Nice video. Very informative. We are considering buying a sailboat in the Med and retiring on the boat part time. Thanks for tips.

Hi Guys, firstly love your channel. Keeps me going while we are not boating ourselves. We had a boat in the Med for 2 seasons. Your Med tips are on the money. Well done.

Spain is the bomb. Dirt cheap, people are awesome friendly and helpful, weather is stellar, food is cheap and fantastic, scenery is superb. Parts are a little hard to find. And everything is closed 2-6PM.

I am based in Switzerland which of course doesn’t have a coast. Still, I would like to have a boat of 41-56 feet in size. In summer, I need a marina as cheap as possible where I can regularly leave the boat unattended for a week or two, while I have to work in Switzerland. There should be a nearby airport with frequent budget flights and an interesting coastline and/or nearby islands. One such option is Mallorca, with tons of budget flights. The marinas near Palma however are extremely expensive. Marinas in other villages on Mallorca are more affordable although still not cheap. Barcelona and Valencia have affordable marinas and very frequented airports but the coastline there is not interesting. So my question is, whether you know any places in the Mediterranean which tick all my above mentioned criterion? If those marinas happened to be good for boat-work too, that would be of course ideal.

What do u do when a storm is coming and all marinas and wind protected anchorages which can be reached until the storm arrives are full?

Sorry Jackson - quick question which may simply be the difference between Australian English and U.S. English. When you say that the shallow anchorages were usually pretty rocky, did you mean that the bottom was rock or did you mean that the boat was rocky (which I understand to mean rolly as in an uncomfortable anchorage).

Tom Sunnyvale Hi Tom. A lot of anchorages were rocky bottoms or very thin layers of sand. Don’t get me wrong, there are also plenty of sandy and muddy ones too. But we found it hard to always bury the anchor deep - hence more chain heaped. Hope your liking the vids :)

My biggest concerns with sailing the Med is is lanmguage and crime.
How did you fair, assuming you didnt speak the local language, and was there any crime concerns either overnight at anchorages or leaving the boat for extended periods of time.
