Today I am just watching you painting to learn how you handle your brushes specially the rigger one when you draw the small branches. The pastel colors of the sky are awesome and the foreground color is a very nice contrast with the water and the black trunks. I did enjoy watching you painting and the scene is beautiful. It's a pleasure to see the little man with his dog. Thank you for sharing again.
Lovely colors for the sky and various small trees with blue and yellow colors on the distance with their reflections. Some fine trunks behind these trees with reflections. A few dark bigger trunks with tiny branches with reflections on right hand side as well as on the left one. Beautiful light brown land which goes down and form a foreground. There are big huge dark trees on foreground right hand side with lot of tiny branches. A pale blue shadow drawn behind these trees gives a sense of depth which is simply beautiful. The nice pastel colors of sky reflect on water in a lovely way. The shadows of trees make this lovely scene more realistic. Thank you Steven for this beautiful painting with wonderful teachings and demos and for the little figure with his dog.
+Mireille Romain I'm glad you like the video. Thanks as always for your kind words of support. Keep practicing and very best of luck with your painting
Steven I was going to add a comment but I realized that I already did one. So the only thing I can say is that I like very much this painting and I would have a very good place for it on one of my walls at home, in the living room for example. Great painting Steven and wonderful demo. with the rigger. Thank you Steven
Steven I notice that you draw the bushes (the blue the yellow, etc.) before drawing behind the fine lines of the other trees. Is it on purpose ? The color of the sky reflecting on the lake is gorgeous. The foreground is gorgeous with its beautiful pastel colors. Beautiful painting with its big trees in front. You did wonderfully with this "marsh". You are Great and the Best.
Generally speaking I always start with the most distant object first (the sky) and then work my way forward layer by layer until I'm at the immediate foreground. The more layers you get in the better your painting will look.
You also remind me of the old school artist. The art looks like it stood the tests of time. It's brilliant!!! You paint with an old soul . Are you an old soul Steven? Lol or just old like me!
You never disappoint me Steven. I live in Alaska. You would think I could find many subjects to paint. It's hard here. All the paintable subjects are world famous and anyone who can paint or draw does those.. is it ok to make up my own vision of landscapes? Lisa says that everyone should have reference material for accuracy. I find reference material useful but I'm always wanting to change it, make it my own.
+Margo Dias there's nothing wrong with painting imaginary landscapes. Many of my videos on here are paintings I've just made up as I've gone along. With reference material often I will move around to suit the composition. So don't worry about making it up or changing things in your reference photographs. It's called artistic licence!
As always wonderful painting and lesson. What do you do with all your paintings? Do you have like a gallery wall in your home ? Gosh I would be showing off my talent for everyone to see lol. Oh and do you leave them as is or varnish, wax them? Thanks so much !!
Olá!Novamente superando os trabalhos anteriores.Cores muito bem colocadas,vários planos muito bem colocados;reflexos e luminosidade.Parabens e muito sucesso.
Steve, Been watching for some time and I just noticed that sometimes you load the brush with different colors on each end. I would very much enjoy a Technique video... maybe with some close up rock scraping which you make look so easy. Cloud dabbing with a tissue... stuff like that... as always, I can watch these over and over... Love the impressionistic painting style! Do you have an online store where you sell your paintings?
Thanks for your comments John. Yes I'd like to make some technique videos. Problem is just finding the time. Link to my eBay shop is in the description where I sell all my paintings. Best wishes and thanks for your support.
