what do you think how many russian women left to the West and are happy living in freedom and prosperty? the fact that they are posting here is simple - they just watch other channels this stereotype thinking providing single cases is unbelievable stupid Happy live is possible in both ways
You can replace untraditional with modern American and the point will remain the same. I can't wait to move back to Russia. Left in 2004 when gopniks were on every corner. The country has improved 10fold.

I also watched the part with Expat. You know, as a person born in the USSR,, this is amazing how things have changed. I mean, in my childhood I even had doubts you guys existed, so distant and alien our countries felt. And now look at you, living in Russia, and educiting me about some things i've never paid attention to living here. Thanks for the experience 👏
Wow, talk about when worlds collide. I watch a lot of ex-pats living in Russia. Including ones already mentioned, I also watch Sam's Russian adventures, who is from England and has lived in Russia for about 15 years or so. Someday, I hope to be an ex-pat too. I have always been fascinated with Russia since I was a child. I have always been drawn to Russia. Growing up, I was bombarded with the idea Russia and its people were the enemy, but I was always rooting for them in all the movies in which they were the bad guys. Great video, gentlemen.
great! So good to hear people with healthy open minds who broke free from propaganda of hate. One needs to make their own visions of life. Thank you Daniel, and I will check Joseph work on YT. Regards Jana
I’ve been watching TH-cam videos since about 2008 and THIS video is, by far, one of the most insightful and honest I have ever seen. I’m planning a move to St. Petersburg in the near future and as an American I find your videos both interesting and informative. Thank you.
Because Russian women - open hart and beautiful. They can do everything… In Canada/US - I met just with few women like that. Best of LUCK to all of you!
Two of my favorite Americans in Russia! A great interview, Daniel. I watch all of your collective videos and enjoy seeing life in both amazing places. I can see why Lake Baikal is so intoxicating and the life there is so easy and pleasant. Major cities like Moscow and Petersburg are just as intriguing and beautiful in a different way. I feel wherever a person wants to live in Russia is a good choice. A better life all around. So glad you got together and I hope you visit each other in person. Will you also interview Kevin (American in Crimea)...he's another great guy. All of you are teaching me so much and I appreciate it.

La descripción que haces de tu hogar cerca de Baikal es envidiable.

Guys, I admire you. I know what it means to move with the family to another country and get adjusted there. I sincerely wish you all the best in your Russian life! And talking about safety, I lived in Moscow for 11 years in 70s - early 80s and I remember walking all the way across Moscow at 1 AM and never had to worry about my safety.
I m impressed how quick you became a professionnal youtuber, almost a journalist sometimes. I like specially this kind of interview. There is all kind of new immigrants from the west you could interview. They start business. And Russia will still be rich in 100 years, with all the ressources! It s becoming the country of opportunities. Don t forget that the new iron curtain is from the west only, the rest of world appreciate more and more Russia. Specially because of the family values! the woke ideology is destroying the western culture

"Siberian Freedom" is another one channel for you. They are an Aussie family who moved to Altai district to establish their farm. Not so far from you guys considering the country size :)
I do agree that overall Russian ladies are more suited for traditional families. Somehow, however, I cannot shake off the bitter aftertaste for the Western women, for these, who are traditional, kind and loving. Yes, we are not many but we exist. Нас мало но мы в тельняшках, как Русские говорят.
We count you as one of us. As you see Dan and I come from everywhere culturally and we have settled here not because it is Russia but because of what Russia is.

An excellent interview, I periodically watch both channels, an interesting look from the outside at my favorite country! About Baikal and its size - one interesting fact, about 336 rivers flow into the lake, and only one Angara River flows out. So, if you block all the rivers flowing into Lake Baikal, then the water from the lake will flow through the Angara River ... 400 years, the lake is so huge! And I also want to say - Dan, you have a very open look and a kind sincere face, this is something that we Russians really appreciate! Sincerity is always appreciated and respected in Russia. And, by the way, the plans that you announced also pleased me - you are a nice couple with Ksenia and I want you to be able to build your happiness here in Russia, in any case, I wish you that! Glad to see people finally getting the message out. I had a great time in Russia with my wife, both in her home city, Barnaul, also Moscow and St. Petersburg were amazing! It's kind of silly, but when Russians talk about Russia, it's seen as bragging, but when Americans talk about America it's just fact. Oh, and it is true, the further north you go in Florida, the deeper the accent. I'm from Hilton Head Island SC. So my accent is so thick you can spread it on bread. Especially Savannah, GA. Please keep up the good work!
Glad you enjoyed it! I wanted to get answers that would help people understand not only Joseph but the process of assimilation and survival in Russia. before the talk he said I should do my homework and ask new fresh things. I did it in my style 🤣🙏🏻

