The amazing thing about Dwight here too is that even at this young age...he never goes out of pitch or key. He's already a killer singer like all the legends and he knew a ton of songs.

He wrote every one of his songs and he has wrote songs for other bands he just got married in 2020 just had a baby and there's a video on TH-cam that said what happened to Dwight yoakam go look it up he'll tell you all about it ain't nobody wrote a song for him that's all came from him that's why he's a legend

@@lisacox3773 Dwight wrote lots of songs, and great ones too but he didn't write ALL of them. There's 3 covers on the Population Me album for starters, but my favorite songs from that album were Dwight's songs.

There's an interview with Pete, where he talks about putting the band together, what it needed, back in the days when Dwight had moved from sleeping in his car to sleeping on the floor in Pete's laundry room. He recalls saying to Dwight: "I know a fiddler..." Brantley Kearns is just plain flat out mountain fiddler magic.

I saw Dwight for the first time live at the opening of a new casino in Winterhaven, California--right across the river from Yuma, Arizona. This video must have been at least 20 years prior and I can see that he played some of the same songs at both events. I was not a big fan of country music, but he played his music so well, I became one. Thanks for reading.

I believe that at the time of this live recording, Dwight had released his 1984 EP called “Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc.” based on him saying about the EP.
The EP had six tracks that were all also on the 1986 Warner LP of the same name.
Here’s the track list for the original 1984 EP (for those who don’t know).
    “Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc.”
    Released: 1984
    Producer: Pete Anderson
    Label: Oak Records
*(Dwight Yoakam; Coal Dust Music, BMI)
    Side 1:
    1. It Won’t Hurt*
    2. South Of Cincinnati*
    3. I’ll Be Gone*
    Side 2:
    1. Twenty Years*
    2. Ring Of Fire
(June Carter, Merle Kilgore; Painted Desert Music, BMI)
    3. Miner’s Prayer*

He's always been a legend my favorite country singer of all and I'm 58 years old but anyone that can sit down write their own songs every one of them every one of them put that funk into country music just a good-hearted man and he's wrote songs for other people for example I won't even tell you the band I shouldn't have to I want You to want me that's just wanting to wrote for someone else but anyone that can sit down and write every one of their songs that's legend I'm sorry but it is I mean he may not have Michael Jackson's moves or Elvis Presley but you know what he's got more talent than them to put together I'm sorry but that's my opinion everybody has one and that's mine he's coming to concert July in Kentucky and I will be there if the Lord's willing because I ain't no spring chicken but when he came out I went nuts I went flipping insane let me know like Marty Stuart I like Travis tritt I don't like a lot of the new ones that's me old school OG Merle Haggard Hank Williams bocephus that group right there there's more I forgot I'm sure but Waylon Jennings I mean yeah David Allan coe I love them all but this man right here will always be at the top of my list I'm sorry if that offends anybody but I really don't care I don't see why it would it's my choice of music my taste what I like and a lot of people may disagree with what I said about Michael Jackson and Elvis that's fine too and Johnny Van zant oh Lord that's another story but when that plane went down in 77 there was no more Lynyrd Skynyrd Ronnie tries but he will never be his brother they lost Johnny Cassie and one of the guitar players I'm sorry his name's not coming to me right now I just woke up and seen this video because I've been watching Dwight yoakam videos all night but no someone said you want to go see Lynyrd Skynyrd and I'm like are you flipping serious.. I think can you take me back to the seventies they didn't like that too much but maybe they well I know they didn't they were younger but it's not the same it's not the same without Johnny and it never will be they should have stuck with
Rossington Collins because there is no Lynyrd Skynyrd without Johnny Van zant my opinion again he sounds nothing like his brother nothing I mean sure don't look like me I know they do it as a tribute to Johnny and I respect that from the bottom of my heart I do under the video out there if you look up Lynyrd Skynyrd 1977 Oakland and scroll down there's another video that's about an hour long of the people that went to help pull them out of the plane they didn't even know who it was at first for a long time I mean like till morning because they went down in pine trees it's when they started going down and they had hit an oak tree and the manager of the band blames himself because he let him get on the plane he didn't let them drink at all during that whole performance the only one that ever done sober that's all they did was drink and smoke weed had they been drunk and loose you know they might have made it but since they wasn't drinking Johnny took some sleeping pills because he was wore out and they knew they were going down and because he was out of it one of the band members the crew members went back there and put his seat belt on and he was fussing and fighting with him what are you doing what are you doing and he said he can remember hearing something click before they hit and it was just all bad from there I mean as they were getting them out they could see the equipment I mean they knew they were a band but they had no clue it was Lynyrd Skynyrd it's a good video these people are still alive today and had they not been there more would have died there was choppers that had to come and hover over the sky so they would have light it's just an amazing video because it happened on a man's property and he heard about it and he rushed out there and everybody just started coming and trying to get them out it was an amazing video I'm sorry I don't have anything I can put a link because all I have is a cell phone but if you look up Lynyrd Skynyrd Oakland 1977 and scroll down this video is not that old cuz they're even talking about it being 40 some years ago I think 41 but with that being said yeah I'll take Dwight yoakam and Johnny Van zandt all day long above everyone oh I'm sorry I forgot one and it breaks my heart kid Rock I like the fact that the industry does not own him like he said on a interview with Tucker Carlson he asked me about canceling the show he said nobody can cancel me nobody owns me I don't want to go I don't go I answered to no one see they tried to trick him with Pamela Anderson and that was a trick no good I've done a lot of research on Hollywood and celebrity even the music industry it's really sick because they're all Satanist and they really are I mean like I said until you've done the research I've been don't point your finger at me don't leave me a nasty comment I got 10 plus years in this I forgot I've done a lot of digging to get the truth but I got it I look back at the 70s and I look at the world today it's it's sickening that's all I got to say God bless.....

Sort of reminds me of a top shelf rookie player during the first few weeks of his career...you see all the tools and skills and talent but that confidence or presence just isn't quite there yet. By 1986 or certainly 1987, Dwight looks so much better on stage.

We’re hearing the monitor mix.People out front don’t hear how dry the vocals are in the monitors. You just hope the soundman has you dialed in out front.

@@mysteryjesus As Dwight's career took off he had a real impact on the Nashville that had rejected him. According to Wynonna Judd Dwight pumped much needed life back into Country music and $aved Nashville's a$$... This man has quiet class in spades.
Tell the doubters to look up his duet recordings. :-D
