Kit review: DioDump "Italian chapel ruin" in 1/35 scale

Accessory for vignettes, scenes and dioramas of all sorts are always welcomed by us scale modellers! Luckily we live in times where the market has more to offer than ever, especially when it comes to the classic military scale 1/35.
The brand DioDump is located in the Netherlands and offers an interesting and high-quality selection of buildings made out of plaster and resin, which allow us to add a lot of spice to various sceneries. Often enough you don´t need anything fancy or big, an indicated house corner or a section of a ruin usually do the job.
The kit we have a look at today depicts the ruin of an Italian/Mediterranean chapel and consists of 4 parts. I like the size of the building, neiter too small nor too big and it doesn´t take up a lot of space! Praiseworthy in particular is the very good packing, no corners were cut when it comes to padding material and solid cardboard boxes.
The parts are beautiful and precise, so there is not a lot of clean up to deal with. I appreciate the surface detail and texture of the bricks and the finery in particular, plaster naturally creates a very realistic mineral texture. Just like it is the case with any plaster kit the back sides are completely barren, so it might be necessary to either cover up those undetailed spaces or engrave them. Since plaster is a pretty soft material and can be engraved and sanded really easily this should not be a big obstacle.
The part for the partially destroyed roof is a bit too chunky for my taste, for a filigree roof construction plaster is not really a suitable material. Therefore i recommend to rebuild the roof with a few wooden strips yourself, that would help a lot to end up with a truely convincing and detailed scene.
With a price tag of about 19€ this ruin is actually pretty cheap! I can only say: Keep going this way DioDump!

Ja, da macht man nichts falsch! Ich bin auch beeindruckt, wie oft ein neuer Bausatz von DioDump erscheint, das geht teilweise ratz fatz.
Schöne Bausatzvorstellung zusammen mit Deinen ersten Eindrücken vom Objekt.
Besonders gut, weil diese Firma auch diverses in meinem Maßstab anbietet. ;-)

Another good review and again you have drawn my attention to a brand of accessories that I have not heard of before.. This is certainly (to me) an attractive ruin and I will go and have a look on ebay shortly, to see if there is anything by DioDump there. As I try not to buy too many more kits, I will focus more on accessories now to enhance the kits I do already have.. :) Mind you, I did treat myself to a Tamiya 1/35 M5A1 Stuart, just before watching your video. I have been covering for my boss for two weeks while he has been on holiday in Egypt and I decided that I deserved a treat. I have to spend my extra money on something, after all.. ;) Ps: Oh well, that was disappointing, all I could find was a ruin of a Corner Cafe, which cost a small fortune, especially in postage.. Oh well, will keep looking out for something.

Schick! Als Italien-Liebhaber (bis auf Fußball und Politik) stehe ich auf alles, was an guten Haus- und Ruinenbausätzen zu haben ist. Ich würde am liebsten nur Dioramen bauen, die in Italien "spielen". Der Preis ist wirklich anständig. Mit dem Dachteil bin ich auch nicht so ganz einverstanden, aber der Rest ist sehr schön gemacht. Mir hätte eine Tür aus Resin oder Laser-Cut-Holz auch besser gefallen, aber die könnte man sich auch selbst anfertigen, wenn man das haben will. Danke fürs Zeigen.
Da hast du sowas von Recht, das geht mir eigentlich ähnlich. Mir hat es immer Spaß gemacht die italienische Landschaft und auch das südländische Flair auf eine kleine Szene zu übertragen, das ist eine ganz besondere Herausforderung. Man erinnere sich nur an das große Dio "the right of way", da kommt fast Urlaubsstimmung auf, zumindest bei mir :)
@@HamilkarBarkasScaleModelling Die Videos zu diesem Diorama hatte ich mir letztens noch angeschaut! Sehr gut gelungen! Der FAMO mit dem Anhänger ist riesig, aber durch die Aufstellung in der Kurve hast Du ja ein bisschen Platz "gespart". Wir waren von den späten 60ern bis in die 80er sehr oft im Italien-Urlaub und ich finde, dass Du das Italienische sehr gut eingefangen hast. Man sieht das typische Licht und spürt die Sonne. Fehlt nur noch "la mamma", die den Soldaten Pasta bringt. Ich kann das Essen förmlich riechen!
Nochmals danke für die Vorstellung dieser zerstörten Kapelle. Ich kannte den Hersteller DioDump noch gar nicht, aber ich habe mich heute auf der Website umgeschaut. Da kann man problemlos einen Tausender ausgeben, wenn man alles einkauft, was nur irgendwie von Interesse ist. Ich werde mir also ganz vorsichtig eine Liste machen. Man will ja neben dem Hobby auch noch essen und trinken, hahaha!

Nice review Michael. You found a nice manufacturer. I checked a web site of Dio Dump and found so many beautiful items.The price is reasonable, so I've very impressed with them. I have to consider only send fee to Japan that's not reasonable. I wish to have Japanese distributor with their products. I'm going to contact some Japanese importers soon. Thank you for sharing. Cheers NOB! I can well imagine the difficulties you might face over in Japan, since such small brands don´t have many distributors besides themselves. I think i haven´t seen any shops here that carry DioDump, one would have to order from the brand directly. Well, that can get expensive when it comes to the shipping costs!

Dio Dump liefert hier einen schönen Bausatz, der Luft zum nachdetaillieren hat. Schade, dass die Rückseite so schmucklos ist und bei dem Dach hätte man ruhig ein paar Balsaholzteile beilegen können. Allerdings verändere ich sowieso solche Kits nach meinen Bedürfnissen.

Interessanterweise liegt einer anderen Ruine von DioDump, die ich vor einer Weile mal gezeigt habe, genau das von dir angesprochene Zubehör für den Dachstuhl bei. Ich denke es handelt sich bei der Kapelle um einen eher älteren Bausatz, der noch ein wenig einfacher gehalten ist als die neueren Bausätze.

