Even his wife loves him, while Bianca's husband doesn't seem to care for her attitude that much. The writers and actors have done a good job, making the jackal, a known killer, likeable, and Bianca, the so-called good guy, not likeable at all, good storytelling. They have a winner here, let's hope they don't mess that up.
It's mainly the only problem with it. But it's not new. Punisher (the series was good), John Wick and The Godfather are just a few examples of the bad guys being heroes. There are probably a few libraries of books about why we like these stories so much.
I think you are so right. You have enlightened me. Thank you. I completely agree with you wholeheartedly. It doesn't mater if a person is a psychopathic killer as long as they are "likeable", then it's right to root for them.
I would give this season a solid 8/10. Bianca's actress really did not do it for me. As an actress, she is plain and simple BAD, and she just does not suit this character to me either, Eddie Redmayne on the other hand is incredible and portrays "The Jackal" so effortlessly.
Good review and love the series, but Lashana Lynch's character was the worst part of the show. Good James Bond? C'mon. You can't be serious. She has no range. Keanu Reeves has more expressions than her.
The killers wife is annoying though. She going through all his stuff n letting her family go through it to. She should know her husband by now and wait for him to explain before doing all that. So frustrating. She gone get her own family killed.
Lol everytime theres a black woman thats the star of the show, woke comments I literally cannot think of any show with a black woman in it that doesnt get called woke immediately. The show is pretty good i thought, its got some parts that are like no way in hell but all shows do.
What is the "moral principle" of the Jackal? He was angry soldier who took revenge on his battalion members because they k***ed innocent people in Afghanistan. But, he is willing to kill innocent people to achieve his targets. For me, what happened in Afghanistan was not a turning point for his character arc
It wasn't a moral thing for him. He already passed the boundary of killing "innocent people" when he took his first hit contract. I think that he liked doing it for the money to the point where he found his out from the army by taking out his unit. Also sort of justifying it to himself via their senseless murder.
Was actual surprised that this actor could pull off playing the role of a seasoned assassin even though he tends to be a bit clumsy. Also surprised he got married and had a kid?
I said the same about having a wife and child. I was also shocked he kept so much at his house.. I thought he'd have a secondary storage place for his work things. His wife is an annoying character and so is the MIL but 🤷🏾♀️ have to have some sort of grit i guess..
Great show amazing. One of the best I've seen in a while.... now Bianca and her friend going into the most lethal assassin's house at night to get him? That's a little dumb really to say the least... to go into his house in his territory and on his terms... slipped on that part of the storyline... the rest amazing... even happy Bianca didn't survive but the Jackal did!
Great review mate, really enjoyed this one! You nailed it as well about the quiet patience and Redmayne's aura. I know you were talking about episode 7 there about the waiting part! I disagree about Lashana's character though; it's only later on that she gets the comeuppance for her rash, arrogant persona but early on, she's gives off a really unlikable persona. I think the release schedule is going to hamper this because I think the second half is way stronger than the first half. I just hope enough people hold on to see how this one plays out. Keep up the great work!
I watched this series n oh man lashana lynch acting was atrocious..i mean what the hell ....every episode i watched i rooted for jackal n thought he kills lashana lynch.....worst acting in leading role in series goes to lashana lynch....even tht briefcase n back pack acted well....
What rubbish is this... doing test shots directly over the security people is laughable. No one hears the projectiles hitting the building. This assassin does not know how bullet ballistics works. Almost no recoil from clearly a large calibre rifle with a small surpressor and very little sound. Give me a break.
Just finished the series and I had to forward through all of the scenes Lashana Lynch was in. I found myself praying that her character (Bianca) would eventually get killed. I am not sure who thought it would be a good idea casting her for that role but it did not work and ultimately ruined a show with great potential.
Mmmmm, i just watched the first episode and there's too many unnecessary and unbelievable gaps in the story: 1. He shoots two bullets at a building directly above private security and no one notices...yeah right 2. He unnecessarily blows up the building/room, making it obvious that he was clearly there...assassins work in stealth, they don't use a loudspeaker 3. He burns the merc car swap.... yet again another loudspeaker moment an assassin wouldn't do
I often find Sky Atlantic series as more style over substance so I wasn't expecting much going into this. However, it was about as perfect as a TV series can be these days. As many have said, the actress playing Bianca just didn't fit for me, I wasn't familiar with her previous roles, which appear to have been fairly high profile, so she is clearly well thought of in the industry - but I think that casting mistake will ultimately undermine the longevity of this series if she continues to occupy such a central role in it.
A sociopath like the jackal would be necessarily incapable of empathy or love so his genuine affection for his wife and son are out of place. These people have relationships but only to serve their narcissistic purposes. So when he has those scenes where it appears he truly loves his wife and child, it doesn’t make sense. Even off they were killed he’d be unable to show emotion for them
In the UK we're upto episode 7, episodes drop weekly, and i'm loving the series, not really seen much stuff with Redmayne and he's brilliant in this, i'm hooked and I've binged the 1st 7 episodes.

