger sport but it has no place on the Street Triple R which its also fitted too😮
Hi felt perfect for me at normal speeds on the road ... couldn't fault it Maybe some journalists have been pushing it to the limits and found limitations but all good 👍 Cheers mark
Heavy bike and high pricing for this segment...the only thing that convinced me is the triple engine...the rest i dont know...steel frame...non adjustable sospensione..quickshifter optional...ecc ecc...the price is not right
Hi I was in sport mode all the time ....at the beginning I said the mode button changes the modes Tbh it doesn't really do much in reality apart from soften the throttle Best wishes mark
Hi for the road it's perfect...yes it's a budget ish set up ...compared to ohlins etc but for normal road riding it's just right ...Which is what it's sold as ..a sports bike for everyday Best wishes mark
G'day Mark, been away on a long ride with mates as it unusual warm for winter here, great review, l think the 650/660cc will be the high water mark in the future motorcycle market as fossil fuels use tightens, the speed twins manufactures of old new this concert well, cheers mate, ride safe, Neil 🤠.

Test rode a restricted 660 today after getting off my CBR600F3, even that felt beautiful in the mid range. Lovely to ride.
These Triumphs are beautiful and superb building quality…What a bike…Thanks Marc for great review as usual…Pleasure to watch
Thanks Tony I appreciate that 😊
Lovely little mid range bike , Bit of a looker too .
I used to have an ST 955i , just love those triple engines .
I had the trident 660 when it first came out out! Great engine

Mark I have just got a Trident from the folks at destination Dorset, the triple engine and torque is amazing. I love these triples.
Worthy successor, see nothing wrong with that.
The same for me, nice bike.
I had the 660 tiger sport, brilliant bike this looks like it's just as good, great value for money.
My fav was the 2012 675r model. That was super
Great review. I have a Speed Twin 900 currently which I’m very happy with, but if I was looking for a sports bike in the mid range the Daytona would be a real contender.
Awesome review Mark.. like the new camera angle with you riding from the front 😊 Pete
Thanks Pete 😄 expect more like that in the future 😁

Ace bike Marc, and fab review as always. Can’t understand why they don’t fit quick shifter to the demo the test ride would be much more exciting,
Yes Trevor.... Agreed 👍💯
Great sound for stock pipes.
Yes you can't beat that triple soundtrack 😁
Probably the best looking modern middleweight sport motorcycle on the road. Pity the quick-shifter isn’t standard, but I bet these will sell fast anyway.
I rode it.. i loved it!!!! But that dash... I have to buy the gsxr 8 or another Rs660
Nice review as always, I’m not a fan of the bike, the back end looks too short and the dash is a bit lacking compared to full TFT displays. Ride safe.
Love the dash on this bike. So how does this bike differ from the street triple ?
lighter, faster, but more uncomfortable
Great review! Daytona or GSX-8R, which would you choose?
Tough choice Clive I was thinking exactly that ....50/50 tbh but at a push probably the triumph for That glorious engine
Cheers mark
Great looking bike for the road, nice in that colour. I'd be happy to own one.😊

Nice! Would you have this or the GSXR?
Id go for the triumph as I love the triple engine

Nice bike and a good review as always Mark...(Why did you turn off comments on the Ridstar Q20 ?)
My bad they are on now :)
Cheers mark
Good job Mark. Hello from Tom in Alabama.
Hi Tom and greetings to Alabama,:)
Love the sound of this, I'm sat on the fence with my decision if I like it or not🙂. Although it's all in the test ride 🤔.. great review as always Mark ❣️ x
Love the idea of this bike. How would it be a sport tourer for longer trips.
Hi very comfortable for long distance.... comfortable seat and riding position 😁
Cheers mark
@@markpulling12 Thank you Mark. This may be my next bike.

Is that the Christchurch dealer? I'm going through the process to pass my a2 with ride on, on the iford bridge and have my eye set on this bike!
Hi yes the Christchurch branch
Cheers mark

great review as always
120HP plus I'd have been interested
Any wind buffeting on helmet?
Hi no more than usual ....the fairing felt very effective
Cheers mark
Which would you say is better for torque and power and top end the aprillia rs 660 or the daytona
Hi top end the triumph just wins... torque id say both equal
Cheers mark
@@markpulling12 thanks for the reply I am looking for a track bike will the aprillia be the better option
@@p305-mrworldwide9 for the track yes the Aprilia would definitely be better ...the suspension is quite soft on the triumph
Nice one Mark..... always good.
Glad you enjoyed it cheers mark
Thankfully passenger seat on this does not look so wildly cocked up in the air like it is on the Trident
I love it Mark. A great review as per. 👍😊
Would you buy the Daytona 660 or the Yamaha R7?
Triumph for me ...it's more compliant for the road
Cheers mark
Great bike but why didn’t they choose the 765 Street Triple engine?
I doubt that could be made A2. 🤷♂️
Also it would of cost around £15k where this one is around £9 with few options.
This one has alot of power...it's quite a bit more powerful than the Trident 🔱
Think it's worth trading in the trident?
No not really the Trident 🔱 is brilliant...don't think you would gain much ...the 765r street triple would be worth considering
Cheers mark
Whats rhe fueling like on a wet rainbow streaked island?
Hi the fueling is immaculate especially in rain mode it's very mellow
Cheers mark
@@markpulling12 Thank you. My 750 Hornet is snatchy.
isn't there an issue with the handling of this bike though?

I'll keep my 675, thanks.
Epic bike ... don't blame you;) 😀
Wicked !!! 🏁🏁🏁
Whooooosh!🏍
Nice
This or the Suzuki 8 R?
Very tough choice 50/50 really but at a push id go for the triumph because of the glorious triple engine
Cheers mark
So why would I buy this over a 765?
This or a 24 Street Triple?
I personally prefer naked bikes so definitely the 765 R for me :)

Nice sports tourer alternative to the CBR650R though, I can see why they did it. Wish it had a tiny bit more power but that's just me.
Its a great daytona motorcycle
Didnt show us how the sport mode works