100% agree with @expatamerican3234 - SPB & Moscow are some of the safest places I've been to and lived. I went on a vacation to California last year - LA & SFO - and was horrified. "What a weird, strange, and dangerous country, this California is, I thought to myself (cities, at least)." How relieved I was to get back to the safety of Russia. Like he said, I'm sure there's crime here. And I see posts of local idiots on Telegram channels, but compared to the violence back home in the US - things here seem like chump change.
Dan, you and I have a lot in common. We both are from California, both Marines, and both involved with Russia and with Russian women. Well actually my journey-although it started in Russia (St Pete) I actually ended up in Ukraine. No difference though during my time. In my experience, and like you probably have been asked many times...Why Russia and why Russian woman? My answer is always: Because they make my life much richer. They add richness. It's very simple and probably you have this too

New York is very bad right now. Dari Step from Russia applied at 8 American Universities, approved by 7! She had conversations with the Professors and she chose New York. The Professor in New York worked out a good deal for her. She arrived in New York yesterday, starting classes soon to obtain her Masters degree. She's a lovely, bubbly Russian woman. Dan, I've 'seen' Moscow a lot via TH-cam. I think your'e living the 'American dream' - in Russia. It's absolutely wonderful where you are. If it was possible, I'd visit you! It's too late for me to visit (I'm 20 years older than Expat) I'm a South African and I don't have an idea how cold it can get there. Obviously in the minus degrees Celsius. My town have borders to two other provinces (you call it States in America.) To reach the other provinces you have to go through mountain passes. Scenery is beautiful. But nowhere near your scenery. Our winters are too short and our summers too hot. I'm so glad for you that you found the place you're happy with - not to mention the lovely woman you met. Do you think you can get your mother to visit you for 3 months? She can teach your then wife how to cook the things you love.

Hello Dan. I saw you on the Expat American channel. And as I was watching you, I was thinking I know this guy. I was searching for videos about Russia awhile back and you video popped up. I remember you said you were for the San Fernando, Sylmar area. Well then you must know were Ross's Liquor Store is on San Fernando Rd. I'm guessing that maybe when you were a little kid you might have gotten your hair cut at Manny's Barber Shop. That was my Dad's Barber shop. I am Manny Jr. My Dad has passed away, but I have a lot of memories of the Barber shop and Mr. Ross
WOW what in the hell! How would you even find such videos being from where we are from! This is an insane comment! RIP to your father and honestly what an unexpected comment please tell me what has you watching such topics! Im going back to Sylmar in November actually.
Hey Dan. Well I want to to retire in a foreign county. I'm 66, America is no longer the country that I grew up in. I don't live in California anymore, I moved to Charlotte North Carolina in 2005. I have been searching for a place to live for about 3 years now. I have narrowed it down to Italy or Russia. I have been using the internet and a lot of TH-cam videos. Your video just popped up one day when I was searching for Russian videos. Everything that I have heard from people who moved to Russia from the U.S. love it. Italy is kind of an outlaw of the EU. There is murmurings of Hungary, Italy, and other countries will leave the EU. In 2024 something big is going to happen, something awful is going to happen to the West. I don't want to be here when that happens.

I honestly think there are more people in the USA, that don’t believe the propaganda about Russia than one might think. We just get shouted down by the fear mongers and nay sayers who believe the DC propagandists. Most of the USA does support traditional family values, it’s just the current government does not. If Russia allowed my church to operate there I would consider moving there, even though I’m older. Unfortunately that is not the case, but I hope that changes one day. I love both your channels and appreciate the info you share.
I am old enough to remember when Reagan was president and he was convinced that the American people were morally superior to the Russians because Americans believed in God but the Soviets did not. Now the shoe appears to be on the other foot. It's the Russians that believe in God and traditional family values while many Americans don't believe in anything at all.
Hi, Daniel, great interview ☺️ I wish you guys all the best with your future family with Ksenia, I hope you will soon find your dream house and have many happy years together in Siberia. I watched both videos and you know, when you were talking about in other channel at 16:20 how people ask you about Russian spirit, you are right about many things already after just year living here, it's in many ways about building your character and spirit with going through some hardships together, and about many other things, about the way we treat friendship that you also talked about, and how Russia is in all peoples hearts that all share this Russian mentality while loving and preserving their own national cultures and languages within it along with that, that you mention at 6:20 in that other video. And having close like almost spiritual connection to the land and our nature, our birch trees. It's so heartwarming to see how your eyes light up when you talk about your pride and love for Baikal in this video 🤗 And many other things that you'll discover in your Russian journey in future. And people just ask you that question in hopes to see that part of all that also started growing and taking a place in your heart too and to bond with you on that level with sharing that
Thank you so much for watching and having such a detailed comment! in my videos you can see I am part of this land now. interestingly enough it’s like I was supposed to come here. my ancestors surely are from the baikal area as a native Mexican that I am it’s said that it’s true 😆
@@Wild-Siberia hehe yeah, I think you were supposed to have this path too. And just like you described those people that have different nationalities here and have their own rich culture, but all have Russia in their heart - you are becoming like that too, so people are curious to hear about that experience of that happening in your life when they ask you about that Russian spirit :) I think Latin American people are actually very very close to us in mentality and it's much easier for us to develope close bonds with each other than with US people (while I think they still more like us than Europeans). Your peoples are much more open to outsiders than us and we are weary of strangers as you noticed as historically that's what we had to be with all people coming to attack from all around (which still keep happening it looks). But when you get past that, inside we are very very similar I think. With big family bonds, that we usually keep living with long after we just become 18 and that we keep close all our lives, with strong women, with big hospitality and calm good natured spirit and also knowing how to have good time and have a nice celebration
Seriously. It is interesting to think about where are family line has been and basically where are DNA has been for 1000 of years. What nations and places and parts of history were are ancestors a part of.
Dan, Joe... I enjoyed your ttalk ... thank you!.. as an American/Spaniard I do agree with your thoughts 100% ... I have split feelings about Moscow and Siberia... I'm not fond of big cities, but as a foreigner I think I'd be easier to deal with bureaucratic stuff in Moscow but for the sake of my soul, I'd love to be near Baikal... Joe, as per traditional values... yes sir, Russia is a haven for us conservative minded people. Second cold war? Yeah, who cares as long as I can be happy living amongst people with similar values to mine... great job guys! I'm a big follower of both!