The weakest point of the plot is the Lynch's character. I don't think it's deep enough, kind of flat. She's not even conflicted about being absent from her family's life. Obviously meant to reflect the typical standoffish male policeman characters from the 1970s and 80s Hollywood. Kind of tough and distant, really dedicated to the job, and maybe a little rough around the edges when it comes to his family life. But it didn't work out that well here, even Dirty Harry had remorse about relationship with his son. Lynch deserves better.
You forgot to mention that Lashana Lynch was also really good in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness in her action scene as the other dimension Captain Marvel👏🏾..... I just can't wait to watch this series because I remember the 1997 Bruce Willis and Richard Gere film.
In regard to your comment about Rob Zombie’s Halloween (2007), I actually don’t think Michael’s upbringing explains his actions at all. Yes, he has a terrible home life and he’s bullied at school, but they don’t do much to explore his character’s mental state while he’s in the sanitarium, then he just snaps (again) and goes quiet. Cut to 15 years later and this small, doughy boy is now a massive hulk of muscle with superhuman strength and seemingly omnipotent. That movie seems like two different, unrelated stories and, in my opinion, is handled poorly.
I think when compared to the 1978 original that truly kept Michael a mystery, especially as a kid who just gets all stabby with his sis, Zombie's version gives huge credence to a terrible home life making him disturbed and detached to then kill. Regardless though, I'm not a fan of Zombie's version 😁😁
Jesus. Have you watched a different series? Ms Lynch is awful in it. Completely mis-cast, Completely unbelievable in every way ( MI6 Agent doesnt know what a Jackal is so needs to Google it, creates havoc in both her workplace and home). Nope, rubbish and full of plot holes.
Lynch is horrible, she destroys anything she touches You want Lynch as 007 😂😂😂 Come on man , stop promoting these fake ass women bosses They are generally horrible people also so its not like i feel bad saying how rotting most these girl bosses are And hopefully, there's hope in the world, and they dont use lynch as 007 ( even though I think they will And that will be another film / franchise ruined by the likes of lynch
Surprised by the hate, I enjoyed it, Redmayne was great, Lynch was better in her supporting role in Woman King but overall, Brit’s/Sky has been putting out great TV IMO
The plot is so obvious and almost every character cartoonish. A fat, middle aged woman who clearly does not know how to move like a soldier-waddling is not SF training and manages to beat up a big ol Irishman. Her bosses-a librarian and a guy who acts like he is about to pee himself. Her dumb, gormless white guy subordinate `Did they find the body?` `Do you want me to check`? Actors of the calibre of Charles Dance are one dimensional racists. Woke crap and an insult to the excellent novel and movie with Edward Fox and other genuine actors. Slow horses has also been infected with the woke virsus but the acting is excellent. KST and Gary Oldman in particular.
This show is written for stoopid people by stoopid people. My god is it bad. Like - when Lashana’s character deduces the barrel was in parts and that the son was used as bait - people react like she’s invented fire. Basically everyone is thick apart from her. Then you face an international assassin using a public computer terminal that has a programme on its desktop called dark core. He then uses this to plan his kills. Notice also there’s three cups of water. Meaning he left the screen twice to get water. Who writes this stuff!
Dark core was on a memory stick all the screen showed were text with no incriminating content, the gun barrel in two parts was not supposed to exist so not thinking of it is to be expected....unless your specialty is firearms(which hers is....and stepping three feet from a terminal to get a drink when as I stated previously there are no incriminating posts is about as risky as stepping three steps back from a TV. If you don't watch and pick up on details then don't disparage what you clearly don't understand.