Bei den Videos wäre schön, wenn ein Link zum Händler in der Beschreibung zu finden wäre. Ansonsten mal wieder ein Dankeschön für ihre Mühen und die hochwertigen Inhalte der Videos. Was mir als Modellbauanfänger immer den Kopf zu rauchen bringt, ist wann lackiere ich? Erst komplett bauen? Am Gußast bemahlen? Gehen auch Baumarkt Sprayfarben was muss man beachten?,und mit welchen Kleber befestige Teile nach dem lackieren?
Danke dir! Ich denke jeder kann eine Suchmaschine wie Google benutzen, DioDump eingeben und schauen was kommt.
Die jeweilige Arbeitsweise ist immer ganz individuell, da gibt es eigentlich kein richtig oder falsch. Ich persönlich neige dazu möglichst viel zu montieren, bevor es an die Lackierung geht. Das ist aber nur mein Vorgehen, manche Leute finden das ungeschickt und machen es lieber anders. Wenn man vorher viel lackiert dann klebt es sich später schlechter, wobei das nicht so ein großes Problem ist in Normalfall.
Das sieht ganz interessant aus. Ich würde sofort eine Decke einziehen und ein MG Nest am Loch postieren 😁 Eine Frage noch: der Preis ist völlig akzeptabel, aber sind die Versandkosten aus Holland nicht enorm hoch?

Versand ist nicht schlimm, die Niederlande sind ja in der EU und das ist jetzt nicht so ein großer Unterschied gegenüber den Versandkosten innerhalb Deutschlands.
@@HamilkarBarkasScaleModelling Das die in der EU sind, hat überhaupt nichts mit Porto zu tun, da Porto Nationalrecht ist. Aus Österreich und Italien kriegst du normalerweise nix unter 15 Euro; aus Belgien, Frankreich und Holland habe ich das schon oft auch so gesehen. Aber ich habe jetzt bei DioDump nachgeschaut - also 11,95 für ein 2 kg Paket hat absolut nichts mit unseren Inlandspreisen von 5,80 zu tun! Wie kommst du also zu deiner These?
Ich habe das ehrlich gesagt nicht wirklich im Blick, gefühlt ist es nicht wirklich ein großer Unterschied. Liegt aber wohl auch daran, dass ich mich damit nicht sonderlich beschäftige. Wenn ich etwas zur Post bringe kostet es meistens irgendwas zwischen 7 und 8 Euro, ob das dann aus den Niederlanden 12€ sind ist mir wirklich ziemlich egal. Habe mal bei eBay was aus Frankreich gekauft und da war der Versand unverschämt, aber das lag eher am Händler als am Postwesen soweit ich das sehe.

Witzig finde ich bei den Verpackungen, oben wird gepolstert ohne Ende, als ob so eine Schachtel keine "Schläge" von unten und den Seiten abbekommen könnte :D
Was ich eher negativ bewerte an dem Bauwerk ist folgendes. Die Vignette darf nicht größer sein als das Bauwerk. Es ist auf keiner einzigen Seite abgeschlossen. Rechts geht der Torbogen weg -> Cut, Szenen Ende. Links das gleiche, da hört die Mauer auf, keine Ecke, nichts, Cut, Szenen Ende. Also für größere Dioramen sind solche Darstellungen eigentlich nicht zu gebrauchen. Und das ist leider bei vielen solcher Produkte so. Man wird eingeschränkt auf diese Größe oder baut selbst dazu. Aber dann kann ich gleich alles selbst machen. Nja, war nicht das Thema. Details sind schon gut, das gefällt! ;)

Ich denke die Polsterung in Form von Papier ist in dem Fall eher dazu gedacht, dass der Inhalt in der Schachtel sozusagen fixiert ist und nicht hoch und runter hüpft, es soll eben formschlüssig sein. Der Karton und die Folie hält das Gröbste schon ab.
Deinen Punkt zum Einbau in eine Vignette oder Dio gefällt mir, das kann je nachdem ein Problem sein. Ich würde sowieso empfehlen solche Gebäude noch ganz individuell aufzubessern, wie etwa mehr Details der Innenausstattung und auch Schuttbergen.

Il panzer II ausf a2 Ibg viene proposto in due varianti quella meno costosa prezzo 35,00 € e quella da 55,00€ questa qui ha l'equipaggio miniart e le canne in metallo. I modellini Dragon in Italia sono molto molto costosi perchè fatti molto bene. Il prezzo minimo è 80 € 90 € 100 €. Il mio negoziante di modellismo mi ha detto: io vendo pochi modellini Dragon perchè sono molto costosi e molte persone non li comprano.
All of DioDump's kits seem too small, to me. Place a Tiger in front of that little portion of a building, and it doesn't create a full scene. There's not enough there...
Indeed, most buildings simply disappear behind a big vehicle like a Tiger tank. However, i used an Eastern European village house by DioDump recently as a backdrop for my T-64BV and that was way too tall for my taste, so i sunk it into the base by a few centimeters so it would not visually overpower the tank model. It really depends on your own taste and what vehicle you plan to place infront of it.

I prefer a full backdrop, so when I view the piece from the display angle, the scene is fully framed.

Ci sono delle varianti di vendita in Italia: Italeri costa molto meno in percentuale % Tamiya un poco di più Dragon è cara. Miniart, Masterbox, Icm sono economiche. Trumpeter e Hobbyboss costano, Ibg economica. Bronco è costosa come Ray Field Models. Das werk non costa molto. Academy non è molto costosa. Ciao Michael. Ps. Italeri reiscatola pezzi degli anni 60- 70 come Tamiya.