Looking forward to many more. btw/ just found your channel today from a mention made by Nelli on "Wind from the North" youtube channel. I am happy both of you found love and are happy living in Russia. Not for me however. I travelled as a tourist on the transmongolian railway. Like everywhere I met some good people and some not so good people. Had a few times where I felt people gave me a hard time probably expecting a bribe. I was told it was a corrupt society and I found to often people did not go out of their way to help a stranger. Lake Baikal is a natural wonder, don't think I would want to live there in winter with -30C weather. Most people appear to survive on a subsistence living with many going to Moscow or St Petersburg to find decent work. Life expectancy is low for men, alcoholism appears to be a serious problem as is domestic violence (so much for family values). I would never be willing to give up the freedom to speak out and criticize your government without the fear of being put in prison or poisoned.
I live on the south shore of Lake Superior, or as we call it, Mother Superior. I'm in the upper peninsula (U.P.) of Michigan, and we are called Yoopers. I can appreciate the town you live in, as my little town has maybe 100 residents, and we are surrounded by hundreds of miles of forest, lakes and rivers. We are also on the 47th parallel, not to far off of Siberia. You don't have to go as far as you did to leave the deteriorated societies that our big cities have become. I lived in Las Vegas for three decades working construction and came back to my hometown after the fall in '09. That is why I enjoy your channel. This simple way of living is so much more enjoyable than the rat race of city life. As far as women are concerned, Russian women are very beautiful, this is true, but there is something more that is enticing. U.S. women are beautiful on the outside, but they come with a sense of entitlement that is very ugly on the inside. I'm 55 years old, and have been divorced twice. That is enough for me. IF (and a very slim if) I were to ever marry again, it will certainly not be an American woman. Finding the right one here is like a needle in a haystack. With that said, I intend to live the rest of my life here, but I would love to visit Russia and many other places around the world. The problem is never the people, it's the damn governments around the world. and the elites that run them that make us all enemies, mine included. We as Americans are tired of it, and with a little luck the pseudo monarchy that has taken root here will be dethroned soon enough. Salud, my friend. or should I say nastrovia?!
Russians have сменка when needed. Shoes for indoors that you change to from street shoes. That's what kids do at schools. And in some workplaces. Or in hospitals and some other places you wear бахилы over your shoes. Which is like foot size sort of plastic bags, I don't know how you call them in English. And at home slippers. And it's not just about shoes. We also have clear division between street clothes and home clothes and change to home clothes right away when we come home. Because you sat in that everywhere too just like you walked in all those places in your shoes. And to us our home is like our temple, we keep it clean
Great Interview,Daniel. However, I do want to correct something that the EX Pat American said. for the most part, Americans don't dislike Russians or even Russia in total. However, they do have a problem with the current Russian government policies.
I was born a lot earlier and got to experience the communists. To add a bit of depth to this discussion, it was absolutely correct that one could not leave any communist state except after you were drawing a pension, and for the duration of the absence from the country, you would forfeit that pension. My father, due to his position was one of about 2 percent of the population that could leave with permission, but that was because they had a use for him. He also had the ability to shop at those special stores that could only be entered by party officials, sports and science figures and higher military officials. What I find really disturbing is that now in the USA I am in the same situation. I would lose my pension were I to move to Russia, as I would like to do. So what does that say about our "freedoms"? I now call it "the land of the freaks". I've now lived in five cultures in my life and would do almost anything to be able to emigrate to a place such as Russia where there are still family values and where traditions of the culture are respected. How sad is it that I don't have the choice of free will?
@@MarinaDudanova No. There is a list of countries that you can not receive your pension. Most of the stans for example. Moving money to Russia directly is not possible it seems and to move it to an intermediary country first seems a poor long term strategy seeing how things are developing.
I remember myself watching US movie Rocky 1. It was made in the end of 70s. One of my favorite movies by the way. I was about 11 in 1989 or 1988. It was time when video-saloons started. Just a hall with couple tv and chairs. So, I asked myself why it so dirty on the streets? Why people heating at burning barrels. And why Rocky live in such shithole. Because I been told US is paradise. There were no homeless in USSR. No jobless.