@ first of all there were intimating things said. And also when he leant back from the screen there was a whole host of messages we did not see. Also a public accessible terminal like that with internet access has firewalls to stop it accessing certain content. You’re telling me that the terminal would not log and alert that it using third party programmes that it does not have installed. Also it was a programme he would have had to run it. If it was a web link it would be logged by the computer. It was obvious to even the man of the street that if the gun was not in the burning building it was in the case. Basic logic says it must be in pieces. It’s not rocket science is it. But everyone in that room was grating it like this. Also I’m sorry but you’re defending the indefensible here - it was shoddy writing. You just have been involved in some way if you’re defending this tripe.
@MovieTrailerDatabase first you assume that a video not verified as the shooter MUST be the guy and therefore must have the gun and therefore MUST have a nonexistent piece of tech which only gun experts have any idea of underground efforts to create and would be assumed by an average tech with no ballistic expertise. So you make this massive leap of logic and behalf of this av tech......yet thinking that a hitman with massive funds and a very real need to have the kind of cyber security shown would not find a way to hide his tracks.....when we know that cyber security is vastly easier to circumvent than actual physical limitations. You do know that overcoming real world engineering problems is a lot harder than virtual problems don't you....that's why computers keep doubling in speed yet cars don't....therefore the more likely answer would always be that the video depicted the wrong man or that the gun was left behind. That's like saying you have a suspect who sent you an email from 1000 miles away but was see in the building across the street from you 15 mins later MUST have driven at 4000 miles per hour in a new kind of supercar rather than thinking it may have been cyber shenanigans.
@ you’re a joke. What are you on about. Are you like a little bit affected or something? I mean you’re literally supporting my argument that episode one was comedic. In other news. Episode two redeemed itself but the start of episode three with the meeting with the case is laughable. Mr angry coming to assumptions before a debrief is a joke and unnecessary.
its another marie sue show... the prot makes mistakes, no consequences, almost gets suspended, but wait magically finds the one thing to not be shutdown.. shame bc the production is really good.
Stupid and unrealistic. Make some realistic series. How can a team of body guards notice suspicious activity in the waters, with their drone down and one man on jet ski killed and still stand n watch until the one person that needs protection is killed? What an actual joke. The whole build up of the series was good until then
I’m 22 years old. I’ve seen the original from the 70s. I enjoyed it. I haven’t seen the Bruce Willis film and I’m gonna pass on this. I don’t find its existence to be necessary.
More bad than good here! The Mi6 are all assholes! Therefore the scripts trying to 'anti hero' The Jackel. She's so not right for this part! (Woke) Eddie's doing his best! And to top it all off shes the spitting image of one of my favourite singers (Corey Glover circa 1989)
Everytime a black person gets hired for a job does not mean it's a DEI hire. White people can also be miscast. The whole show is shit. Bunch of nonsensical stuff happening in every episode. Redmayne did his best with a very bad script. They made him play the part of a reckless, emotional, distracted, oblivious, clumsy "elite assassin. What a waste of an opportunity to create a great show.
I just watched the first 2 episiodes and I have to say, I am rooting more for the hitman than the detective. For now he seems way more likable.
It's bizarre they made the so called good guy evil, loved the series
Even his wife loves him, while Bianca's husband doesn't seem to care for her attitude that much. The writers and actors have done a good job, making the jackal, a known killer, likeable, and Bianca, the so-called good guy, not likeable at all, good storytelling. "Lynch would be a perfect 007"
With that sentence, you lost all credibility. The Rock would do a better job of playing Nelson Mandela.
The killers wife is annoying though. She going through all his stuff n letting her family go through it to. She should know her husband by now and wait for him to explain before doing all that. So frustrating. She gone get her own family killed.
💯 she is so annoying..
It raises dramatic tension
I agree with your content but enjoy her in the show because she’s such a smoke show
She just found out her husband has a secret room the first thing you do is call your family to get advice that's very believable.
Yes !! The wife, her brother, the MIL and Bianca Pullman need to be his next targets

