    It's interesting how the level of difficulty varies for different reasons. I marvel at anyone who can go past about a 5 on this scale. Nice renditions!

    アルカンのop33は全体が演奏会用エチュードとしての性格を持ちます。
    スケルツォの序曲:1楽章はなんと言ってもBPM300超えの脅威のスピードと練習曲らしい音の配列
    2楽章も速く、特に注目されるのは、えげつない左手の跳躍や中間部の幅広い対位法旋律の維持だろう。
    3楽章は緩徐楽章で、対位法旋律や和音で旋律を掻き消さない様に注意する必要がある事や、何より重音の無駆動が特徴的です。
    4楽章はとても遅く、エチュードとしての効果は一見無いように思えるが、音をホールドする時間が長いのが特徴で、実はそれが指を強化する事に繋がります。

    Where would the following pieces fit? (These are the ones I'm currently learning):
    - Chopin Ballade 1
    - Beethoven Waldstein
    - Liszt HR2

    • @ericbouchard3745
      @ericbouchard3745  27 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      I would say all of those are around level 8. I based my levels 1-9 on the Henle Verlag difficulty scale (that goes from 1 to 9), and the Waldstein originally (before they changed the system) was ranked between an 8 and a 9, but I find Beethoven easier in general (ex. I would put appassionata at 8 and tempest at 7, instead of 9 and 8).

    • @-.a
      @-.a 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@ericbouchard3745 I personally find the henle scale to be terrible (just look at the chopin preludes - no. 24 is a LEVEL 9)
      I'd also say b1 is way easier than hr2 and waldstein. i've played b2 and wouldnt even consider playing hr2 until i am more prepared

    • @ericbouchard3745
      @ericbouchard3745  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@-.a Yeah, the Henle scale isn't always great. I was indeed confused at the ranking of prelude no. 24 (which I would rank at most an 8), and some Grieg lyric pieces and Rachmaninoff preludes op. 32 are ranked higher than they should be.

    Why is gaspard de la nuit ranked 9.5?It should be more difficult than the Brahms concerto.
    In addition to this, Why is the mozart K 576 ranked higher than Beethoven sonata 27?

    • @ericbouchard3745
      @ericbouchard3745  27 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

      Beethoven sonata 27 IMO really isn't that hard technically (very personal, as I know this isn't necessarily the case for most people), while the K576 is much more twisty and requires greater clarity, speed, and dynamic control. As for Brahms vs Gaspard, Gaspard may be a little harder, but I wouldn't give it level 10, in that it's still within the realm of playable and pianistic (unlike the Alkan). The Brahms is very difficult to pull off since it has to be clean and there are several parts which are absurdly difficult (like the thirds in the last movement and a few parts in the first movement, such as the L.H. leaps and the rapid-fire scales), and I personally found it harder than Scriabin Fantasy, Triana, Ondine (from Gaspard), and even the Barber sonata, which is often ranked with Gaspard as the hardest piano piece. Again, this is all personal.

      Hmm...
      Sonata no. 5: 9.5
      Sonata no. 6: 9
      Sonata no. 7: 9
      Sonata no. 8: 9.5
      Sonata no. 9: 8.5
      Sonata no. 10: 8.5
      This is just an estimation, based on some opinions I got from other people. I took a look at a few of the sonatas, but I've only ever played the Scriabin fantasy.

      If you are just playing for a hobby it is pretty average if piano is your main instrument. If you want to go pro it is alright, but you won't be selling out concert halls.

      Having played appassionata, I would say that it's somewhere between level 8 and 8.5. I would put it closer to 8, but some people would put it higher. Chopin's heroic polonaise is around a 7.5.

      This is very subjective, but here's some of my thoughts:
      Beethoven op. 111: 8 or 8.5
      Chopin Ballade no. 4: 8.5, but some people would say 9
      Chopin op. 22: 8.5
      Bach BWV 848: 5.5 or 6 (if I base myself on the Henle Verlag system, which my scale is derived from), never played or tried playing this one so don't know
      Liszt Mephisto Waltz: 8.5, but I found it to be harder, closer to 9 (a little easier than the Scriabin Fantasy, which would be a middle-tier level 9)
      Debussy reflections in the water: 7.5

      I know, but I haven't played anything harder than the Alkan Grande Sonate, and I only put clips of me playing in this video. The only other pieces that come close (that I've played) are the Brahms concerto, the Barber Sonata, and possibly Ondine or Triana. I've also played lots of Rachmaninoff Études-Tableaux and Chopin etudes.