I did not except so many comments saying this but I’m glad to hear it.
I hope thats true so that when we get a new US president we can stop this hate Russia Russia evil thing and be friendly again like it was 4 years ago!
I’m glad to hear many Americans are sane as I suspected.

@@Wild-Siberia hehe yeah, I think you were supposed to have this path too.
And just like you described those people that have different nationalities here and have their own rich culture, but all have Russia in their heart - you are becoming like that too, so people are curious to hear about that experience of that happening in your life when they ask you about that Russian spirit :)
I think Latin American people are actually very very close to us in mentality and it's much easier for us to develope close bonds with each other than with US people (while I think they still more like us than Europeans).
Perfectamento! Grazias a lot! Tu eres Almero Perron!

Really enjoyed your interesting video ! Just found this and the one where you were at train station in deepest winter in Siberia - you are an adventurer ! Looking forward to many more. btw/ just found your channel today from a mention made by Nelli on "Wind from the North" youtube channel. She shares very entertaining videos and interesting observations as she travels around her city and Russia in all four seasons !
Wow thats very nice of her! Thanks for mentioning this!
A few days ago our summer weather switched to fall here in Moscow. I’m ready for winter ;)
Good video Daniel, thanks for sharing , God bless brother !
He did good ;)
Thanks for the support 🙏🏻
That was a great collab guys - loved it!😄
Thanks Man!
Yay, thank you Agent Z
It was very interesting, thank you so much
Glad you enjoyed it!
It was more interesting than I expected.
Great talk man, appreciate you both.
Thanks for listening
Thanks man ;)
I live on the south shore of Lake Superior, or as we call it, Mother Superior.
Regarding negative comments I believe every TH-camr blogger faces this no matter what content they have. You can’t just please everyone.
Yes I have no problems with this
Yes. It is just funny.
In Australia we need to wear shoes inside in case we need to fight snakes. It can happen at any moment. They come in through the roof.
Sounds like a Gold Rush town where you live in Australia and this is true about the clothes.
Or incase you get into a kicking contest with a kangaroo!

I hope this will help stop national hatred.
Yes it makes no sense why anyone would hate an entire nation.
This is why we do what we are doing.

Both of you are awesome! Good video!
Thank you for the positive review!
I could cry with all the positive comments from this collab 💪🏻
Great Interview,Daniel. However, I do want to correct something that the EX Pat American said. for the most part, Americans don't dislike Russians or even Russia in total. However, they do have a problem with the current Russian government policies.
This is very fair! thank you for the input and for watching
I take off my shoes ever since I lived in Japan. And I have always done it and switching to house clothes after you arrive back home.

Is that his real name? ;)
You probably mean that you'd loose SSI, not pension? I was under impression that US pension will go with us whereever we go...
@@MarinaDudanova No. There is a list of countries that you can not receive your pension. Most of the stans for example. Moving money to Russia directly is not possible it seems and to move it to an intermediary country first seems a poor long term strategy seeing how things are developing.
I live in the Midwest and removing shoes is common.
It seems strange to me to not take off your shoes.
Very cool! In california I never met a family who took their shoes off
Good to hear ;)
I remember myself watching US movie Rocky 1. It was made in the end of 70s. One of my favorite movies by the way. I was about 11 in 1989 or 1988. It was time when video-saloons started. Just a hall with couple tv and chairs. So, I asked myself why it so dirty on the streets? Why people heating at burning barrels. And why Rocky live in such shithole. Because I been told US is paradise. There were no homeless in USSR. No jobless.
Dan, моя жена русская а я из Украины. Живём в Сакраменто уже 11 лет. Мы хотим посетить Россию когда закончится война.
I'm glad you found a beautiful place to live and a beautiful woman in Russia. Hope you will have a blessed life there.
thank you
I was born in 1960 and was always told the Russian people wasn't bad it was the people running the Govt that was bad. I lived in Chicago near a Russian community that's what they always said.
Well anyone can be bad, but an entire nation very doubtful