Overall great watch, except few very stupid decisions in Ep 6 & 7
Just binged the show in two days and WOW what a damn great show! Can’t wait for season 2.
The show was good, I’m waiting for the next 5 episodes now 🔥

Great review
The shelved the Bourne series....shame. I thought it had great potential
They were going to do a series? Dang, that could be great if Tony Gilroy was involved at all.

They couldn't get a worse actress to play bianca 😂😅😆🤣
Naomi Harris should have been hired.
How did the lady that hires him get to his hotel room ?
He is so discreet but she got hold of him..or is there a story behind this?
Extra ordinary production quality and performances.

Some of the subplots about family problems for the protagonist / antagonist just feel like filler. All the characters are behaving smartly which is good trait in a TV series.

I don't have much to add, but that's a great t-shirt, just be careful with that Sutter Cane, I hear his books affect people..

When the next 7 episodes will release???
Stupid and unrealistic. Make some realistic series. How can a team of body guards notice suspicious activity in the waters, with their drone down and one man on jet ski killed and still stand n watch until the one person that needs protection is killed? What an actual joke. The whole build up of the series was good until then
You love and appreciate movies and tv shows, but you are terrible are reviewing.
Bianca should be the Head of MI6.
She's a ridiculous character
She is equal parts rubbish and horrible.
Can't stay awake through one episode
You must fall asleep during sex too
My husband falls asleep during parts of it too.. too many lulls for him..
I don't like Andy Rademane and i hate this stupid show.
Bianca character and acting both trash
So, it's not a #DEI woke version as others have mentioned? I think ill give the first episode a watch!
Come on, you know it only takes a black person appearing on screen in whatever context now, to get the DEI label by the grifters lol
one of the worst shows i’ve seen in many years. no clue how this is being renewed.
Ahh, I hate shows that make me root for the bad guy!
Not having a backstory is something that makes the original Jackal so interesting.
I'm disappointed before even watching.
I’m 22 years old. I’ve seen the original from the 70s. I enjoyed it. I haven’t seen the Bruce Willis film and I’m gonna pass on this. I don’t find its existence to be necessary.
Okay, pass on the show.Doesn't bother me I like it.
@ doesn’t bother me,I’m passing. What’s your fucking point? You didn’t have to comment
@@itsbigcliff5178It's like people passing on interview with the vampire TV show when it's far superior to the movies source material 😪
Unfortunately I found her domestic situation a total distraction
terrible casting of the black agent. actress can barely walk, but is put on SOF teams twice.
I was so bored I began snoring 20 minutes into the first episode. I wouldn't call it slow I would call it lethargic and snore inducing.
Absolute trash. And what's Kemi Badenoch doing in it?
Gave up halfway through episode 3. Not feeling it!
The jackal was one of the smartest novel. Now they turned it into this dumb piece of shite.
Watch the series is not shit
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😢🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😢🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
It is so stupid
I don't watch Sky or for that matter the BBC!
Great review
