I'm gonna have to check out CriticalComposer's video on game specific icons. That's huge to me. Wonder if that's a feature they created hoping game devs would create custom steam controller icons in their games.
It is. Defender's Quest is the only game to make use of it natively, afaik. By the way, I also made a video on per game icons. If your can't find CriticalComposer's video, my channel may help you accomplish what you're looking for too.
It would be nice if more game studios would make custom icons. I've found that for some games I play with my steam controller like Farming Simulator, Euro Truck Simulator 2, or fishing games there are just some actions they basic icons just don't work well for unless you go way abstract. For most of my custom icons I just converted pics and icons from google searches. The customizer at game-icons looks nice, last time I was there they only had basic downloads.
Is there anyway to modify the actual Radial Menu itself? Like instead of a black circle could I turn it into a white egg with a top hat and a monocle for example?
if you try to copy another game you will run into problems for example i tried making a profile for doom 3 bfg based off doom 2016 and there is a problem where the shotgun and super shotgun use the same button unfortunately so you cant make the menu the same
As someone that likes to upload configs specifically to be useful to the community at large, the inability to easily share custom icons drives me up the fucking wall. I'm so often using icons that are only vaguely related to what the action is and that has to be confusing to someone using the config for the first time. It'd suck less if developers provided some of the game's own artwork for use as touch menu icons, but for those without native SCAPI support we need some way of sharing these icons. We already have screenshot and artwork areas with arbitrary image uploads, same with workshops.
Yeah, it's frustrating for sure. I GET why they probably won't ever let us share custom icons in the configs (dongs and boobs everywhere). Not sure if you were around but there was a conversation on the steam controller discord about folks collaborating on an icon pack. Kind of an unofficial official add on of essentials we think it needs. Then maybe we could pressure the devs to add them in an update.
ExistentialEgg That does sound like a good idea. Who all was making them? Do we have a way to make sure we can prove they actually made it? Valve won't accept them if there's a possibility someone is using copyrighted work and not telling.

Yeah, I don't LIKE having to use custom icons but the default batch is always lacking. It's odd that they have so many but never the one you NEED.
